Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Fenriks mentionned already back then the efforts to force players into the open world, now it'll be inevitable, with the last non-OW lobby element being removed (which a good amount enjoyed), and getting into action in OW being made more hard.-

Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch

We'll get both character XP and craft XP through redeemables, once you redeemed those they will be gone. When you delete your char again after that point, you'll start from 0 again.-

Why are the playernumbers so low?
Liq replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Most players look at time spent in a game as an investment, they want to achieve something. By achieving something (get a ship crafted, have xy amount of gold) they're having fun. Knowing that will all be gone, they dont see much point in playing. Then there's the other players, that play the game for the momentum, to have good battles, nice chats. Those are the last remaining still playing, I guess -
POLL. Removal of Global Chat
Liq replied to Koltes's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Problem I've noticed a few times lately is people nowadays get triggered wayyy too easily. And if they do, they don't just do the smart thing and close that source of "toxicity" they cannot stand, no, instead they fuel the total salt level of chat with their salt, and it goes on, and on, and on. (Also my main issue with the whole RvR aspect. Kindergarden if you ask me.) You cannot simply disable global chat in a sandbox MMO where the last remaining active 500 players know each other because you're too lazy to moderate chat. That is what the moderators applied for, not just to get their fancy Moderator title I hope?? Hire more moderators if needed, I'm sure more would be willing to help.. Also harshen the chatban penalties, so players have to learn eventually. If not they'll be perma banned after a few times. This is no competetive lobby based matchmaking game such as WoT where you get a clear objective with battle start (destroy the enemy) which logically can lead to a shit ton of salt. I get that chatting with your opponent is beyond all realism.. but come on.. If you pull the realism card, might aswell stop sailing around in combat ships and start trading 24/7. So much fun right? It's a GAME, make the balance needed between gameplay fun and realism. -

Average Joe player needs to get the feeling what he's doing benefits him in whatever way, he needs achievements, as z4ys already stated -

Regarding chatting with opponents: How about a rework of the friendlist, so you can actively choose if you want an enemy able to send you messages or if you want to keep him silent (be it because you don't like his "toxicity" or what ever) Just striking a to many players important game feature because of a hand full of super toxic players doesn't seem reasonable-

It will just insanely aggravate the current "Only-the-elite-25-get-to-join-a-PB" problem. No good to be coming from making them more rare. also, 5+ a day? half a year ago maybe. lol-

Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I've probably spent more time doing nothing else than seeing nothing in open world while looking for a target rather than time spent in battle. I really enjoy the thrill of OW. However, with absolutely NO towing mechanics, have fun sailing to a port battle in enemy territory in your 1st rate across the map. Even if you planned to build your 1st rate nearby where the actual PB happened, you'd still have to get all ressources/regional notes to that port in a trader, no more FT-FT delivery Also, hunting in a frigate in hot waters, combined with the upcoming 1 dura system (which I think is good) will result in having to afk sail your ships to the place you want them soooo much.-

Not saying OW is boring, in fact i've had tons of good fights in the OW too, however players need to be given reasons to sail around in OW, it needs to be rewarding if succesful, something special. OW at its current state is lacking that just don't see why we can't have both aspects in the same game, that small battle option didn't hurt anyone not participating in them, did it?-

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am terribly sorry to announce a huge loss, Small Battles, as we know them, will die, as announced by @admin It has been a lot of fun, but now it's time to say goodbye to those awesome random brawls. Rest in Peace

Ranking based on skill
Liq replied to Captain Mulec's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Personally I dont think locking the ability to crew certian ships (lineships mainly) through a skill-rank is a good idea. Many people just want to have a nice brawl in a 25v25 now and then, don't really bother too much about their 'skill' but just want to enjoy the scenery/gameplay, and I think that has to be respected. However, in the past there were a few good proposals regarding a seperate ranking system. Zooloo came up with a good one, which focusses on something more optical rather than strictly locking crew behind a wall which might drive many players off. I really think some kind of reputation system would really improve the general game experience for OW-PvP players and at the same time encourage them to actively look for targets, promote PvP. Might work well combined with a bounty system as suggested by Hachiroku Admin came up with a proposal: -
Yup, it is agile indeed, but it doesnt take many mistakes to screw up in it. Surps masts are paper, as demonstrated often enough by @TommyShelby. I remember one battle, a few other brits and me in surps vs. OCEAN guys in cecilias, we didn't stand a chance. Tommy had one demasted after his first single-shot-broadside.

