  1. there were at least two on the last three pages. please adjust your expectations.
  2. Sir this is a summary of great ideas. Might be one of the best posts in the last years, as it provides soooo much content for an average player, probably prolonging the mediocre playtime by hundreds of hours I take my hat off to you!
  3. To add some spices here: How do you lose with two Indiamen against a PFrig?
  4. Don't get me wrong I don't think it's a bad idea per se. Though the picture it creates is not too positive. Fighting heated up communications with a "comm stop" creates the feeling of being pushed to hard, being tired of talking or in the worst case abusing ones power to silence critics. I unterstand it, but as Malachy said, it should have happened earlier. The lesson i draw from all this is once again, that people obviously are often unable to find a healthy way of interpersonal communication in social media or the Internet in general. Lack of facial expression and gestures leads to misunderstandings, but instead of asking further, assumptions are made leading to even more mistaken interpretations. So yes I understand the move, it's just sad it has come so far.
  5. May I offer my service as in game tax consultant? Charging only 10k a day or 250k a month. First advice is for free: simply put money into the clan warehouse to hide it from the authorities. If someone comes up with the idea to tax wealthy clans I request to form a entity model called foundation with legal capacity which donates 5k daily to nationals with socially disadvantaged background, therefore not being taxable at all. Jokes aside, when it comes to taxes it gets complicated to balance things, therefore I can't support @Anolytics ideally nice idea.
  6. According to an old saying there usually is a silent majority, mostly more conservative. To both ends of the spectrum there usually is also a more radical and more noisy crowd. Open communication means to deal especially with these tips of the range. There is three basic points to consider for @admin imo: 1) do you believe to have created a better product thanks to communities feedback or not? 2) do you believe the consequences of open communication are a reason to sell more or less copies of your product? 3) are the ressources you put into open communication (nerves, time,...- as non-PR person it's not primary your job) worth it?
  7. Only battle chat logs if I understood correctly..but yeah that was great indeed!
  8. @HachiRoku man those were the days. I couldn't stop laughing. Draskon and me were in two Frigates roaming around MT when about 8-10 Sorry guys ganked us. And LV started... #sorryneverlostapb Glorious days 😍 @jodgi thx for this thread mate
  9. As many fair points as you might have it's many things, but obvious or logical, mmh I don't know..bet there are loads of players who would never play NA on peace server, but hey, who am I to know that to be obvious. On the other hand, who are you? Oh yeah, the voice of the people..
  10. Okay let's put it differently: players will search for the highest profit at lowest time effort. You can't blame people for not behaving "morally correct" in a game. If it's a big issue, set rules, if it isn't: accept or leave. To speak in your class picture: if a peasant came to riches, you think he would share it amongst his class or try to rise to Bourgeoisie?
  11. @angriff I somehow understand your grief concerning low margins, but I don't get why clans are to blame for it? As Teutonic, Angus and others said already: the trade profits are not the players fault. The possibility to raise 10% taxes are not the players fault. You talk much about peasants, Bourgeoisie and elites - perhaps it's the system, not the classes or individuals you have to blame? But I give you that: NA is designed primarily around and for clans. That's because they have the biggest lobby, which they have because it's most peoples preferred playstyle. One could compare it to german politics in regard of families: families, especially those in marriages are supported in many ways by the state. It's firstly cultural and secondly simple maths, as most people are still in family units, providing large amount of votes.
  12. If I understand you correctly: no restrictions but the 3 minute timers? And what exactly is there much different from now but 1 minute? Now you can join for 2 min and THEN BR restrictions are effective? How does it - under these circumstances - limit you?
  13. Could you elaborate a bit further on this please? Count the ports in the map. New port features enable clans to give ports value. RNG rare wood distribution makes every port potentially even more valuable. Imo there is enough space for thousands of players to take part in actions they want to take part in, especially after a wipe. In sweden, and I'm very certain in other nations aswell, we had trouble to distribute the ports of lesser interest. No one wanted them, so the bigger clans took them to pay the bills for the sake of a blue-yellow coloured homeland. New mechs: a port is, what those who own it, make of it.
  14. That's something entirely different than what you're asking in OP. And I would support a BR based on equipment, at least mods and ship quality. Though it's probably a real mess to calculate it and very difficult for pb commanders. Regarding your OP poll: how is it connected to your example of an Inger and three Indiaman? What further advantage do you need with such a fleet?
  15. If NPC buys anything for 1 real, the warehouse is filled. Or it's a bug and to be reported. Or I am incorrect, which is tremendously unlikely
  16. Not sure whether pve will also be wiped tbh. @Sunleader pro tip: you can also trade with other players.
  17. Do I assume right then, that e.g. a 3rd rate will drag a 5th rate in a duel including PZ RoE in the frigate PZ? Or does your statement only apply for Nassau Patrol (limited by shallows)?
  18. The issue isn't black and white. Agreed to both sides: @victor points out correctly that this feature will mainly leave non-experienced players with problems. On the other hand has it been this way even with RZs: those who understood the mechanics used them and did not lose much/anything. @Rabman compared to the times you describe, many factors have been added: stronk clans will have the best materials and ships, coming out of newb mode is a longer way. PvP is not everywhere like in the days, it's limited and in many cases a pro vs. noob game. With 2.5k players, no big differences in woods and mods, cheap ships pvp was everywhere as the time/effort to reenter it, was fairly lower than now. Meaning players who start now will have a much harder time to get ships and therefore competibility in combat. For a long time I was so annoyed of all the RAs sitting in their cosy warmth until I realized, if there is just more players, statistic tells me, there will be more of those ready to leave. I wouldn't care if we went all hardcore, but neither me nor you are casuals. I entirely lack the understanding for this way to play, but for numbers' sake make the zones entirely safe but the "real" ow more rewarding. I fear as others said already that there won't be more PvP as players with a desire for peaceful gaming and partial excitement will choose the peace server now rather than become targets. One server for all game styles.
  19. Perhaps ask @rediii which ship he would choose if offered for free. There is a difference between advertising the use of other woods and denying the mathematical fact of rare woods' superiority. Nontheless we agree that the captains skill is more important. And that's all I'm argueing here for.
  20. A "pro" who says woods don't matter is obviously not a "pro". Could you please quote some of those saying woods don't matter, as I have never read that.
  21. On a side note: shortness in supplies also puts people closer together. Never since the last big wipe have I had that much fun in NA due to people of one nation cooperating that closely. When we had few we shared to a much higher degree than in later stages when everybody had everything.
  22. Despite you're right imo with the pointed out problem (unless you were in a T-Brig or so - therefore plz give Infos on your used ship) I wouldn't agree to this. It's like in real life: if you are polite, you usually get a polite answer.
