  1. The Lynx is much more versatile at all points of wind. You get caught with onshore winds and you will be in trouble with all the others. I hope you use all the others.
  2. There is no difference, regarding that, as before. Main difference, and I will repeat it, is that the invisible gank is much less possible. The groups that do it must rely on lower rates and yet they will probably cannot enter because of timer and relative positioning. Regarding skilled players it does not make that much of a difference but if the ganked victim is competent it turns to be dangerous. If anything all the changes to battles, from tagging to spawn positions to structure damage, etc, have made the skill gap much more wide now. And in that concern, I approve of the changes. Made me rethink many things in the game and return to some things I already knew. Guys that did not help before do not help now and will not help ever no matter the mechanics. Live example. Constitution is jumped by 5 Snows and a Privateer to keep the BR fair . You won't convince me that the Ironsides can't deal with them in short order if he has an idea of how and what he is doing... Oh, and was right in front of Carlisle with a few ships around, no one even tried to get into the circle to get into the fight but turned tail and made to port. Nope, no touches in BR will help with this kind of mentality.
  3. Eliminate Capital as we know it. Make it unconquerable BUT also blocked to any building types. Transform it simply into a symbol. Introduce Home Port, each player selects own ports and "teleport to capital" gets replaced to "teleport to home port". Make Regional Capitals the Naval Bases / Shipyards Other ports as main resource production and lower rates shipyards Only do this after the new PB mechanics.
  4. If there's plenty of people around they should've seen the enemy ships and moved to intercept. Everyone in the circle will be added to the battle with not concern for BR.
  5. Please leave the Black out of here. There is no big difference between a Nation and the Black. Actually there is but is everything not related to "capturing ships because economy". We can pay the prices no worries.
  6. Would even say the grouping of shots might be too good over 800 yards, so no, it is not scattering enough especially moving at full wind.
  7. Again, the main problem the system solved was the battle screen ambushes. Obviously different scenarios evolved. That problem is now behind us. No more reports and tribunals of carnivore gankers materializing out of thin air and jumping the poor herbivore coming back from grazing some AI. Now you must get into the circle aka. be seen or resort to flotillas of small ships which is a battle relying on a wide skill gap, but that no mechanic can help. Regarding your nation buddies helping out nothing changed. They still have the 2 minute timer to join and help.

  10. Indeed. But personally I do not see it as a problem. Now the lack of contraband is indeed an issue.

  13. I know. But rather than complicate, simplify. No cargo, shorter cooldowns. The transfer ship to outpost ( n.3 )is the hmmmm part. It is the only one I might see through, maybe.
  14. During the two minutes ships can join as long as the 1:1.5 is not broken. After 2 minutes it closes. So theoretically you can join to balance during that time frame.
  15. hmmmm unsure... All these "fair" points could be reduced to a single system. Reduce teleports by 90 mins. Eliminate all cargo if teleporting.
  16. Odd but worth a look. Was in Dutch and Black waters and saw a fair deal, all with escorts. Maybe the lone ones were removed and that's why the quantity is less overall ?!
  17. Ports spawn nationals. To find foreign traders you should have to travel to the edge of territory. Admin posted this in other thread. About the specific contraband, no idea, but did see a few yesterday.
  18. Depends on how much rum rations the crew downed before setting sail.
  19. Thing is before this patch I would already attack traders with a lot of escorts. The amount of cargo they had would shy the lone ones. Had to be aggressive to ward off escorts and keep the trader in distance or tagged. Great fights versus AI and way better than herding the mission cows. So nothing new all is good.
  20. W I do not know both ships construction details but it is possible that given the specifications of the Trincomalee it has a more flimsy structure ? You can't see that in the UI by any means. It is intrinsic to the ship itself as the model is build by the real life counterpart schematics. There is a lot to the game than simple toe-to-toe. Not doubting anything mind you, just coming up with a factor ( one that I love in sim games ) that is not slapped across the info and makes us research further. As an example, the Consti. It is naturally already hard and strong and tanky, so giving it live oak will enhance it while giving a Surprise Live Oak won't help that much as the ship scheme is not made for enduring full cannonades.
  21. They use the same cannons as you would if in the same ship as the AI. aka. If AI using a Cerberus it will use the 9 pounders.
  22. I am Legion ! Actually after being drawn to it for RP purposes I became quite addicted to it, but it might be more of the combative nature of the group itself than anything else. For a OW pvp minded player sitting for hours in port or screens waiting for nothing doesn't cut it. If anything and need a new course for my character, and if the story doesn't allow a return to the Orange I surely get in touch. May be a little while though.
  23. I like the diversity of ships and inherent characteristics at levels, OW and battle. I cannot sympathize with the idea, actually I would go as far as making the differences even more pronnounced.
  24. Seems like a good therapy group clinic for those trying to surpass the flying-the-black addiction
