  1. Thanks Skully. Please continue this discussion at Skully's link.
  2. Ok, you people must stop it with debauching the sloth all the time. Somebody get that thing some coffee please....
  3. It's easier to moderate when people do not know exactly who or what you are. We agree, moderators should moderate with an even hand, and we all check each other's actions (and frequently ask each other for feedback and another perspective) on a problem before taking action - it helps us to moderate as fairly as possible.
  4. That would most certainly cause problems. Glad you got it sorted.
  5. There is a way into the port - you just need to find it. Bump around on the shoals until you get it figured out.
  6. This has been a topic of discussion behind the scenes.
  7. Chevalier was the first name of a sailor I found on the actual rosters of the French Navy during the Napoleonic era. I didn't have Noble as a surname on the list I provided, however it might have been added by the Developers. That said, generation is completely random between the first and last name lists. You got lucky (or unlucky considering it doesn't make a lot of sense) on this one.

  8. Off topic posts have been removed. Please stick to answering specifically the questions that Admin has asked. Feedback about the alliances system itself and ideas for same must be made on the following thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15871-alliances-feedback-topic/
  9. My suggestion with that much data (and that many "special" characters to check) would be to set up a Google Sheet with the data and link it with a read-only link. As for the bug, you'll want to go to the IPBoard forums and post it there - GameLabs doesn't program these forums.
  10. If it doesn't help, please run a connection test (it's an option when you first start the game in steam) and report the Bug number here. Thanks.
  11. Please use the official feedback thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15979-official-dead-mans-chest-event-feedback-heavily-moderated
  12. When you crash, the first time you restart the game after the crash, select the "Send Crash Report" option. It will dump the information from a bunch of logs that will get cleared if you go straight back to playing.
  13. Please use the official feedback thread. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15979-official-dead-mans-chest-event-feedback-heavily-moderated/?view=getnewpost Thanks.
  14. Please feel free to leave constructive feedback here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15967-feedback-on-saturday-mexico-event/ People who want to whine or call names should reread the rules.
  15. Please follow the instructions here and report back on what happened with each step: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7082-connectivity-issues-lags-disconnects/
  16. I'm not sure you know the definition of fair. Comments like this are off topic. Please keep responses related directly to the event - what is, is not, or may be happening in this area.
  17. To be clear, moderators have no powers in game other than to silence/warn people's chat. You'll need Developer interference, and I think they're mostly going to bed for the evening. Hang in there, please F11 if you haven't already.
  18. They actually don't shift direction seasonally. They may strengthen and weaken a bit, and the zone in which they operate may fluctuate erratically due to localized weather phenomenon, but in general the trades in the Caribbean are fairly well fixed in direction throughout the year. 6 months in the game takes approximately 60 hours of real world time. This means, even if you did something "seasonally", you'd be pinned for 30 hours or more, during which a goodly part of the map would be nearly inaccessible. This is not good gameplay. We're also drifting far off topic. Let's get back to direct feedback on the patch please.
  19. Trade winds will not fix this problem. They will force you to beat to windward eternally in the southern caribbean if you want to go east, so your only solution is to sail hours to the north. I won't even get into the east coast of the US. Winds circle around the compass to prevent players from getting into a situation where they always are sailing against the wind. I'm not a huge fan of it, but for gameplay purposes, I can entirely see why the wind is the way it is.

  20. I don't recall any point at which an offline mode was promised. The server architecture is what provides all of the calculations, physics, and other secret sauce that makes the game great. Trying to package that into something that can be played offline isn't in the cards as far as I know. You can do just as well on the PvE server. If you don't interact with anyone else, you've basically achieved "single player" mode. As it is, the nature of a sandbox doesn't lend itself well to being by yourself, and there likely aren't any plans to create the volume of missions and other interactive content that a single player game requires to be fun.
  21. Topic locked - rants and posts which consist of nothing but disrespectful comments are not permitted. Please provide on top, constructive feedback in the patch notes thread (or if in regards to alliances, in the alliances feedback thread). Thank you.
  22. It's coincidence.
  23. This feature has now been released. Please play the game, experience the feature, and provide feedback in the Official Feedback topic: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15871-alliances-feedback-topic/?view=getnewpost Thanks!
  24. A "lag switch" will not do anything but you get you, personally, killed. The game does not rely on your response to function. Period, end of story. Claims that people are "hacking" are ridiculous for the reasons mentioned above by Admin. It's all or nothing folks. The only way to mess with the server would be to DDOS it - which would screw everyone at the same time. Accusing people without any evidence is not tolerated. The forum rules REQUIRE that you treat each other with respect. I don't see a lot of that in this thread, and that makes me sad. When I get sad, I get mad, and when I get mad, I start handing out warnings. Follow the rules. If you're experience odd disconnects, lag, etc, immediately run a connection test (start the game from steam and select "Connection Test"). THIS is how you get server problems fixed. Give the developers data to work with. There are definitely problems with the client sometimes in larger battles. Loss of control and desynch definitely happens. F11 and report is the only way this issue will get identified and fixed. If you're going to claim "Hacking", do it with a video. Anything else will be dismissed immediately as trolling. I'd leave this open but y'all seem more focused on insulting each other and trolling than actually discussing the issue like reasonable human beings.
