Naval Action on Youtube
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Thomas Blackwell's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
two schooners and a frigate With a buddy versus a US coastal guard Frigate. Tagged us a few times. We decided to end the chain of events big prize, little cargo Taking the Blackbeard Snake for a crew shakedown and, hoping for prey, came upon a Les Gros Ventre. the prize escapes You remember that loading screen quote "Don't get cocky..." ?! Yes, no I do. not a fisherman friend Came upon a trader which happened to be a hard toiling fisherman. Boobytrapped Title says everything. In a flotilla of 1 cruiser and 2 brigs engaging a player trader with a NPC fleet. It is impossible to see own death by explosion. Was a good fight with nothing short of spectacular end. a fail... right between the masts... If there's something worth is using the lynx to chase a lynx. It is an exercise on precision rather than brute force and requires finesse. Alas the prey escaped. ... blasted fishermen... It is not that rewarding to nail fishermen. But hey... there's no way to know what they carry until inspection. US coastal guard recruit The US coastal guard is more alive nowadays with the influx of new players. Got interdicted by one of the new recruits. A nice little battle. coastal guard Alert And yet again intercepted by the US coastal guard Save your crew, save your officer. This one was a strange situation. We were hunting for trade, using a privateer and a Blackbeard Snake when we came upon a Essex which ran away hiding inside a battle with a cutter... we went to check what that was all about... A bottle ! My kingdom for a bottle ! A normal trade hunt which actually goes in an unexpected way. The captain sacrificed a Officer life ( supposedly if he has one ) and all the crew... and all for what !? A bottle !?... Peaceful takeover After making my way back to Bonacca to reopen the haven there immediately when to check how the area is developing after being conquered back by the Brits. Came upon a trader and had to indulge myself to it after a trip that was all time under a violent squall... let's play the game without playing Fishing - the act of playing NA without playing NA. AKF Fishing - the act of asking for it !!! There will be violence... GOOD! A snappy salute to the LGV captain Jack the Just. Great spirit and kept his cool while knowing the escape window was open all the time Close affair. Too close. Was getting ready to return to port and give it more time for trade route to increase traffic when I came upon prey. Was a good contest, I messed up a lot of position and wind but the good ol'Pickle hangs tough and the crew takes the day and the prize. This how I do my fishing. I do not make use of Fishing. It takes away OW speed and I have no need. Instead of spending 6 hours doing it I take half an hour and have the same result.Thank you for all the time you spent AFK fishing. Stupendous cargo. Between a LGV and a hard Lynx One of the most fun combat situation in a while. A friend in a trader LGV ( see previous vídeo to see where the LGV came from), with a non-NPC escort ( me! ) gets intercepted by a raider US Frigate. Fun, epic, hillarious and spectacular show of gallantry ( not! ) from the opponent in chat. ___________ Watch live at http://www.twitch.tv/hethwill_khan- 829 replies

Flexible crafting notes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Hugh Latham's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I like the separation of "specialty". Copper plans ( think of them being naval architect drawings ) used for building a schooner cannot be replaced with gold plans for building a ship of the line. Regarding upgrades, they could be broken further down for Light, Medium and Large ships and use the notes accordingly. -
Surrender during boarding
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Reverendo's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Same with nationals and Smugglers. Basically equals damage farming, but far from any of us to point something wrong with a anti-suggestion without being scolded. -
Surrender during boarding
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Reverendo's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Now this is more interesting and gives "captain reputation" a chance. - "Oh you are that captain that puts everyone to the sword if we surrender... No quarter then!" -
Surrender during boarding
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Reverendo's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Plenty of counter arguments to that historically wise. What is the issue ? The Kill award, okay I get it. Fair enough. -
Surrender during boarding
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Reverendo's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You get boarded, you see there's no hope. Click Surrender in the mini game. What's wrong with it ? Result will be the same, everyone wins time, captain that surrenders saves crew and officer, attacker gets ship and the victory is his. Do not bring the "sinking surrender" as an analogy, it is not even the same thing. -
Surrender during boarding

It is actually a good suggestion. -
I was sure to grab the glass before it broke I want no safe zones. I wish to have pirate havens and free ports at the moment serve that purpose. If they are dismissed what is left for legitimate and honest piracy with no havens to operate from ( *gulps beer* )? Nations, unlike pirates, relied on well established trade and military presence on well known ports. But we cannot forget many of them were not that big nor that populated. Gustavia for exemple, IIRC, was not over 600 -700 population by the time the Brittish took over. If the national players in game decide to stick with the capital there is little that can be done. I for one do not mind having my ship options reduced to 1 ship per free port, as a pirate, while nationals cannot park there at all. But that's me and my playstyle, cannot speak for others.

Treasure?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to jnovotny6's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Unsure but I left one marker ( the only wreck I ever went to ) for 3 - 4 days without bothering and it was still there after. -

Pirate waters
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Mrdoomed's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Like the governor of Port Royal told Henry Morgan while giving him privateer rights - The King is too far away. I'm interested about my share. -
"Damn ye altogether: damn them for a pack of crafty rascals, and you, who serve them, for a parcel of hen-hearted numbskulls. They vilify us, the scoundrels do, when there is only this difference, they rob the poor under the cover of law, forsooth, and we plunder the rich under protection of our own courage; had you not better make one of us, than sneak after the asses of those villains for employment?"

Any weekend Pirate is first and foremost an artist, a prankster, a joker

I cannot correlate with that mechanic. Don't use it. We know of individual and clans of pirates that attack pirate traders and steal their stuff. That's how the beauty and the beast works. I sarcastically think the ability to hide adds a lot to the individual skill of a captain in battle. I laugh at that... more weak than op IMO.
-
Blackthorne, let's not spill the beer Pirates simply are more sexy. That's all we have OP.
-
Nationals can attack each other with smuggler flags. Let's just continue...Rats are OP because.... ? Same ships, no admiralty, no national cohesions, cooperation is faulty at best, danger for a trader comes from pirates as well.
-
Fair enough. Different experiences different results. I don't feel AI that precise nor accurate unless I am predictable, but then the same happens versus a player As I said before it is certainly related to each ship specific plans of construction. It is not only flat numbers.
-
Please please... let's not go roller coaster with all that combo and wizzardry mumbo jumbo. IMO anything that detracts a combat situation from being resolved by the player attention, of total ship control and direct effect of the skillful use of the ship, wind, position, is not needed that much. Values of 1% to 4% should be more than enough to provide that light-rp feeling that your crew or ropes or poop deck are actually going through a "story" and evolving. Read again what you wrote please, bonus to shoot and damage and precision to blast modules and fancy errol flynn swashbuckling chandelier flying boarding parties that sway all in their paths... sure, that's exactly what Naval Action does not need.

Oddly enough didn't have a single issue with rudder yesterday evening. Lucky me

Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to pietjenoob's topic in National news
Jezzebus al'mighty. That's a farmer's mid morning snack, by all means, not a let's-wake-up meal Nothing like good bread, cheese, smoked meats, jelly and either rich milk or black beer. And coffee. -
