  1. I think it's more they forget what they had loaded early. Kinda like how some folks get tunnel vision and will shoot the ship next to them not knowing it's a green player. I get chaining some one down to make them loose sails so they don't run or even more waist that repair, but some times doing it first in a battle means you are half sunk by time you get close and swtich to ball shot. Specially if the other guys are doing focus fire and leak count on you. I think what your talking about is kind in the game. You switch laods in mid it's faster than starting from scratch with empty guns still and I think this is what it takes into account.
  2. With the time table of 10-15 days putting the patch hopefully coming the 15-20 is there any ETA of when it might come? I know ya'll will give us an update, but is this window looking more and more real? I know a lot of us players are taking breaks and waiting on the patch. I'm truely hopeing it's more the 15th of the month (three days from now) cause a lot of us are ready for these new changes and to test them out.

  3. Even with the shameless plug I would say the best thing for any player new or what ever is take a few hours and go have a nice little youtube search for things. Try to find some newer videos as some of the game has changed since EA release. I learned so much over the last few months from others video's....except the stupid depower button I some how didn't know until one day in battle i had to ask. "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS DEPOWER YA'LL KEEP TALKING ABOUT." Yah this was just a few months ago and how did I miss that key in the control option sections I thought I looked over well....lol yah we where all new once and still learning. With that mention I would say it might be a good thing if the guys that make some of those great video's go back and maybe check to see if they need to be updated for the new guys. HOLD your horses man I wouldn't go to the point saying it's better than BACON. lol
  4. Yah I think all mods should pretty much be perm to a ship this way. They go with the ship when it gets captured too and if you want to change and refit the ship you have to destroy the ones on them and refit with the new mod. This would work with 1 dura ships or even 5 dura ships. I still don't think 1 dura for all ships is good cause I remember those days when I was a very bad new player and sunk all the time. Luckly most of them was in that free basic cutter, but I did loose a few ships early on to just AI. Lucky the traders I lost where all capture traders so no skin off my back until I thought of the cargo that I scratched up from all over the place to build my first big ship or have some one do it. Than get set back weeks cause I did something that got me caught and captured. The dura thing I think could be helped that when you get sunk with one of those ships it sends it back to the capital so you aren't right there with your ship to get back into the battle. It's like you bought 5 ships not just one and your going back to recrew one of those other ships at your capital where it should show up after you sink. HOLY CRAP THAT IS TWICE TODAY....did hell freeze over cause I was just saying this in another post...lol

  5. Well he did kinda answer it honestly and that would mean you just blow past there escort and go after the AI. The same thing we do when guys bring AI fleets with them. We blow past them with some chian shots to slow down the AI and just keep going after them. AI don't repair so they end up getting left behind or the last guys in line take them down and than join up with the rest of the group. Though I would honestly prefer this option myself to escort my trade ships.
  6. Yep going to be clubbing a lot of baby seal clubbers that can't fight some one there own level so they have to go get noobies. I mean we are talking about the same guys that shoot water and sail shot into your boad side and than wonder why they sink before they get our sails down to 60 (before repairs). Uh cause I been putting holes into that lovely water line. It will work the same with the ROE's for that zone if not better. Would be a nice change on some nights than the big ships and such.
  7. Yah I think it's funny that if you go look at all the Nations Capitals the two largest nations has all there products marked up insanely high, but if you go look at all the little guys they have decent mark ups. You think the largest would have all the resources at hand to make things cheaper. Which they do and makes there mark up on PvP2 even more insane. All they are doing is hurting there own players and new folks by having things so expensive. It's not like we can't get the money other ways by either grinding missions, PvP/PB's (where I get most of my money) and things like Comp Wood/Tobacco/Sugar.
