well idk; reinforcment zones still seem pretty safe to me - as the battles are still open the whole time I was in the reinforcment zones of the pirates in a belle poule. A Pirate endymion attacked me. I managed to get an early demast, but as he repaired sails and chained me, i couldn't finish him yet. 20 minutes of kiting later, a bellona and endymion joined his side, so I had to disengage. -

when you click on a battle in the la mona zone, it'll say "frigate patrol battle" -

devs never called them "safe zone" - just reinforcment zone safe zone was players invention. they are still reinforcment zones, as battles are still open for the whole time, and you get ai support.

I feel like wind changing with the ship in the 2nd tutorial will be too confusing and / or misleading for new players -
idk but back in my day (steam release), we didn't have safe zones, we didn't have fleet missions - sometimes kpr got raided, but that provided content, brought the nation together to fight them and as I see it, the way developpment is going is away from missions - Complete the exam and get your master and commander rank and a frigate; do the tutorials to learn basic manouvers, no more need for pointless hours of grinding ai

As we know, the last tournament attempt was a failure - partly organizers fault (I guess not being strict enough on setting dates), partly the result of essential changes making it pointless to continue and having a comparable result (sailing profile changes), and partly simple not being able to get 8 (+1 ref.) online at the same time for 90 minutes to have a battle. I am still very sorry for all the teams that got let down, that actually did their battles and are now disappointed. The way it ended is perhaps the worst case scenario. Thus my conclusion is that organizing a 4v4 tournament across time zones is pretty tough - And that I personally won't try it again. Why not step it down a bit? Are you interested in a 1v1 / 2v2 tournament? And if so, what ship. CONTENT. If we get enough players and see if the most liked setting is 1v1 or 2v2, discussion about ships setup can continue.

IMO we shouldnt promote running from a winnable battle even more; but surrendering should have a benefit over getting sunk

The conclusion of having a 2+ years early access alpha Lots of changes bring lots of negative reviews Example: No safezones at all: Big wave of casuals dropping a negative review; most likely won't come back Safe zones added: "Hunters" are mad and drop a negative review, likely won't come back (meanwhile old reviews complaining about capital camping are still up) Thus the huge amount of negative reviews has to be judged carefully. Game needs to settle its final rules and get to a release state, else the review stats will look even worse

Most of them; I had one case where a bunch of princes targeted and chained my belle poule - couldnt catch them. Now that should be partly solved with limited chain, so i like it. (patrol battles still need a RoE overhaul tho ) -

I didnt see you in the testing beta of NAL. One or two battles in a cutter (ususlly 20 v 20) got you into the next vessel. We had a lot of fun in 6th rates too. But not enough players found it enjoyable, only a dozen or so players got to frigates. I think nal would have been great with more battle options (as i prefer 1v1 - 3v3 battles over 20v20 where you barely got any impact) and some more promoting. (Oh and you can use the euro trader to get lignum without having a building)

Now that NAL is cancelled .. What about a permanent leaderboard? See what captain sailed what ship how often, time spent in it, what kills he got in it, how often he was sunk... and most importantly show in what odds he got the kills so we can all see the great gankers- 61 replies

In real life you dont have two dimensions, battle instance and a 15x compressed OW. If a battle was open forever you could call in reinforcmemts from across the map, when realistically they would have never been in the range of the battle to join. 3 min simulates that only those in range can join, as it should be

was sailing in OW, game lagged out, got kicked out to server selection screen - No ping was shown for the servers, restarting the game didnt fix the issue, restarting steam did. Issue was not internet conneciton related. Then it happened again. Wat is this?

Yesterday I got about 10 decent fights in the event zone. They COULD be awesome for any group (solos / small or big groups) if they had a proper RoE. A 10 man fleet spawning in a 2v2 20 min into the battle is just nonsense. Generally I found that the pvp opportunities are much more numerous in the events than camping capitals hoping to get tagged (with a forever open battle.. *choke* Id say 90+ % of my last week or two battles were located in / near the pvp zones. Isnt that what pve lords always wanted? Players wanting to pvp can pvp each other. Good. Now it just needs a decent RoE to make it perfect.

Yeah be nice to have some more hotkeys options, eg. Aim guns on a side to left / right

Tbh by now im fine with the idea of safe zones, but they should be scaled on rank, and battles in them should defo not be open the whole 90 min without any restrictions - shouldnt be open that long anywhere
