Rule on collaborating with the enemy
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
A spy with no alt is not listed for ban. Some folk have an issue understanding the diferences. Issue is the Alts not the spying. -
Well, sometimes NA related humor can be used as inspiration for some outdoor activities, right ?

You are pointing out human factors. This cannot be understood by the machine. The motto is: When you are online you play. When you are not then you do not. Each clan/fleet/community/flotilla has its own operation mode and not all engage into "trafalgar galore" Port Battles. I think the variety of gameplay, day after day, given the available time to play, is really good. With limited time you can simply go after AI or plan sailing to a new port to establish a new outpost. With more time you can check where you are needed. I completely agree with you regarding screen fleet deployments. They erode the morale more than help the combat operations when there is nothing to do except sit there. I would suggest your fleet leaders to allow flotillas to spread out more and go on seek and destroy in a 15 minutes radius around the objective instead of just sitting like pups. Reward for losing makes no sense by the way. The game isn't based on that and every ship, every rank, is valuable. After all it is a game based on efficient use of your assets as opposed to pure arena balance.

Pirate Mechanics Vote
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to B4NGSPL4T's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Pirates can be hardcore ( especially in pvp1 ) if all nations agree to end the scourge. That would be nice and proper and highly historical. Now you going to sit on your comfy chair and shake fists or you are going to end the black in map ? Some of the things must be conducted by the players and not by mechanics. -
Interesting, never had it with both ships in whatever relative position. Maybe a visual bug you found ? ( as similar to the text bug where rank/money doesn't show up )

Battle reinforcement timer
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Vykorie's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The enemies will be visible even before they end their invulnerability. If friendlies are around they know where they went and if they entered any battle. It is fixed. A team can still time the attacks sure. Same as the opponents flotilla can also setup a tag spread. -
Actually it has been working well. Corsairs risk jumping one or two and then immediately will have a flotilla waiting for them as they can no more run through from battle to battle invisible. You try out the corsair/privateer life deep inside any nation, right at their busy trade lanes and AI mission grounds and then you will see what I mean.

Suggested Changes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Taranis's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Again I think you are missing a lot of what Naval Action PvP is, and I guess you race a lot around to find loopholes, all fine and dandy. There is no boring grinding and PvP is very rewarding in the FUN feeling. Let's go through them 1 by 1: 1. As Steel posted. Also I think the player is not a shipbuilder but a manager. 2. This is a tricky one, so watch what you wish for. I am all for ironman modes so it is easy for me to support his one. 3. A mix of Treasury and Provisioners across the Outposts could be interesting instead of the abstract counter. The rest I see no point in having, especially ransoms. 4. The prizes from ports should be the stock from the port itself, as loot if conquered and as reward if defended. -
AI Contraband & Cargo
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Taranis's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Do you like the game ? I, personally, do not feel any time issue. Plus the AI traders should never ever be a cheap alternative to port production. If anything I will always advocate that AI traders system should feed from and to the port pools. I knew there was a second thought behind the suggestion and, sorry to say, it is not constructive towards the economic part of the game as a whole but the one player one individual economic welfare instead. -
AI Contraband & Cargo
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Taranis's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
With the present AI no. It is no effort to get them. Give all AI traders a meaningful fleet, the ones than really make you think twice before engaging, and then we talk about their cargo. -
Merry go round and round and round. You keep looking at mechanics that rule Nations and try to work them out to tailor Pirates. Primarily the player that chose pirates think they might have a different kind of liberty that they do not possess in a Nation, and here lies the trap. They only thing they can do is attack each other. This is as much a incentive as it is deterrent as being Pirate means nothing unless one sets up to custom rules and play by them. So, step back, and rework a completely different thing for pirates while ignoring completely the rules that affect nations.

PvP1 was Dutch nation, as i love everything up to 4th rate I focus on OW combat, screen fleet, organizing chase flotillas, you know, all the Naval Action I could take. Not even bothering with crafting, economy and all of that. I only use the system to give away carriages to friends. now playing self imposed "hardcore" freebooter mode. Always had bases inside enemy nations to hit their "sheep pens". Am I not wrong regarding reinforcements.