  8. When the new patch comes out Subdry will get the Free Port switched to Saint Mary as it's on the edge of the region.
  9. Oh don't give me that labor hour cost BS. I do all my production myself and the cost is very much close to what it says there cause I DON'T PAY INFLATED PRICES. It's only the lazy crafters that do and jack up there prices. I even had some one buy a ship I put at 50% mark up and than posted it for 400% market up. LABOR IS NOT WORTH OVER 100% MARK UP. I seen folks sale notes for the cost of the ships it takes to build with them and that is just stupid. Labor hours is a time sink and should not be the majority of the cost of a product. As for the Heavy Rattler I can understand it and other rare ships getting really high mark up, but hay that is what happens when you only let a few folks get certain OP BP and no one else can get them. We are all ready seeing an issue with some of those crafters not logging in and supplying those ships. While other nations are pumping them out like crazy for there guys.

  10. I can read it better than exceptional, The color is fine unless maybe you guys might be color blind? To be exact the wording of the type of mod is harder to see on exceptional if any thing.
  11. Mods do need to be reworked big time and prob become more perm for a ship if they went to a 1 dura system for all ships. As for folks that run in battles. Seen it way to many times where one ship gets sunk and suddenly every one runs and tries to escape. Even though they had prob twice the number of ships in the port battles and towers on their side. Not going to admit it, but there is a reason we target certain folks in battles (like leaders). And have you seen the prices in Nationals capitals for there ships? They make them marked up way to high for the cost if you built every thing yourself and than folks can't afford ships to replace the ones they lost. Just go to Naval Action Crafting and compare the build cost (at flat rate) to what folks try to sale the ships in Capitals. I have suggested it before a surrender system that allows a trader to give the option to surrender and live. I can turn him down but he can give me the option of say all his cargo, 1/2 or 1/4. That way I can only take what I want and let him and his crew live. This is why I also think that capture ships should be run by a prize crew and can't be just telported back to your outpost. You have to actually sail them back to an out post to claim them and keep them. This will give crews chance to capture back ships too. Say the BRITS loose a trader to Doom and than he's taking his prize back cause he didn't take the offer of the cargo and did a complete capture. Well Brit navy guys see him towing a Trader (will need the fleet cargo system to work) and they notice it's a brit Trader he has in tow/in his fleet. He has less crew cause some are on the prize ship. Well he can cut his lost and run or he can send the prize crew to run while he fights the Navy guys. He might get away or even gets more prize from the Navy ship he captures too. Or both ships get back into the hands of the Navy or sunk. Would make more options in OW PvP for sure. One of the better options I seen so far and couold be a good start doing it in baby steps than just change every thing to 1 dura. I think the smaller ships need a few cause it's so easy to make mistakes and get sunk in the smaller ships when your first starting out. To add with it let ships like Pirate Frigate be refits. You have a capture Frigate and you turn it into your local ship crafter and he can convert it over to a 1 dura pirate frigate of the same level of ship as the capture ship was. So if it was an Exceptional Live Oak Planking Stiffness it will be the same but a Pirate Frigate with structure, guns and crew adjusted. Maybe add a few more ships like this that are cross variation of trader or smaller frigates that the pirates would refit and bang you have our replacement for SOL's. Than any SOL's we want we just have to capture. Yah I know a lot of pirates want to be able to craft them and be in only them, but hay that isn't how pirates worked. Rare SPECIAL ships can still be 1 dura rewards for players that get them. This keeps them from being OP and makes them more rare and special. Though other scan get them if they are capped from you. So you want to keep them from getting captured, but others still have that chance to get them from you this way.
  12. I think you sum it up pretty well except many of the guys that fight all the time don't sink that often so we don't go through ships like crazy. So for some it's going to hurt them and for others it won't bother them at all. The problem is when they average or casual player use nothing but grey ships cause they are scared to lose there good ships. It's seen a lot in Port Battles. Regional where folks that have the numbers don't bring big rates and than end up out gun even though they had the numbers or they bring a bunch of grey unmodded ships and wonder why the smaller more skilled group that is out number beats them. I'm all for the one dura ships for testing as long as they make changes to mods so that you can make them and not go broke. It's a good thing I been saving a lot of those blue/green mods I gotten that I don't put on ships. They will be going on these new ships for testing. Personally I think all mods should be perm as it's basicly like that one ship is custom made a certain way and can't just be switched from a Combat fit to a Board fit with a few mods switched around. If your going to make a troop carrying board ship it should be that and nothing else. But hay lets wait for the changes and see just what comes from them.
