Captin, we're safe! .. Are we?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Thanks for your comments. I been trying to get more of the casual and new players in US on to post and let folks know their view of the game. The sad thing is we see this view from the ganker/pvp guys in global chat, "US WILL SUBMIT AND LEARN TO PVP AND GET OUT OF THE SAFE ZONES OR WE WILL DESTROY THEM ALL." All they while avoiding fighting other PvPers and complaining abut lack of RvR/PvP while they help each other gank new players and casual players. As you stated the players will not get better and come out, they will get tired of it and stop playing. -

Just like DD I think it could be activated only when you have Board prep up and running. -

As stated above unless your right up on that stern under 50m (I think it would be better than 100m) than it wouldn't effect some one doing the stern racking. What this option has been talked about is for side scraping/hugging of ships you should have small arms fire damage to crew. It doesn't have to be insane OP, just make it risky for a small ship to do it to a big ships. While to big ships would loose about the same crew from each other if they are side scraping each other. -

Most of the folks other than a few folks some reason against this (cause they want to abuse it in shallow PB'S) have stated since it's a DLC ship it should be a 5th rate and leave the rest of the stats alone so it can be the OW Board King and hunter. I don't think most of us have a problem with that, we just have a problem with them in shallow water PB's (I don't have a problem in deep with new BR now). Again your speaking of skills of players not the ships. You can not balance a game off the skill of players it has to be the stats of the ships. Any ship can be OP in a certain players hands if that player is very good, but if that ship is OP from the start cause of bad game mechanic design it makes it even more powerful (I hate the word OP) compared to some casual in the same ship with the same stats. As I said before I love the ship and I think it's a great ships for OW solo hunting, but it does not need to be in Shallow water port battles until there is another ship that can match it's crew count. I honestly think all DLC ships should be in a special class where they can't be used in PB's even deep waters and only for OW. A DLC ships should be base stats of similar ships of it's class with maybe buff HP's or something (WoT always had more HP, but lower tier guns at one time). It would also effect board mods and others as they are a lot stronger in the 6/7th rates compared to 5/4th rates. Right now you take a 5th rate with same crew and same mod than the 6th rate will bet it no base stats alone. -

We have what 11 nations now? We have nations listed as easy, hard, hard core (impossible). The safe zones should only be for the core easy mode nations. This would be Spain, US, Brits, French. Nations that have two zones basically. For each one I would do something like this. Spain, Brits and French the capital island/zones is there Safe PvE zones for casual and new players to play in safe. They can simply have the capital zone ROE we have now in that area. The other areas would have the normal Reinforcement zones we have. They are kinda safe but not really. Now US isn't really split like the others so what I would suggest is any thing from Charleston and north would be the capital safe zone and every thing from Beufort to Brunswick would be the Reinforcement zones. The other nations would have just the zones they have now or none for the Impossible Nations (which honestly they need to drop those three and just give that to pirates). Does any one have a map of the current zones right now? Yah I never get this, they complain about lack of PvP and quality of PvP and they all leave there nation to join the PvP heavy nations. Than they buddy up and become friends and never fight each other just newbs and casuals. If they truely want PvP they would be fighting the other hard core PvPers in other nations that have strong base of PvPers and RvR's. When was the last time any one seen French and Prussia fight each other? When folks do come over to a nation to try to help they give it a few weeks, give up and leave, half the time to a nation that is all ready over saturated with PvPers. -

And see this is where you are wrong...We do not have a PVP ONLY SERVER, never had, I think the closes we had was the NA:L but even they coudln't fill that with just PvPer's so they had to throw AI in it and it failed. We have two servers and only two at this time. PvE Only server where there is no PvP and we have the Caribbean server which is a PvE/PvE server. Show me exactly where this PvP only server is again? Why should casual players be forced into PvP they don't want to play at the moment? If you want numbers to stay in this game you have to give them places to do there missions and feel safe if they don't want to be ganked ever two secounds. I asked a while back give me a name of a pure PvP game that is like this and ya'll couldn't. Yah you listed off a bunch of arena games that you just go back to start and jump in to a new vehical/char and jump back into the fight, but not one sandbox. Anything close to this (like Eve and other games) has safe zones and none safe zones. Low risk low rewards, high risk high rewards. Keep the good mods out of the safe area and keep it to basic mods. If folks want the good mods thy have to do missions out side of the safe zones or do PvP (they should be bought in shop for folks that don't want to grind PvE). You will never get folks to play a game by forcing them to play how the minority wants them to play. Yall want to know why so many of the US players are so bad at this game? It's cause they are casual players that only pop on for a few hours to do some econ, do some missions and maybe a little PvP on there terms when they want. That is what they like to do for the game. You might be a hard core small ship PvPer, but other guys love trade, love crafting. Hell I know folks that even love killing AI as dumb as most of ya'll think they are, for some casuals they are hard core for them and they struggle. I took folks out doing missions and watch guys pretty much almost get sunk by AI....so you know they would get slaughter and still do by a good player. They don't play ever day and with the same folks over and over so they aren't as skilled as most of the ganker/PvPers that are active in this game. -

That was painful to watch as he should of destroyed him with just two actions. 9 times out of 10 boards I been in I had zero board mods and I won the board against even folks with board mods cause of one simple thing....>PREPERATION< and knowledge of boarding. We are talking straight up stats not experience. You put two guys with exact same skills against each other that 300 crew ships will beat that 200 crew in most boards simply cause it has more crew than the other ship. Also like to point out I had DD in that battle today and I couldn't pull the Requin but it meant nothing in stopping him from pulling me cause he had way over 100 crew than me. It's instant board anything other than the same ship. And don't get me wrong I love the Requin, but until there is another ship that is not a DLC ship that has that much crew than it should not be in PB's in the shallows. Give us a craftable ship that can have that much crew that can match it than allow it into shallow port battles. OW I don't care anything goes let it be the OW shallow board kinds, but not in PB's. -

