You can still loot a ship after it's sunk, for a minute or two. Need to be very careful when next to an AI ship; If they have more crew than you, they will always try to board, if the speed allows it.

yup, only blueprint obtainable through the admirality shop is the pirate frigate, no lineships. -
POLL. Removal of Global Chat
Liq replied to Koltes's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I'm glad. But. you might consider removing pirate national chat. With the upcoming changes, pirates are not really a nation anymore, (as it should have been from the start) (they can't craft lineships so can't really participate in RvR anymore, and at the same time they are able to attack each other). The latter will result in a toxicity level insanely high, i'm sure. Alone on the testbed, I've seen more salt / insults in the pirate 'national' chat than on global in weeks. -
Afaik P means you can get a building there, which you can't for trading goods A = Available after maintenance

Wipe patch to live servers slightly delayed.
Liq replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
your xp is safe on both servers, so if you were max rank on one server, you are also max rank on the other server. If you decide to switch servers, you will still have your redeemable XP on the new server (if you have logged in to all servers before wipe)-

You can have a character on both servers which dont affect each other. But you need to log in to all servers and get some XP before the wipe in order to synch your xp lvl across all servers. -
Testbed - Demasting & Accuracy cap
Liq replied to Liq's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
I think demasting is a bit more than just 'point and click'; You're risking a lot by dedicating yourself to taking down masts. If you take too long / miss too much, you will pay the price. -
Testbed - Demasting & Accuracy cap
Liq replied to Liq's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
That one didn't register properly (in the top) -
I've been testing demasing on the testbed for a bit. There seem to be quite a few new +accuracy upgrades / skill books. The ones a clanmate has found so far are the following: "Table Of Parts Of Ships Of War" -10% Dispersion "Flag Officer" -8% Dispersion "Sir William Congreve's Sights" -5% Dispersion Additionally, if running carronades, the perk "Carronade Expert" lowers the Dispersion by another 5%. All these buffs combined result in an accuracy bonus of +28%. Now, I'm wondering, is there a cap for dispersion? Because I think the point of Carronades is to be somewhat in-accurate close up damage dealers and they're not meant to be laser guided missiles. Combined with the buff regarding demasting (It takes 7 32pdr hits to demast a surp's main mast, see the video below), and the repair time being upped to 15 minutes, demasting might actually become a more often used thing to do in battle. We will know once it goes to live servers I'm very curious to see. (In this Video I didn't have any accuracy buffing upgrades / skill books, so imagine if someone stacks all possible upgrades together, that might result in some crazy sniper action.)

I think he was pointing out the definition of a hotfix which is the fixing of critical bugs / exploits, as it is here. Adding new content is not really a hotfix.

Did you also fix the bug where upgrades on a ship are shown in the stats list, but not equipment screen? e.g. trade someone a ship who's got all slots unlocked on it, he then chooses the upgrades for you and gives you the ship back. It would then list the upgrades in teh stats list but not in the equipment screen as the slots are not unlocked.

This has been discussed lifely in the past few months. No better solution than setting up two servers for the two major timezones could be found, so people stopped taking each others ports without any resistance. I think we should test two servers first, rather than jumping to conclusions too early. It might turn out nice, two decent running servers with decent both RvR and OW PvP actions. Or it might result in one server being abandoned and everyone joining the 'main' one after a few weeks. who knows? Just the same goes for the 'anti 1 dura' arguement. Some want to already abandon the idea, before even having tested it. Give it a chance, test it, then make suggestions on what to change in what way.

Privateer, Surprise, Traders Snow and Indefatigable sounds good to me. But please don't make the Surprise Fir or something, lol First thought maybe the Indefatigable should be upgraded to something heavier, but then again it will be widely used in PBs, which is not the point of the redeemable ships I guess.

Maybe you need it for a regional refit (admin said you need the workshop building to craft refits using regional goods). But I haven't seen a list of refits so far.

I partly agree with Cino Llagas For me, there is also not much that would keep me playing on the testbed as intensively as I used to on the live server back in its glorious days of 500-750 players online. But that's simply due to the population being so low. After checking out the new mechanics / features such as strucutre etc, there is not much more to check for me as I'm not really interested in ship building / trading. I would go look for pvp, but, the fact that most players are not playing the game as they would on live server leads to barely any pvp. I heard there was some PvP to be found down in french / swedish waters, but as I'm a pirate, I dont really feel like sailing there for two hours every time. I really hope Jamaica / Haiti / La Navasse area will be populated again once the patch goes live. However, I cannot agree with the following quote: Individual player capability will always remain a big factor in any battle. Give a new player a maxed out ship with the best upgrades possible (given he also has the crew for it). He will still most likely lose versus a veteran in a non upgraded ship. This proves the fact that equipment does not equal an automatic win.

Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch

Q regarding Surgeon You can use the surgeon in boarding (pressing 5 - 3 without it actually showing up), intended or nah? Shows as negative kills for the enemy-

Post-Wipe will the game be worth playing?
Liq replied to xAzDKr's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I'm not really sure why some think it's a good idea to already abandon the 1 dura idea when we havent even tested it yet? -
Forthcoming changes in the next testbed patch

I've tested the following: Unlocked a slot on the trinc on my account, chose powder monkeys, tested the reload in battle. 55 sec. Then traded it to someone who didn't have the slot unlocked. In the ship stats it shows the powder monkeys, but in the equipment screen, it dosen't. Tested in battle too, also 55 sec. Intended? (Sorry for the watermark; I'm still looking for a decent editing software which doesn't cost 200 Euro+.)-

Ah gotcha. Well fair enough, but why would, in this case the spanish, not try to defend the ports properly? There is the possibility to get conquest marks for them aswell? Besides, I think it will be very hard to first even get to a port battle (hostility wise) without the option to grind missions / no more large npc fleets / pvp being hard to come by

Pirate Punch in the Gut
Liq replied to Mike the Mongel's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I dont think that matches with the devs idea of new players being able to choose to play as pirates if they want to, because, you know, who doesn't want to be a pirate -

none really but yea pirate gameplay will be pretty hardcore from now on And the toxicity level of pirate 'nation' chat will be extremely high. Not comparable to global. -
