Searching hours for PVP
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Uh DUDE IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY......lol With that I got on for a little bit with my pirate this morning ran with some other guys and we got a few fights. Though I admit it was runs in the shallows. If you want t afight go to the Mort La Tort area. Just watch combat news and it will tell you where things are going. -
I don't get why they are tripping off ships you gave us for free or to test things. Ships they would have on both servers if they had an active char on them. While I didn't play I made sure to log into both PvP EU and PvE after the wipe to make sure I had chars on all servers. Though I do think one round of forge papers might be good for a few folks that still want to change nations. I mean if I could give them one of of my many papers I would.

I fat finger keys all the time. My bloody hands have dealt with many years of swinging hammers and running heavy impacts both offshore and on land jobs. Not every one has graceful fingers after all. There is a reason I also moved my brace key to the "I" key, every hit the H when you mean to hit the G to board some one and than now have to wait for the cool down to do so in combat. Yah you learn that real fast in a PvP fight. LOL if that the same Van Poon as from Global yah he doesn't like getting sunk even when he suck. A lot of those guys blame there lack of skills and knowledge of the game on HACKS. I mean how else could they been beaten and it for sure couldn't be skill and knowledge of the game. I'm sure you will hear a lot worse from that bunch of Dutch players. I notice a lot of folks do bad things in battle when they get pissed off and things are going to their way. In fact if i get sunk early or have a long way to sail to catch up to a fight I"ll talk smack to get them work up cause I know certain folks when all worked up will start to make a lot of mistakes in battle or spend more time typing than actually fighting. It honestly starts to get very predictable. -
Cool finally special cannons to test. I assume this will be a nice test for us before they bring in some French, Swedish and other nation special cannons. @admin The paint is it going to be on the old system? Cause you said that the new paints will be like ship knowledge and we would have to do a ship wipe to bring them in. IF old paint system is still able to be used than why not add paint chest to epic rewards and put them in the shop for a cost? And since my birthday is over (it was yesterday) I can stop being a scrooge. Happy Holidays for all and happy new year a bit early.

Not sure what you call a win, but according to that you lost all 7 rounds. You can't sit and brace against a full crew AI that has Barricades and Marines. The only round you came close was the one you defended. While there could of been a lag spike or something but those first three rounds aren't wins. Also keep your distance and always have more crew than AI and you won't get pulled. Did you F11 it, they are pretty good about repalceing things when something glitches in the game, but remember keep your distance and always have more crew than AI.

Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I'm wondering what the other ports are cause this was the list of the old ones. That isn't 13 and I think its actually 9 cause Nouvelle Orlenas and Vera Cruz can't be captured. @admin can we maybe get an updated list of which ports you are talking about? All regions give 1 conquest marks. Some give more. Capitals of the regions your governments demand to bring under control of your nations and will provide additional benefits for them: Santo Domingo Cartagena de Indias San Juan Port Au Prince San Iago Morgan bluff Vera Cruz Campeche Nouvelle Orleans Bridge town Road Town -

Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I see it more that the PvE grinders can share some of there mods and loot drops. Many PvPers don't want to grind to get mods, so it's a win win situation now the PvPers have something of value other than gold to trade for items. Yah but that number can be tweeked if they want to very easy. It hopefully starts with a clean slate so that you have to from this point forward be in a port battle. IF they get them just for past fights and against AI than it's kinda not fair. I honestly think they should of did a port wipe when they merged the servers to make it fair for all. -