This is why we keep saying make it a 5th rate, the problem is both. With 250 crew against a Niagara with 150 crew and same mods it will still wreck the Niagara cause of the 100 extra crew. This morning in the PB we had with the Prussians I got boarded by a Requin while having Barricades, Axe's and 5 rings. While any other ships I would of done fine. He just had to much crew vs mine with 300+ (believe he was in the 200's from my grape) vs my 178. The only thing that saved me was the axe's and being able to disenagage from the fight but even than I was down to 90 something crew. Even with all the same mods the the Niagara can only get 232 vs 385 crew. A 250 crew Requin will still destroy that crew built Niagara cause it doesn't have to use slots on crew just put them in board mods. Even nif you put a cap and I would put the crew cap at 30% with every thing else that is caped at that it still is OP just cause it's crew number in battles vs any other shallow water ships. It does not need to be in PB's with that many more crew than any other ship in game that can't match it board wise. Oh and I tried grape in the battle and shot at more than one location to test it and really wasn't seeing any big crew kills from sweeping the decks. It needs to be effective more by grape at point blank range specially if it's get 300+ crew stuffed in it. By the way not saying the PB was lost cause of the requiun, we honestly got out brawled and it was a good fight. Experience won over lack of it in that PB more than anything. -

Some games will restrict safe zones to lower level players so that higher up level players can't come and seal club them. Well players will make alts and bring in low level chars that they gear up to the max at that level before having to leave the zone and club new players with hardly any gear. So on games like that in the past I made alts/chars of low level and geared up but to do the counter....kill the newbie seal clubers that think I'm a newbie too and get a surprised when they find out it's actually a geared up skilled player playing a lower level char. Hell I did that on here ran around with a low level char in the shallows just to get jump by max rear admirals thinking I'm some noob to find out I very much wasn't. People that Seal Club and Newbie gank will do it no matter what if there is a chance. The best way to prevent this is to make proper total safe zones for folks to level up and play casually if they want. You can't force players to do what they don't want. A while back in one of the videos for SC Chris was asked why they are making the game mainly PvE (80% of the world will be PvE with most encounters being that). His statement goes something like this. "You have winners and looser, and with an all PvP game you will always have looser. We play games to have fun and if your loosing all the time it isn't fun and those players will stop playing. So you need to have a balance and the best way to do this is to have the majority of the game PvE with some PvP element." I remember a game where the map was almost all PvE and only had PvP in certain zones the players made. POTBS worked great until well in my view they went F2P and you always new where the PvP was and if you didn't want to get involved you went to other parts of the map. This game needs something like this to let folks know the PvP Hotzones. Ports are flipped to fast in my view, but it's the only way to do it with the current system or you would never get a port flipped. In my view that zone should be a hot spot until the port battle and cool down. Give extra rewards to these red zones and I bet you will see more ports flips and fights in them and not just int he PvP Zones. People are going to gank no matter what if you let them. There is no such thing as a fair fight, but you need to let folks grow and play at there own pace. Yah they might never get good to a PvPer level, but they should still be able to play the game and enjoy it too. -
This is why you have loot tables. Missions give nothing but basic loot. OW ships give you nothing but common loot. Epics and Out of safe zone missions gives you better than common and rare loot. The best stuff should be bought in shop with PvP rewards (sorry best loot should not be locked behind PvP ship grinds) or Epic style missions. I hate missions, but I would prefer to grind random AI ships over them. I don't even loot the ships half the time cause even in OW I tend to get basic mods on SOL's I kill in OW. I don't remember when I got a decent drop of soemthing I didn't already have in an open world ship (RNG HATES ME).

I’ll tell you right now I have keep lower level players it’s maxed out gear to beat the tar out of higher level chars that bring in low level alts to farms these chars on other games. It would be abuse just like a pve/PvP ok flag. -
I think the easier way to do this is make capital zones bigger for the easy nations: France, Spain, US and British. Keep the other safe sxone rules for the ready of the area. I’ll use US as an example make all the ports north of CT prot ct d zones under capital rules. Fights can still happen but US players have to start it. Ke p the mission rewards her to basic mod drops and repairs. Ships in OW should remain as folks don’t always want missions cause they pay out crap as they should.

I still need to watch that video to see what was up. Heard defenders where at 500 points before they even made it to a circle. Not sure who called it as That on week days is the middle of my sleeping hours.

cargo space on fleet ships

Look at the quote. In this case he means, “fixed that for you.” And edited what he said in the quote. -
Would also love something that forces folks to actually fight in Battle Sails instead of full sails 100% of the battle. That is why I suggested that you can't do repairs unless your in battle sails or slower. Also would be nice to see some ships actually take damage in full sails under certain sail/wind conditions. While they where pain in the butt's would be nice to have a few rare storms once in a while. Use the storm to escape instead of fighting unless your crazy and going to risk the waves to fight.

Le Requin Testing and Feedback
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
This is by many keep saying to only change the BR and make it a 5th rate. It’s stats aren’t bad it’s just nothing in shallows can compare. Niagara is the next in line and it has 100 less crew. Totally creeped out a base Requin will still eat it alive in board actions as it can add board mods instead of crew.
