Captin, we're safe! .. Are we?

@Licinio Chiavari perhaps at a certain point of your NA career, when you have farmed enough noobs you will realize, that it's actually bad for the game. Until then, fair winds. o7 -

Captin, we're safe! .. Are we?

If it comes if it doesn't - and for hours and days and month - then one could ask, where are all the players. Hiding in their zones waiting for an ezpz gank. Imo of course. I shared your opinion for a very long time. All I want is pew pew all day long. If pvpers do that without safe zones the seas will be empty. Entirely. I'm sure of that, I truely believe it. If the seas are empty I can't pew pew anymore. So I search for other possibilities to fill the seas with prey. If this means make the pve crowd happy so be it. I hope (but ofc I don't know) that more happy players will get out of the boring pve and join the real fun. It doesn't say PvP Server btw but someone told that already. I define a seal by it's abilities in PvP. Sorry I can't see that this is in any way dependent on the PvE rank a player has reached in this game. Therefore most encounters i would call seal clubbing, especially when one does it in front of the enemies capital, where there are mostly these kind of players. Let them have 5k hours in the game, if they don't fight pvp they still suck at it, and this is fine. So you say that you have to kill noobs because only this way you can sustain your playstyle? That's sad, but your problem. By killing those noobs at KPR you make your problem a game problem - sry my english is limited, I hope you understand what I mean. Read my answer on huliotkd. Concerning the fir/fir gank squads and the Req Meta: I consider both the amongst the poorest, cheapest and least skillful. I understand why, but it's so boring, as one can only pick on "arrrghh filthy casuals". Perhaps I am kind of old school here and prefer a decent frigate fight over every other engagement. -

Okay thanks I got you. Though one of the major issues (for me and many pvpers I talked to) is, that as long as fighting inside safe areas is possible, you wont get people to leave it. If a casual has a choice between waiting for enemies to come to him and fighting on his conditions, why would he leave. As long as pvp is possible in those areas OW will stay empty and people will get into these zones again and again. By making it harder for attackers I fear they will just come in rarer numbers but those inside the reinforcement zone won't come out. Still I'm looking very much foreward to the mission changes tbh. This definately is a step in the right direction. ❤️ -

Glad we agree Though I get my elite refits from sealed bottles like every casual player. Never bought one for 3+x million. Whoever does needs to pump the pariseans like crazy. -

you mean top ranked players? I harshly disagree, that a Rear Admiral is a veteran. To me there is just NO difference between a Captain and a RA but the amount of crew he is allowed to command. The ranks are PvE ranks and have NOTHING AT ALL to do with PvP. Why should it not be possible to let someone play on this server PvE all day and RvR in the evenings? Imo that should be the players choice. Sorry but all the pvpers saying high ranks shouldn't be protected, I can only tell: attack pvpers instead of those who don't want to pvp. Ofc this implies that, by leaving the safe zone you agree to pvp. Give people choices and they will finally get out of their cosy nests. Or is it that everybody wants to show off with great screenies where you beat the double amount of players that didn't actually want to fight you? @huliotkd I would gladly see you fight @z4ys and @Hethwill the Harmless in prince and privateer. But hey it's a sandbox. A hint: hes always at KPR with a couple of other Requin Pros fighting honest fights against honest british captains. -

Wouldn't that be a paradoxon? The last attempt to drag people out of the safe zones by new mission system and claiming there is a possibility to address the RoE (which would, in the proposed way drag people out of the safe zones for sure) after localization. Perhaps I did not read your post correctly, could you clarify it please? -

Do I smell salty tears? (do they actually smell, someone got empirical or factual data on it?) Huge BR means the same reinforcement as before. Are there other 6th AI reinforcements than Brig, Snow, Merc? With an Elite Pirate Rig she still runs pretty fast downwind. And now tell me that staying behind an enemy and killing crew and guns with the swifels and pudhing him into the wind is a skill, when you're faster downwind? Pirate rig got nerfed by 1/3 and not to unusability. The Requin now is just fine. It's where it belongs. -

Thx @Liq perhaps we can have a proper discussion on this matter now. I'll quickly describe my "perfect NA": 1000 + X players. Why? Pew pew whenever I want it and improvement of pvp quality. Agreed to those saying keep the sandbox, the sea is hard and so shall this game. We learned it that way, likewise shall others. Fortunately the battles now imply another factor with leeway, adding depth. Unfortunately this steepens the learning curve. In addition we have capitals being constantly raided by veterans sailing small vessels, using skill and gear advantage over those who aren't really able to protect themselves: our future pvp pros, who - again unfortunately - won't make it there in numbers. They don't even get close to see daylight usually. This leads us to the current state of NA: supported by a low number of stubborn lovers, rarely getting reinforced by new players to enter the spheres. To change that I'm after a longtime willing to sacrifice some sandbox where there is no limits. It hurts me to see good players - sry I have to say that, mainly from those nations with te biggest safe zones aka Britain, France and Spain (don't know about US the zone is big but it seems more like a bubble as they can't get out there RvR wise) - to sit in the capitals' pubs chatting, just waiting for some poor ganked fellow to call them for help. The current RoE inside the reinforcement zones support two aspects: noobs getting killed in higher numbers (again skill and gear gap) than ever (it feels so atleast) and "more honorable" pvpers searching for fights finally ending up in RZs aswell being ganked by the coastguard, who want to pvp desperately but whose lazyness to search for fights themselves overcomes the desperation for pvp. The usual conversation then looks like that: "meh bloody coastguard gankers" - "meh why do you come here and what do you expect" conversation ends, fun ended before the battle even started. Personally I EXPECT PvPers to go for PvP so I don't have to come down to KPR, FR, LH and ring them out of their pubs. *turns off whining about sad state of game* TL;DR +1 for safe safe zones, one for each nation, content incoming with next patch looked even more promising IF we had these changes. Thanks to @jodgi, @z4ys and @King of Crowns for your comments, nice to read. @Banished Privateer methinks the current "high sec" only provides content for perhaps two players of one nation, so: does this work? -