Cedar Speed Pirate fit, quite common nowadays I never "trashed" him. The way I approached him first was gentle and friendly (see page 2 of this thread). However, his reactions seemed quite childish. Mainly wanted to indicate that NA can also be a solo game, as he said it strictly cannot, which is obviously false. Short extract: "Devs Should Have told them “Naval Action is not a Solo game. The more friends you have, the better your experience will be in this game. Its better (more fun) to play with a group, than to play with yourself." I've spent most of my well over 3k hours on this game as a solo player, been enjoying it very much and know a few others that are feeling the same. However, the way he reacted was below the level for me to keep respecting him (and his opinions). Just throwing around with carebear pictures in this thread, accusing others gameplay styles not to be correct, to be the only one who knows whats right etc.. So after our encounter (him having fleetships, which is, if I may say so, freaking HILARIOUS when calling others carebears) I felt like giving some of those carebears he posted back.. Honestly, in open world, you should get what you see. Has always been my opinion, will always be. Now, I think Signaling rules may have to be applied for all battles, just to counter offensive gankers, as in those that feel like they're being awesome by attacking someone outnumbering him 5 to 1. The guy outnumbered should have the possibility to call for help and get it. We've had open battles before, and it sucked. Could barely enjoy a fight, never knew what ship would appear out of nowhere in a minute or two. May be thrilling for some, but for me it just ruins the complete game. What's the point in a 1v5+? 1v2 or 1v3 may be doable, when equal ships, but anything above is just pure ZERG force. Might also have to say I'm pro-signaling-for-all-battles because I'm a solo player, solo hunting. The fights I enjoy the most are small frigate battles. Why would you want a nice frigate duel being disturbed by anything like a lineship reinforcement fleet? might aswell stop playing in that case. Asked for that before, basically a game parallel to the open world game where the main goal is to have nice and equal fights. A lobby system. I get that the guys operating in RvR have absolutely no interest in that, and I respect that, but still think for people that just want to enjoy a nice and equal fight now and then such a lobby system would be very useful. Some mod told me maybe in a few years there will be a new game by gamelabs focussed on those elements. We can hope.

Naval Action on Youtube
Liq replied to Thomas Blackwell's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Probably the biggest "wtf-moment" ive ever had in this game, was not expecting it at all. (I did spray into his rigging/mats on range for a good while before though, so i guess I was just lucky with the timing)- 829 replies

Crafting and blueprint changes
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
"In addition to that there is a recently killed timer (1hr) that does not give you any reward if you kill that player again within 1 hour (limiting the marks farming on Alts)" Still not the best solution imo, people owning a few alts, (I know a few owning 5+) could still farm several times per hour. I think Alt-Abuse (farming wise) should be punished much more harshly if caught. So players should be made aware of the consequences of abusing alts. -
Only missing a Piratehat now for your facecam looks good

Ive played on pvp2 US for the first 1/3 year (because when I first started there were login queues of 30ish minutes for pvp1 EU), ping of 100 ish (while living in Switzerland), which wasnt too bad, given Naval Action is no instant action game like a shooter or anything similar

Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Okay, sounds good. New question: Will it be possible to convert captured ships (which are worth a certain amount of PvP marks) into PvP marks with which you can buy other items from the admirality store? Or What are the options to do with a caputed ships which is worth a certain amount of PvP marks?-

Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Why did you remove rewards for capturing someone? Didn't most of the battles in real life result in ships surrendering / getting captured rather than being sunk? I know a few people that own 5+ alts. So it would still be possible to farm 5 times per hour. I also know this issue is not easy to fix. But I think a better solution has to be found. Alt-Abusing should, in my opinion, be treated much more harshly. I'm well aware of the fact that you as a Game-Developpment-Team have no interest in banning alts, since the'yre a good income to keep the game going. Still think it should be made very clear to the players that alt abuse, if caught, has serious consequences.-

Well they're gonna buff forts (for port battles at least) for whatever reason. Not going the right way imo
