Preliminary patch 9.99 deployed to testbed server
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Ink's topic in Patch notes
Forum accounts / in game chat voting in the server they will play on post wipe ? It is half half from the same hearsay source as you certainly have. Future servers are EU, Global and PvE. There's no US. Also what does that question is anything related to the hotfix !? Stick to the subject.-

Maybe the issue is not the lack of chasers but the "tag to keep in instance" mechanic ? Control as a mechanic could replace all these chaser needs. ( most ships I like have no chasers. Privateer, Lynx, Navy Brig, Cerberus. I rely on control and a good tag or else I have to let the prey go away, that's how it is. )

Pirate ability: Spies
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Slamz's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
If Pirates have no territory and start in free ports and can only Raid, I don't see why they couldn't. It is the oldest discussion in the book and we should keep renewing and refreshing the ideas for a more unique Pirate gameplay indeed. -
You give the feedback where it is due. Not at every corner, at every step, at every opportunity and everytime you sit to type something. There are some things you cannot change and by writing the same jackass mantra in every thread even if it is not even remotely related is pure spam and trolling, sorry. That red post was simply to say - do not spam the entire forum with a Message that is already posted in the appropriate thread.

Fire surely has changed. It is more catastrophic. Testbed with Trincomalee in 9.98, twice on fire, first time went into shock pretty fast, fire was mid ships and spreading fore and aft. Second time was on the stern, under control but kept cooking. Eventually the spanker got fire, and structure was being eaten away. Is not similar to Live, feels different... more serious. Oh and don't think about turning off survival. It is hell to pay.

Instead of three 3 powder stores and the monkey crews running like mad back and forth imagine expanding it to 3 main stores and 3 additional fast access depots, so 3 at stern quarter batteries, 3 more at the bow quarter batteries. More places with powder, more chances of something to go bad. Faster access to powder, faster reload. Actually any feedback about this is great if anything is not sounding good and proper. And proper means not always only with the positives but also the possible negatives.

If you Rank up like a newcomer will you simply unlock the 3 slots as you gain XP for rank and crew allowance. You are not looking to the system without any ulterior considerations to your own individual character, which is already max rank with the old system.

Ship Knowledge
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
This is sorely confusing. I would expect the Hard Cap to be the best speed achieved ( close to recorded history for example ) by that specific ship completely outfitted and trained for speed. -
We are moving a bit away from the hotfix specific topics. Discussion is solid in itself, but unrelated to the hotfix. Fixed bugs: Crew and hp bug in mission battle result screen Bug with not working reverse speed Trade window bug (players lost their ships they traded via trade window) Cargo duplication bug Other changes: Crew button added to Repair option in OW More content added to Pirate Den Perk reset cost decreased from 100 to 50 marks.

Ship Knowledge
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Okay, inverse question. A ship trimmed, perked, and manually sailed for speed will reach the hard cap. A ship that is not, will not. Summing, a hard cap is the best top speed a ship can hope to achieve IF all construction and use of the ship is focused on speed ? -

Question, by Hard Cap ( example Speed ) you mean a model completely trimmed, perked and captained for best speed profile, including manual yards positioning, might reach that limit ? Or is it simple guess work that it could be like that ? -
Thank you for the video. What I would promote would be the extension of time needed to repair the same amount you did there but in 3x the time it takes now and leave the cooldown. For one, engaging repairs is a decision that will cost prolonged time of crew deviated from other duties. Second, it has to be meaningful - do I repair now and risk the timer or do I wait and force the enemy to do it ? In sum: - Repair time three times longer ( for the same amount ) - Cooldown as it is.

Rework of Alliances
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Aventador's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Anything NOT to make a return to the stale status we suffered for months due to misuse of alliance mechanic. -
Well, does a harmless AI warship annoy that much ? That's the now.

Maybe they will be triggered as Corsair AI in the future ?

"Business Agents"
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Vernon Merrill's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Perks as I see it is a way of deciding what "career" the player is more focused at a point. Maritime trader ? Navy corsair ? Smuggler privateer ? While the choices can be limited at the moment a expansion of those ( and reviewed effects ) can make those choices have a lasting impression. While nothing is blocked and a player can still engage in all activities his focus, at any given moment, can be told by the perks he selects. I don't see them as a way to "overpower" the player but rather a way to "define" the path the player wants to make... until he resets them that is. So maybe, just maybe, similar to the Fleets, this is also a good subject to be perked.- 21 replies

Partial removal of fast travel
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The US Nation description when choosing nation at start actually refers that fact you just posted. That one of its traits is being away from the main routes thus being somewhat relatively safe.
