  1. Obviously. Still you must have an outpost. And how many outposts you can maintain ? It is a decision making situation between military outposts and economic outposts.
  2. Armour and Structure HP are not the same thing. Oak still retains the Structural solidity. Teak was always more armoured aka. more bounces at medium range and over and resilience to leaks. So no, they did not switch places.
  3. They can be different clans, but jumping into the fight, as opponents following the escape on accord. It is a very grey area but easily detectable and proven.
  4. It is a big change indeed. Let's test it for a while before we say it doesn't work, after all the TP change is flat across the board and does not discriminate any activity. One of the least used systems is deliveries. Now there's the choice between paying for delivery or risk the hauling yourself, whereas before, do the run, TP safely back to capital. Also maybe, just maybe now the population spreads more across the territory instead of being all stuck up in the capital. Eager to test it as it is a great compromise between the instant action to hot spots of pvp, management of ships in the outposts and the whole cargo hauling, and privateering, trader routes hunting.
  5. TP between outposts. No ship is teleported. This being said you will have to sail to one of your outposts. This change balances nation populations while also keeping the flexibility of the more populated nations by giving some respite to the same groups that do port attacks over and over again and have some needed rotation.
  6. Ewok - Before the buddies jumping after the battle start would count towards the BR difference for immediate exit. Now it is only the BR at the very start. Late joiners values are not accounted
  7. Bonne chance mes amis. À là victoire !!!
  8. Nothing short of spectacular. Direct and Indirect changes are superb. The Teleports will change a lot. The 5.0 model seems to be a bliss with proper wood densities and thicknesses. Can't wait to kickoff a new phase of the game.
  9. Not a separate class/nation but specific mechanics for privateers under letters of marque and self employed freebooters. After all freelancer can sell its services as a mercenary during a war
  10. Give this captain a medal. He stated the obvious modus operandi of many groups - attack undefended, run away if defenders show up.

  11. Kicked into continue work on the "rulebook". Had a draft started from a while ago and will spend a bit over it again. Given the coming Lordships maybe it is a good time to brainstorm this and actually have them connected to Companies of trade which gives due importance to Traders as much as to the Privateers/Corsairs/Freebooters/Piracy.
  12. This is an area of rule design I feel it is the most interesting to discuss and whether we want it or not it is intimately connected to Trader class as well. After all Privateers existed due to armed trade wars. Both classes must be developed together and not separate from all the rest, not to unbalance the established goodness. Let's establish that Traders equal Players sailing dedicated trading vessels. Ignore NPC sheep. The starting point should be to answer the following - are there enough Traders to be intercepted ? If NO, changes must be thought of. - in the wars going on, does Trader hunt have any real effect ? If NO, the same treatment. As it stands at the moment, trader hunt is more of a RP thing for the privateer and freebooter, a hobby within the NA hobby. The usual smart trader does its run and then teleports back to capital. This renders any trade interdiction impossible, generally speaking.
  13. Question regarding this: how to lock cursor to the monitor showing the game ( and release when needed ) ?
  14. Salute. While there could be a warning message, I do not disagree with you there, the situation you've been through and the consequence has been a much better "teacher" than any pop-up would be and with true lasting effect - you will never forget that rule. Share the knowledge.
  15. Prize crew and transfer control to AI could be one. But still the "rulebook" states that all enemies must be defeated. *shrugs*
  16. read the rule change again, and again and again until you understand how it applies to everyone
  17. All enemies must be defeated ( sunk, captured or escaped ) for all prizes and own ship to be available. Leaving sooner results in what you experienced. Many of us learned it the same way you did. edit: tomms beat me to it
  18. Felt more like a proper conversation than a interview. Nice from both host and yourself.
  19. There is the human factor controlling the machine here. It is not a simple equation of numbers and point and click. If anything the zerg will work with timers, but we still have to test the new big thing we chose, War&Peace and associated PB mechanics ( and raids !!! )
  20. You misunderstood me completely. I feel the black is strong with you.
  21. This statement alone almost, almost... no mistakes, would be enough to make a faithful believer in the great plunder and the magnificent booty provided by Pirate Jesus go astray.
  22. Logging means surrender. That's why. Salute and always fight to the end. Obviously RL issues might interfere so a voluntary Surrender is okay as well.
  23. Given the game revolves around combat and rules of engagement, better start there at combat & roe before going up to the conquest & nations level.
