Now that's funky. Could you please post if it happens again? I don't use AMD, so hopefully someone that does and may have insight on this issue can chime in.

The time when you can play with shader model 4?
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Elpetty's topic in Support
That's an interesting idea Mr. Coffey. I found the following information with a quick Google search. The claim is valid for at least Windows 8, maybe also Windows 7. Read down the thread before trying it - you apparently need an SDK. Before going to the link, please read the following disclaimer: I have no idea how/if this will work, nor do I know whether or not it could cause system damage or serious performance problems. I have not tried it myself, and nobody but yourself is responsible for any damage or instability that may result. DO NOT attempt to file bugs related to display or performance issues if you're using this workaround - they will likely be ignored. Please use the following link at your own risk: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=371483 -
The team is pretty small and quite busy. Could you please send them another email with the original email you sent attached to remind them? Thanks.

Could you please clarify what happened? You played for a while, went to the AMD site and updated drivers, and now you can't play? Or is it the other way around? Does your computer have onboard graphics as well as the AMD card, or just the AMD card?

I suppose my thoughts on the matter would rely on the final purchase scheme. Were they to charge, say, $60+ one time for a key to play the game, I'd like to see more than one character available on my account for the money. This urge would be ever stronger were they to charge a monthly subscription as well. I know this may cause cross-teaming challenges dependent on the way nations are handled in game, I think it important that people be able to experiment with alternate characters in the game without having to buy a whole new copy.

Demo?
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Sir Cloudsley-Shovell's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
You'll be able to run it as far as I can tell. Not sure at what settings, but I play with an old laptop on low at 15-25fps and have no complaints. -
Demo?
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Sir Cloudsley-Shovell's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
This is a touch misleading. You need a video card that supports DirectX 11. Installing DirectX 11 on the computer isn't enough (we've had quite a few players do this and then find out they couldn't run the game). Once you get your rig back, post the specs and we can give you a 95% idea of if you can run it or not. -
We've been around this issue before. In real life, you had officers who would keep you apprised of the other ship's position, and noticeable damage. We don't need to add more complexity to that. Ranging doesn't need to be made any easier with crosshairs or elevation marks in my opinion. They used to have elevation marks and removed them due to how easy it made gunnery. Gunnery is already far, far too accurate as it is - making it moreso isn't a good idea. Welcome. Please use the search function, even a cursory reading would tell you the answer. I'll help you out, though, somewhere around 8-10pm Kiev time should be the next sending of keys.

I was given an option to choose a name on first load as well Stuka. I'm not sure people notice the dialog and just accept the default, which may be their steam name.

The time when you can play with shader model 4?
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Elpetty's topic in Support
Mr. Coffey, I was saying the same thing, but then Admin chimed in and said that it's safe to assume that support for DirectX 10 may never be implemented. In short, for now, I believe the message is "don't hold your breath". I know that's not a very uplifting message for those that do not have adequate hardware, but I believe it may be a limitation of the current engine they're using. -
Combined Boarding
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Prater's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
It's a tactical decision. Those boats are going to be a fine, fine target for anything in the area while they're fighting. Two boats tackling one leaves an extra boat loose on the enemy side. -

Definitely support this. If for no other reason than a swarm of proas trying to take a merchant ship in concert. -
Rescue survivors
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Syrinx69's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
To expand on this topic a little further, even when it was dealing with a ship that had struck its colors, the victorious ship, if there were still enemies in the area, didn't stop to take possession. They didn't even stop though it meant a prize and head money. They'd sweep on and trust that the stricken ship remained in place until they came back. It's just not logical that they'd heave to and start the extremely laborious and time intensive process of picking people up out of the water. -
Rescue survivors
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Syrinx69's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
In my opinion, you owe it to your teammates to get your ship to them as fast as possible, instead of delaying to zigzag around picking up survivors. Even if you're undercrewed by a bit, getting what guns you had into the battle as soon as possible would be the best goal if there is still shooting going on. -
Before posting here, please check the latest following thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/649-server-status-updates-servers-are-on/page-18#entry70120 The servers were down for maintenance it looks like.

Rescue survivors
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Syrinx69's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Nobody is going to stop fighting their ship mid-battle to pick up crew. This isn't a good mechanic and it would in no way reflect real naval battles. After the battle, and assuming it hadn't torn off over the horizon, yes, but not during. -

Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Pt_Lacky's topic in Forum and website problems and improvements
The forums are far harder to use with iOS. You can still get most of the functionality by clicking the "Full Version" button on the bottom, but things like posting images, etc. are a lot harder. -
Wind Shadows
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Gunnyhighway's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Throwing "realism" into people's faces every time a mechanic is discussed is an extremely poor way of conducting an argument. This isn't reality, it's a game that, to some degree, will attempt to reflect reality, but in a fun way. Wind shadows are real, wind shadow griefing is quite real, and would be a major source of fun for those that are anti-social. Implementing a mechanic to ensure that windshadow is a viable tactic to use on an enemy, while not fully realistic, would be a fun way to implement something realistic, without allowing griefers to ruin others fun. If you're going to argue against implementing wind shadow on enemies only, please do so by pointing out some of the cons of doing so - such as not being able to maneuver in such a way as to cause one enemy to shadow another enemy's ship, creating a tactical advantage for yourself. -
Wind Shadows

I'm not arguing for or against it here, just stating the developers' reasoning for not implementing it. -

On the second bar in the editor is a little square with a tree in it (about 11 from the left). Click that square, and paste the URL in. The forum media hosting isn't all that large, and is easy to fill, so the easiest way would either be to directly paste a remote URL, or to open a PhotoBucket or IMGur account, upload your images there, and then use their link button to generate a "normal" HTML link, and paste that URL here. Sorry for the lack of illustrations, but let me know if you're still confused.