  13. Actually giving your own experience on things like basic ships is part of the discussion. Folks are all ready complaining about the one dura and the fact they might be basics. Hell that fight your talkign about the Connie I captured was a basic ship so not every one is running around in Exceptional ships with maxed out gold mods. Oh and one thing I can say about that fight is "BOOOM" Still no clue how I lived through that blast being that close to him. It was nice seeing you out in a fight too. Next time I'll try to go after you instead of the 1st rate. You know hugs and all. It's called an open discussion for a reason.
  14. Same nations? Just asking cause with no green on green you can't attack your own nation contraband traders now.
  15. Yep I have every thing moved and ready for the patch if it comes this week. Reminds me I need to get every thing out of Pitt's on one server as I believe it will no longer be the only Neutral town left but turn into a Brit Capital for that region.
  16. If your in a port that isn't changing than you are safe. The ones moving locations will swap your stuff, but not your buildings. They will be destroyed and credits given for there cost to build. If the port is not a free town or moving but it's currently your nation and will change to a new nation of that region you will have to move them before hand or use a trader to get your ships out. So make sure any none freeports you have stuff in is going to belong to your nation after the patch or move your items.
  17. I thought a nice PC way to do Whalers and Slaver ships is just to make them NPC's and you get contracts or rewards for taking them out. As for the type of ships they can bring some exploration ships in and that could be one way to get them (one dura ships) or if you do a reward point system you can get enough points after sinking so many to get the BP for that type of ship. That way they won't piss off any of the PC folks as your stopping such actions not encouraging them.
  18. This could be a cool way to introduce new ships like they are planing the two current new ones and well even have folks get there hands on the rare BP ships that can't be broken down. Making special ships that are 1 dura so they are even more rare. That reminds me I need get a new Aggmommon built soon for a special build project. I would like to see something with a large cargo hold and a bit more guns. Some more like and exploration ship that would also do good on raids. Yah we have two ships that carry guns, but I'm thinking like half the cargo and a bit more gun. Not the same space as the smaller cargo of the war/Navel ships.
  19. Even if they go to a 1 dura system I think they should be all craftable or obtainable and than perm once you put on a ship. When you capture a ship you get those mods with the ship and if you want to change them (REFIT THE SHIP) than you have to destroy them and put your new mods on the refitted ship. Hell even multi dura ships I think should be perm mods that stay with the ship.
  20. ad ho·mi·nem ˌad ˈhämənəm/ adverb & adjective 1. (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. "vicious ad hominem attacks" Calling the kettle black your post has nothing to do with the topic of this discussion and is actually a personnel attack. Maybe you should go see the furom rules before you post. I take it we have sunk you or didn't allow you to play with us or something? This is an open disccussion about the new mechanics and well that is what we are doing. It's not what you are doing. 10 post in what two months of being on here? Seems you would use those more like your other 9 post and be more productive and help the game or give your views to make it a better one like you have in your other post.
  21. I like this, really wish folks would stop teaming against pirates and fight each other. With the new mechanics we are really looking forward to fight for one nation or the other when being contested in regions or just killing them all. I don't think the nationals understand just how much us Pirates can be a thorn in a side. When all the nations aren't fighting each other it kinda gets a bit boring if your not in the middle of all the fighting.
  22. While BLACK is know for being elitist arse, but I'll help out any baby pirate in Nation chat or if they want to run with us in battle. We need to help them grow up to be good big rats too. Hell I have given free ships to folks that showed up and fought even if they where way out classed (low level). It's the best way to learn in my book. It's also one of the fastest ways to make rank and gold is by PvP and Port Battles.