Are your PvP marks in your captain chest or in your warehouse? You need to take them out of your captain chest for it to work. Other wise you might need to f11 that. I don't have enough PvP marks on me right now to test it. -
An Alternative to Ship Knowledge
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
That actually what I thought the crafting patch was going to be like going off last Novembers (2017) post about the up comming ship changes that most of the mods would of been replaced by slide bar or options when you craft the ship. -
Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Depends on the set up and captain though to be honest. I can see a good set up on a Mercury actually beating a H Rattler. I think it's more the fact the open deck on the Mercury means that you can kill the crew off very easily. Not sure how ya'll do it on EU but we actually ran our H Rattlers with 18 lbrs for brawling in port battles. Than stack reload and accuracy mods on top of that and your very deadly within 250m. You will out shut and damage any 6 lbr. I can pretty much keep some one in shock and sink them in 3 broad sides with only 29 sec reload on my guns. We tend to bring Navy Brigs with longs to take care of the distance fights and they make great rams for breaking bow sprites of H Rattlers in battle. As above I think it's just the open top and lower HP's (125 really isn't a lot) that makes it where folks don't use the Mercury as much any more. Ability to acquire wasa on a pve server will be added next week together with the removal of permits for majority of vessels on both servers. permits will remain for first rates and second rates Did you read the patch notes, you can still get VM's for trade for PvP Marks, Basiclly VM's are going to be reserved for the folks that actually go out and PvP/RvR not just sit in safe zones and kill AI. So small clans and solo players can still get the same things by just OW PvPing. Remember that this patch just dropped and while we seen a slight increase it's been weekdays for us US players. You will prob see a EU Prime time rise on weekends too cause that is mid day for us and many of us can get on and play since we aren't working on Sat/Sun. I have noticed the SEA players time been way higher too. I think all around it's been nice seeing more numbers. Folks also forget even though they only see 50-100 players more on the list that is actually more like 500-1000 more players if you count folks that log in and out all day long. Most folks only pop on for a few hours at most so that a good bump up of players. -
Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior

Make the 3rd rate the CM ship instead of the Wasa and we would prob see it more out there. Though I agree the Wasa Br needs to place it around the 3rd rates and I think that would actulaly balance it out a lot more. That and some other ships like Indifatable shouldn't be the same BR as a 4th rates, even though it has those killer gun decks, but why would I bring a 5th rate over any 4th rate that takes up the same BR unless that is all the player can crew? Cause every game i been on there was Solo content and than group/RvR content and you couldn't get the RvR/Group content by being only a solo player. Sorry every thing shouldn't be there for every player. If you want PvP content and your only a PvEer than you need to pay a PvP player for that content. Same goes for RvR and solo players. If you don't want to do RvR and you want RvR content than make a trade with a player that only does RvR. See what your not seeing is in fact every thing is still there for you to use and play, just means it's not given to you, you have to actually go out and get it or pay some one else for what they have done. It's like that in every other MMO out there. IF you want elite gear you have to play the elite content or go and pay some one big money to buy the gear off them. I personnelly hate 1st rates and only use them for grinding out big fleets or Port Battles, so I can live without ever having them if I wasn't doing RvR. It's not the end of the world and it's not the only content in the game. Many players love the shallow water ships and never plan to get out of anything bigger than a 5th rate cause that is what they like. Some folks only sail trade ships and only do trade/craft. There is aspects to the game for all types. Just cause you can't get one content easy with a push of the button doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Now you just got to work harder or get some one else to trade you for that content. -
Storms belong to the caribbean!
Sir Texas Sir replied to Navalus Magnus's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
While I think it would be fun to have them once in a while, but I have to agree it was a nightmare to battle in. Though might be interesting to bring them back on a low level with new capsizing mechanics that might come into play in the future. Folks forget that a storm is not the place to do battle in, if anything you would use it to run from a fight more than anything.- 46 replies

I would turn off Vsync, but with two 970's he should be getting better than my one 980 and I run three monitors and still get around 50-70 FPS with every thing else on max settings. Also check to see if your computer has an on board graphics card and make sure it's not trying to run the game with that graphics card instead. I had a few games do that as I run off a gaming laptop and it has a 980M but I run an external 980 for games when I'm home on the big 4K screen, some times it try's to run the on board graphics card for the mother board instead of either of the 980's and I have to go in and manual switch it to the better cards for the games.

Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Same with how pirates was on Global. "Oh new mechanics lets find out how these work and lets get this done." All the while folks that don't learn them and get curb stomp spend all there energy complaining over the mechanics they haven't even gone out and learned. To many folks want every thing just given to them. If you want the top tier stuff you need to work hard and do the top tier content to get it. -
Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Well they did say they will have to do a wipe to bring in paints and I been bugging them to bring back piants...lol As for ships yah I prefer the Frigates and below myself. That is prob why I like fighting in the Victory over the other 1st rates. Hell since wipe I haven't even been in a Santi at all. I only put the l'ocean on my alt so he had something other than the Victory to take. Those silly Americans keep getting stuck in the wind and I keep boreding them so I got free 1st rates out of it. Though I think this is a good move will get folks to bring more other ships to PB's than to stack the biggest ones. Also if they start to loose 1st rates out side to a swarm of frigates and such you will stop seeing so many of them showing up too. I still don't like how a small clan can be screened out of a port battle by a much bigger screening fleet, but than that just means you have to pick your targets more wisely. -