Battle reinforcement timer
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Vykorie's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Fixes must meet the majority of cases while also taking care of some specific situations. The battle hopping was fixed, same as with the invisibility ambush. There are some cases now and then when I finish a battle and suddenly I see someone starts one right next to me while I was still loading back the OW, but this is far from being the norm and it doesn't happen that often. What ganky corsairs did, which they cannot do anymore, with the 2 minute timer plus the no-attack on invisibility/invulnerability was to just camp sites and ambush through bait. Now it is much more difficult and they are forced to adapt. Move in a group, 30 seconds apart. It is still possible to jump unwary victims. The same for defense groups. Spread in 30 seconds ranges, intercept undesirables. The more corsairs operating from free ports deep inside a nation the better for a pvp server. Get those sheep herders what they're due. -
Again. Sails that can be seen are, within favourable wind usage, in range of the timers to enter a battle. The timer, if increased will ensure we get back to the mission jumping situation. At least the 2 minute timer ensures an attentive commander that if no sails are on the horizon he is safe to proceed without being jumped by enemy corsairs. With 5 minute timers it was chaotic and with no chance for friendlies to enter the mission to save them. We are on the balance. It is not perfect but it is working.

- log entry - Fifth day of April, Year of Our Saviour Two thousand and sixteen Weather is overcast with a strong mist settled. Horizon visibility impossible. Sail spotting at extreme of eight hundred yards. Many contacts registered. Two engaged. - French trader sloop, yielded 800 pieces - English trade brig, yielded 1700 pieces Today was a close run. Too damn close if I ever had one. For all the virtues that Grand Corn has to offer, being so close to one of the richest and most populated trade lanes in the southwest, it surely has its dangers and the Royal Navy surely is one of them. Given that their efforts are focused up north in Jamaica it is not too often that I bump into their war fleets but this turn it happens they were out in the hunt for Danish ships. - "Stay away from Mosquito Cay ye 'ear me. " - said our provisioner at Great Corn, a portuguese named Venâncio Torto, former employee for West Indies Company and now a runaway due to gambling debts and murder of a WIC oficial over the same debts, or so the story goes. He doesn't seem to show much of his worries about what people comment on his story. He denies everything with a raspy loud chuckle and a shake of his head. We did sail exactly to Mosquito Cay accompanying a flotilla of Dane ships, all 74 guns, which their captain, after the usual hailing and identification, revealed be hunting a Royal Navy flotilla led by a 80 gun ship of the line. I replied in jest if they needed an escort which they took with good nature humour and thanked us for the eventual help in the upcoming fight. The flotilla arrive Mosquito Cay without an incident nor any sails spotted and we soon departed in search of prey. No soon as we moved westward we came upon a brig. She rested nice and comfortable flying with a good wind but was noticeable heavy and this sparkled the predator instinct. Called to quarters and announced the prey. For a while this brig did not fly any colours which was intriguing but our decision was taken. The closure rate was surprisingly fast given the broad reach but we cut through from behing at beam and then reversed course for interception at a much better three points off port side. No sooner than 600 yards she then suddenly raises the British colours and turns hard to starboard. I could see the crew starting to dump cargo overboard, one barrel after the other... I brought her about, the Indigo Bobcat responded with such a elegance, and rapidly brought us into musket range and we raised the hyena banner. That is when the brig captain knew what was coming for them. He tried for a while to move out of our best wind but our guns were prepared with chain so we brought the prey to a crawl and approach her. There was a little resistance, more out of fear of what would happen to them than to preserve their cargo, but after a brief clash the trade crew laid down and surrendered. It happens this scoundrels were smuggling French wine, which was embargoed by the British Colonial rule following the Anglo-French war in the Panama coastline. I promised the crew a bigger share than what we have been practicing so they got very eager to return to Grand Corn and serve themselves to the barrels no doubt. We kept a south by south east course for a while when sails were sighted, royal navy colors. Frigates and more frigates and seventy-fours were stretched all along the east-west paralel between Mosquito Cay and Grand Corn. There was no doubt we would have to find another way around as I wasn't going to risk a ruse with contraband. I ordered us and the prize to go East and try to circumvent the navy deployment. This was not to be necessary as out of nowhere a thick fog descended and we cast the decision to try to go through them while the mist was up, and it showed no signs to be lifting any time soon. We crawled steadily, sails here and there showing up above the mist betraying the position of the taller ships, other times just a shadow in the grey wall of fog. We risked little and I issued no voice commands the entire time letting the crew keep her steady. The fog kept us undercover until we finally reached Grand Corn, after deviating slightly to the East. We managed to make dock under the cover of night and the Royal Navy presence in the free port was indeed strong. We served ourselves to some of that nice french wine and I tried to gather some intelligence. Nothing new about the Dutch Silver Fleet, although the word is that the Republijk Shipyards were busier than ever. No letter arrived during my absence. We shall remain in port until this weather subsides. Freebooter Captain Hethwill Eskeath aboard the "Indigo Bobcat" Free port of Grand Corn