  23. I would love to see more french and I been seeing more of them in global. I think I have only sunk one in all my months in this game. Ya'll should really take back the US south coast area when the new patch comes out and hold it strong. I will add as a pirate I will be very happy to help screen that area for yall if any one tries to agro it.. I would do that down south, but that is just way to far away in your little french corner of the world lol
  24. I remember back in my early days before I was part of any clans and still playing on EU (I switched to US PvP2 when they split the EU server). I was called a spy/traitor basically cause I had asked about how to understand and get involved in port battles and had no clue how to read the conquest/map stuff about Port Battles and flags. The old time US players where very toxic towards new players. So I moved to PvP2 expecting a better expiernce. Well I got little to know help for the most part and it wasn't until I grounded out another level or two that some one help make me a surprise (thanks Speedfreek for doing so for only the mats needed). I was getting the same feeling of how old timers just didn't care about new players as I was once again trying to get involved into the port battle and PvP stuff. At this time I had been a casual player only poping in after patches to check things out for a few days or week before waiting until the next patch. An old clan mate from another game got me to join UNKN and had a good time cause that small clan was very helpful with new players. We would take folks out and show them the ropes, it's why we grew so fast there at the end of our US time. Once again we started to get a very toxic feeling from older US players involving port battles and them not wanting to help or bring lower level/basic ships with no mods or running in every fight after one or two sunk. That is why we switched to pirates to work with a very organized groups. It's why Pirates do so much damage with so small of a nation and yes we are smaller than US or Brits, but we are better organized and help newer players out. I have even gone out of my way and helped new players in other nations. I try to keep friendly to them in global and give out info to help them cause we where once Newbies.....ALL OF US WAS AT ONE TIME. Hell I felt so bad in a battle where I had been tag by some low level brits that got the balls up to come out and play with us in front of KPR. I got one stuck in irons and he just couldn't get out of it so we stop firing at him and talked him through how to get out of irons and manual sale. He said thanks and learned more from that one fight with us than he had learned from any brit. That should not be the case that the folks your fighting are teaching you more than the nation you belong to. Yah we learn from fights, but the basics should of been taught by there Nation members or even clan members. With the NEWBIE area and ROE with the new patch I actually plan to be in that area from time to time to help them out. Hell I'll prob be looking for baby seal clubbers to kill no matter what nation they are in. Lets take the time with this new patch to do so and help these new players.
  25. I think this is one of the issues why BLACK wins so many fights. We aren't afraid to lose ships. I think some of the nationals would flip if they know exactly how many crafted/capped 1st rate our clan has in stock. Lets just say this we have a few members with over 20 1st rates in stock. Hell I'm sitting on 3 myself with one being given to me, one being crafted (my santi) and one I stole off the DUTCH in OW. As for our frigates it's not hard for one of us to just pump out the replacement for every thing except the none craft-able rare mods. Does it really matter? I have a new boarding Bucc ready for the OW and ship hunting. I got tons of blue mods from PB's and such I 'm not using that will go towards these 1 dura ships. I have used the Pirate frigates in the past and they are basic ships, so it's not like I'm not use to them. I just hope we get more than just basic ones from the capture ships to really test different quality ones. I think a lot of us have this mind set and it's why we can go in out number and come out still alive. If your afraid to fight and loose something you are going to be more careful and won't take the chances that might turn a fight in your favor quickly. That and we don't use the retard AI like half these guys and depend on our 100% attention to the fight and not what our AI is doing like: Shooting the wrong guys (they will shoot through one ship to hit another), ramming into folks cause they sail like drunken sailors (hay how you get my crew on there?), they don't do anything at all cause they are still having there none tea (Always a few NPC fleet ships in missions that do this until after the fight starts). Every one keep hitting your pray button and lets hope we get this patch this week.
