  1. Testing how far you can go in the surp now with the mast buff. Liking it so far.
  2. A gun wont reload faster when there are more crew member standing around it, if it already has the amount of crew it needs. However when you're low on crew, f5 ing a side or in general crew management can allow you to reload more cannons of a side at a time.
  3. False. A cannon will either get reloaded if you've got enough crew on it, or it doesnt. F5-ing a broadside while only reloading one side, and having enogh crew, won't make a difference. Only thing that makes cannons reload faster are upgrades such as powder monkeys / improoved mag. access / ...
  4. PvP: Engagement between two hostile sides where both teams have a somewhat similar chance of winning. That doesnt mean they need to have exactly the same amount of numbers / ships; individual player abilites play a big role here too. Two vets could have an interesting battle vs 3-4 amateurs as an example. Ganking =/= pvp
  5. Nope, ive seen teak, cedar, cariguan, mahogany etc.
  6. Iirc its cedar with copper plating and gazelle figurehead and studding sails as skill book ^^ 14.56 knots in stats screen, with carros
  7. But surely that's a coincidence; as there was no mean of communication to set up a net, as prater mentionned?
  8. Would be an honour if you'd enlight us with your knowledge.
  9. 2 min join timer is OK IMO, so ships in range / sight are able to join. You shouldnt be able to tag someone and locking out another ship which didnt make it into the tiny tag circle by one inch. Anything above two min join timer runs the risk of people camping in ports to wait and hop out and jump an ongoing battle. Preparing a ship for combat took its time. I think you should be able to choose to enter to OW if you wish to do so I also see why 'teleporting' to port brings a few flaws with it. Free TP tickets across the map and such. It's really tough. Devs kinda chose the supreme discipline, making an OW MMO with two (OW and Battle) instances.
  10. It's not; but it's also not quite historical to have 30 knots ships (OW) in the first place The most realistic thing after an engagement would be that the captain would safely sail back to a friendly port, since his opponent couldnt have called in for help from fallout constitutions. And as we DO have chat / teamspeak, AND hyperwarp ships in OW, a solution needs to be found around that. On December 29th the USS Constitution under the command of Captain Bainbridge was off the coast of San Salvadore. Bainbridge spotted a British ship closer to shore. The ship was the 38 gun HMS Java commanded by Captain Henry Labert. The Java was quicker then the Constitution while the 44 gun Constitution out gunned the Java. The Java was towing an American Merchant ship that it had captured. When it spotted the Constitution it sent its captured ship into San Salvador Harbor and raced to face the Constitution. At 2PM the two ships were within cannon range. The two sides faced each other with broadsides While the Java initially out maneuvered the Constitution, the latters larger number of guns and the greater accuracy of its gunnery took a steady toll on the Java. By 3PM Captain Lambert had concluded that his only hope was to board the Constitution. That attempt failed when an accurate broadside struck his ship by the constitution that brought down his Top Mast and foremast. By 4:20 the Java’s main mask fell. An hour later when the Constitution was nearing for another run on the stricken ship the Java struck her colors and surrendered. What do you think happened after this engagement? A) Java called for help and ships teleported in to finish the Constitution, or B.) The constitution sailed back to port?
  11. in my first post of this thread I suggested adjusting invis time to 45 sec, and at the same time have a 150% speed boost, aka 1.5 times the speed you would normally sail with, into any point of wind. if the revengefleeters outside are profiting from an improoved speed to camp on battle pos., why not give the ones in battle at least a fair chance of getting away aswell? ofc that would need to be adjusted for outlaw battles to avoid obvious exploits.
  12. It's got nothing to do with 'fair fights' If this game is supposed to be realistic and hardcore, as it's advertised on the steam store page, revenge fleets aka camping on a battle location to farm easy kills has to go In my understanding, hardcore means, if you loose something, you lost it, no way to take revenge using hyperwarp ships Realistic means, after a battle, a captain would sail / escape to a friendly port to refill supply; not having to deal with in-teleporting reinforcements, aka fallout constitutions. I dont know a single other MMO that works this way. Us prefering fair fights rather than 5v1 roflstomps has nothing to do with the game mechanic, but with the player's mentality / way of approaching the game. Even if you get ganked 1v5, so be it, game is supposed to be realistic / hardcore, so if no reinforcement is around (still got 3 min join timer, which is a lot), you're pretty much doomed. Allowing to take revenge on anything by sort of abusing the way the game works with its two instances massively discourages people to 'create' pvp, but rather wait and chill in port until someone "stupid enough" comes by to deliver pvp, to then camp on his battle pos. and get easy kills. How dare anyone deliver pvp.
