  1. Can achieve same results by several means - several mechanics are inplace to provide the player with choices of how to apply their time ( in exchange for no eco/crafting ) to acquire ships. Capture NPC ships. Can get rare drops that can be xchanged for pvp marks. Can go out and capture enemy ships. Etc... DLC ships give complete carefree bypass of economy/crafting other than guns and repairs.
  2. Takes 1 drop from a AI grind sold to someone to be able to "redeem" 10 L'Hermiones. Dont' even have to engage in PvP. Look to the game mechanics please. Mechanics are not human. They have no feelings, nor do they feel any pains. They give plenty of leeway to players to achieve results, by other means rather than the obvious. o7 laters
  3. That's right. All my PvP marks go for L'Hermiones ( absolutely love her ). Works perfectly for me and my free time. Being free - non dlc - why not more use her ?...
  4. Given all shots are calculated, don't know how much more taxiing a 25v25 battle would be to calculate 50 individual flags.
  5. 100% agree. One beautiful thing about NA is that, even if you take a step away for weeks, you won't be behind anyone. Try to do that in other games. One week away and suddenly the gap of "character" to your friends is huge...
  6. You make some fair points, if a serious consideration is made regarding economy and crafting, which is not even a reality. 30 PvP marks have no RL counterpart value. It is a "individual" consideration, as you well put, of a imaginary value in regards only to yourself. Hobby time costs nothing, it is free time. On the business side of things... if it would've been a "classic frigate" design to be the DLC everyone would be happy and not so "alarmed", but Frigates can be captured from the NPC fleets. How many can a player capture in 2 hours ? 3 ? 5 ? And they come equipped with guns already. True, no Trinc nor Santa Cecilias on those.
  7. No traitors nor cowards. Keep the Nation strong, united and free of "personal interests (clans)" by appropriate ruling.
  8. In truth all thing point out to rig type and amount of gun on the captain's letters and reports So guess there's that. In game we have numeral rates.
  9. Yeah, guess so. On another related point, which is intricately connected to eco.war.eco cycle ( at the expense of the no.eco.just.pvp crews ), it is "absurd" the amount of players that play this multiplayer game solo mode. That alone is a big chunk of the factor that ruled out many of the "risk" of the OW and the lobbying towards more and more and more safety was rampant. Instead of sailing with friends, give us forts. Then forts were not enough anymore. Now the zones are not enough anymore. I mean... If Fine woods would be reviewed and re.implemented then the playerbase in the Caribbean server would have to accept the fact that theirs and the enemies resource routes would be a "warzone" in itselves. But guess it is too much to expect. But we beyond that now. I am eagerly waiting for September and all the updates, hotfixes, etc.
  10. Thanks So what would it be ? Rig, then gun count, then tonnage ? Seen sloops of war with as many guns as 5th rates, but they weren't rate as so. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.
  11. Stargate going to be closed, finally ? Wow 😮 ...
  12. I do. Obviously you don't. All ships are OP given the opportunity to equip so. All ships will be able to rampage hit and run given the equipment. Been there, done that. Is done everyday but you look only to Xebec. Sorry, i do not make selective observations as it fits me or not. ( suddenly the eco is important !?.... gimme a break. been fighting for hardcore logistics for too long now that i made my peace with - grab ship. sail out. fight. GG. logoff )
  13. Before clans mechanics ( port conquest, taxes, friendly clans to enter PBs, etc ) were even a thing, players could beam themselves into other nations along with their friends. The "clan" existed already even if there wasn't a registered name at all. A group of 2 players is a team. A Reputation system was suggested at the OW inception. It would affect all. Including YOU as a navy officer if you'd fail your duties, such as failing to be brave. An example ( taken from historical accounts and changed to fit ) of raising reputation would be... - " (...) On the 20th of August, the (insert your ship name here ) of 38 guns, Captain Cetric de Cornusiac, being on a cruize in the bay, fell in with two enemy frigates, which when perceiveing 'being under chace', separated; Captain Cetric pursued the largest (...)" Actually sir, I think you are onto to something and I like it. But it must work both ways - for traitors of the nation and for cowards as well.
  14. There's battles that ended in 1 broadside and battles that lasted for days ( including chase ). We have the same in NA.
  15. There we go again... She is a 5th rate and rightfully so due to first considerations - rigging. Fact. If you want to call her a unrated that's on you. Opinion. Saying there's two 6th rates DLC. Lie.
  16. It is a 5th rate. And rightfully so being a full rig, 3 mast "veffel".
  17. Hercules is a 5th rate. And rightfully so, being a full rig.
  18. Then bring up the right arguments. Not the same excuses. Meta is meta. Some of us strive for variety, always.
  19. Correct Fenris. Proper game rule design then. Let's write a rulebook and then give it to the coders. All good games start with pencil and paper. That way we can notice the loopholes without having the coders to jump around trying to fix the loopholes we didn't predict when we all suggested the stuff in the past. That would be extremely helpful and we would be participating actively in a rule system design.