Make safe zones safe (again?).!
Palatinose replied to Percival Merewether's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I think I love you @Percival Merewether. Sounds like NA wonderland except for the issue Basnished has adressed. I see no reason to cut the rewards. "Most importantly: Casuals will never be annoyed again by any gankers or actual PvP’ers looking for a fight. PvP’ers can now fight each-other and brave PVE’ers can explore the beautiful map of Naval Action in hopes of finding new riches while I search for them.!" That perhaps sounds a bit too idealistic though -
Very nice fight Sir damn those beaches, sorry for having to quit early, I owe my fellows a bunch of ships. @North can you come and take Carta now please? We hoped our little Volkssturm would sting the bear a little We also had an arranged fight with KoC and Co. in the patrol zone. A random Frenchy joined but did not really do harm to us (or the french side I hope). Donner leaked one full health Buc after the first engagements, pretty sure that enabled us to win as - until then we couldn't really get a grip. French stuck together finely, as always I got greedy and cocky and when seeing to sink, had to yell at @sam121252 for my mistakes 🙈 Nice fight overall. Room for improvements for both parties I'd say. Oh and ofc: yes Donner you did well

Patch 26. Spanish Frigate Diana, BR rebalance - Diana is a timed reward.

Another question. Have you adressed the stern of Diana? Being hit by ball the holes weren't shown yesterday (except for an exact rudder hit). -

Anybody (admin? Ink?) got some intel on the Dianas' tweaks? She performs less good (but still very fine and not totally OP anymore) close hauled. Turning still is tremendous. -

Add AI back to fleet battles.
Palatinose replied to shr84's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Well most AI fight better than players already. Nonetheless it's just no fun. Even if you buffed them further and made them end boss skilled. People don't want to BE FORCED to fight bots. Some do it by choice and as @jodgi said choices are very important to provide a basis for diverse playstyles. But please leave it also a choice to the player not to fight AI. Imo discussions on proper reinforcement area rework are needed desperately, but this idea will probs find very few supporters amongst the active pvp players. As said multiple times, incentives to drag EVERYBODY WHO WISHS TO PVP out of the reinforcement areas are needed. I don't want to club noobs but I will, as long as there are few targets on the OW (non RZ) due to game reasons. Moral of players is by experienced highly limited. So introduce working mechanics to keep hunters away from the RZ's to make it a more enjoyable game for everyone. PLEASE.- 13 replies

Le Requin Testing and Feedback
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I understood Massimo thanks for the credit, I don't really think I deserve it. Well I will try to be more precise aswell then. Every player has a certain preference in sailing. Some have always been fans of the hit and run tactics. This one may like or not. To me there is basically no difference between the fir fir 5th meta and the Requin meta now (talking about capital areas). To both tactics, the targets are limited, as it will always be newbies/casuals that will suffer the most. And the coastguard will always be annoyed, as it's harr to catch them. It's a "natural development" of hunters and coastguards, which has always existed. The appearance may differ, the problem stays. Hunters establish a meta, the coastguard counters it. This problem will exist forever (unless we have fixes). To me there is no fun in push-pull-kill, but it is a valid playstyle. So who are we to judge different playstyles? Can there be a judge at all? I bet there are numberous people that dislike me kiting them when they outnumber me. I dislike people that only engage when victory is certain. Does this matter? Not at all, imo. -
Le Requin Testing and Feedback
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Well I have to disagree on the Requin Massimo. As I said imo it's a question of experience. Any skilled captain in an average square rigger can escape Le Requin (also consider the amount of chains she is able to shoot). Considering the ability to catch her - a comparison. Will you catch a fast 5th with only ohne fast 5th? It's not that likely imo. Why so coastguards outnumber their enemy? They want to catch him/her. So transfer this to a Requin and you will be forced to sail schooner's (that the correct term?) to catch it. One may not like that, but to me there is actually not much of a difference to very fast Hercs, Endys or any other ship being trimmed to hunt in capital waters. It's a question of how far people are willing to adjust their playstyle to new metas. I used to "hunt" in capital waters and had to quit this style after battles stayed open for 90 minutes - it probably hasn't been fair before and after the changes it wasn't fair either. Okay the perspectives changed. It's a constant up and down in capital areas. And it's in the same way double standards to want hunters to be always caught as it is to be able to hunt down proper targets and be able to always escape if it gets too much. So imo that's a question of RoE of reinforcement zones, but that's another topic. Overall that's not an issue of Le Requin, but players willing to adjust their hunting styles and being honest about that. Fair winds, apologise my impoliteness please. -
Le Requin Testing and Feedback
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I think it's fine not to be able to catch a Requin upwind. If it had been a prince the same "issue" would have occured. One could discuss the issue of demasted vessels and their performance. Overall rig damage has a gamey performance, though imo that's not too big of an problem. For sure not one of higher priority. @MassimoSud methinks you describe a classical meeting of vets vs newbies. Nearly every square rigger is now able to escape a Requin (even with elite pirate) on 180° (even broadreach). That's ofc if the player knows that. So all (from what I read) you could accuse the two players of, is that they picked on noobs. But who doesn't, or does not gank etc. Think there is a biblical picture including guilt and stones...