  13. By saying a thread / discussion is obsolete / unnecessary you kinda sold yourself already. Of course anyone has the right to add his opinion, but saying straight away a discussion is useless, seems pretty ignorant. Keep on revengeganking to boost your ego
  14. The risk of getting caught in the first place is still there? And anyone can raid others? I dont get the casual mentality of 'omg he killed me, I need to take revenge on him no matter what"
  15. lol You do understand this is only being discussed because of the fact we've got two dimensions, battle and OW instance, and therefore anyone can use the hyper speed of OW as an advantage to camp on an exact battle position, to which he would have never gotten because 1) would have taken ages getting there, if we didnt have the luxury of ow speed boost and 2) captains back in the day had no means of communication Right now, active pvp is being harshly discouraged; waiting for someone 'stupid' enough to deliver the PvP, camping on his battle position to grab an easy kill afterwards seems much more profitable If you escaped in battle, you'll basically have to escape over and over again, due to the two instances. We had TP to port before, but got removed because of whiners being salty about them loosing / not being able to control a ship properly, and wanting to take revenge on them Name one other MMO where you're forced to get revenge'd by in-teleporting help called by your opponents? Great gameplay, right? And super realistic / hardcore, as it's advertised on steam.
  16. From my understanding it's supposed to be a special / premium ship. Right now there is a challenge going, to sink / capture an AI lgv in a basic cutter as fast as possible. Top 3 players will get a cecilia. I've seen a few guys do it in 9-10 minutes, and as my best time was 13:37, ive stopped even trying. There is a reason it's that rare. It's probably the best allrounder medicore Frigate, with its awesome sailing profile and decent amarment (12s and 9s compared to the surps 9s and 6s.) The masts also don't snap as easily. If it was craftable, it would probably be spammed in OW, just like aggies in 4th rate PBs. Also, cool screenshot
  17. Lol'ed I think this thread kinda backfired, regarding showing how broken AI are ^^
  18. Absolutely unnecessary comment. If you have nothing valuable to add to the discussion, remain silent. (I bet you are one of those waiting in the capital for someone to call out a target so you can easymode jump him in a 10v1 being served on a silverplate.) Players will get bored by this type of pvp quite quickly.
  19. From my understanding, positive resistance is a bonus. Fir as an example has an insanely bad crew resistance, -20% I believe, and it makes kinda sense.
  20. http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Fallout+Constitution Ships camping on battle position using ow speed boost (rocket powered ships). "realistic". Basically the whole revenge fleet topic.
  21. I think if you limit it to pvp battles only, that should be good. So you cannot attack an npc, without the intention to fight him, just to get a free teleport ticket. I know, can still be abused using alts... But alts are a topic for themselves anyway
  22. Sorry mister, for spamming your topic with my thoughts on your proposal and bringing up more suggestions; isn't that the point of a forum? Also, the title is "Trying to solve revenge fleets", which, to me, indicates general suggestions, not just one where everyone either says "yes" or "no": I did give my feedback on your suggestion on the very first comment I made, said I didn't like it because IRL a captain would certainly not escape / leave to a hostile port. And from then on tried to enlive the discussion with more content. If that's not the goal of a forum, please a moderator delete all my comments
  23. Ah come on, we already have fallout constitutions now, so why not give the guys actively looking for pvp equal-ish bonusses? TP to port does have the risk of being exploited, teleporting to ports using battles with no intention of fighting the actual ships in the battle, that I agree, hence my suggestion above.
  24. 1) Game is advertised as Realistic (and hardcore) on the steam store page. Revenge fleets camping on battle positions doesnt seem realistic to me. 2) By doing this you're massively discouraging people to actively look for PvP, but rather wait til someone "stupid enough" comes and serves the easy mode 10v1 pvp on a silver plate. 3) You're not denying gameplay to the other side. They can go get their PvP just equally as anyone else. If you escaped, you escaped, no need to give hyperwarp ships a second chance.
  25. Also.. Are you going to ignore my first post in which I mentionned you?