What is a pirate? Just a privateer without a job. So yah a way to gain good reputation with a Nation would be to work as a Privateer for that nation and destroy there enemy's so every ship you sink that they are at war with would gain you better reputation. Though if you sink ships of that nation it will gain you worse reputation too. Don't piss off a big nation/clan is one way to prevent this. Remember many of these ports have BR rating low enough that you can have 25 players defend a few ports at the same time. So as long as you can get that many players up your good. Remember defenders don't have to screen, just need to be at the port ready to fight. As for Night flips and such like that if all your ports are set for your clan's (not nation as this is now clan based) prime time of play than you should be able to defend it during your prime time of play and not have to worry about off hour flips. Also Hostility only counts if done during the defense timer so you can't flip a port off hours you have to actually be on during that time to flip it. If you piss off a nation/clan or nations/clans where they flip three of your ports at once than your not going to win if you can't defend them all, so pick the ones that are more important to you and than defend those. Not every one is going to be top dog. One way for small Nations/clans to defend against such is to get alliances with other nations/clans to help each other. You see some one flipping three ports maybe they can go screen out the flippers at one of the ports so you only have 2 port Battles instead of 3 or they can screen out the attackers during the port battles so you don't have to defend as much in all three ports if you can't get the numbers to do so. It's called team work and organization. Get out and make some friends. 20 small clans can beat one big clan if they just work together. -

With the PvP conversion I'm liking this more, but folks will have to remember they actually have to get into the PB's and fight if they want the marks. This makes it even more clan based system. Also all this finally is giving the PvP guys something they can use to trade with the PvE guys. You want a 1st rate and don't do RvR than trade me this VM for that copper plating or book of one of the rings or something. It finally gives us something to barter with. Though I think l'Hermione is such a nice all arounded ship it should prob stay for CM cause it's not better than other ships in it's class it's just like a jack of all traders. Than toss in the 3rd rate as the top tier CM ship and we will see more of them used since it's so rarely use cause of so many other better ships. @admin Question about old permits for ships that might not have them after the next patches when they are removed. Can you have an exchange system so folks can exchange old permits for VM's or CM's that they spent to buy them. I have a lot of permits i have bought and stored up of all the ships and it would suck to loose all those CM's or VM's for what I spent on them. -
Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I have a bunch of captured L'oceans that I took off the US in port battles and since I mainly use the Vicory I plan to wait a bit and than redeem them and I bet you when folks are hurting for 1st rates I'll make a killing off them or just supply them to the clan/nation. I mean in total I have prob about a dozen 1st rates between my two main char cause of that, so yah folks aren't hurting if they where smart. I never understood how in the past some folks would say, "We are all out of them." No your not cause we see you grinding AI all the time in them, you just refuse to bring them out of the safe zones. -
I kinda like having special content stuck behind the RvR and PvP play of the game, but with that the other guys need content too. Maybe they don't get the 1st rates we can get through RvR, but like POTBS had a trade ship that was a SOL that could still be brought into port battles. (a PvE means to get a SOL). Thinks like this would improve the play. Other wise if you want a 1st rate you need to do the game play to earn it and that is RvR. It doesn't mean you have to do only 1st rate port battles. If you can gain the points through any port battles. While I'm against giving freebies to folks that don't fight, but I think every one that is involved in a port battle (one battle) gets a VM at the end of the cycle. 1st place gets 3 victory marks, 2nd two and third one. Pay out every three weeks so folks are still getting marks if they fight back but don't win the top three spots.

Maybe he means the money he makes from attacking noobs and trade ships in these zones. He was the first person to get (well second that I know of) to learn about the reinforcement zones around Mort. He tagged a trader and than ran. We pretty much didn't see anything from him until the merge was announced. He was one of a few players that I know that only hunt around the capitals for easy prey that stopped playing when they couldn't any more. DO like the rest of use and find better real trade runs and hunt those. Funny how that works.. -

But is it every one elses fault that some don't want to change or adapt? I still going to wait for this big zerg of lost ports they are expecting with off hours flips. Hell I been looking at ports to flip for our own clan and it's slim pickings unless we get the EU guys to help us in there prime time. Even than if they defend it than we don't win the port, maybe they should put all the energy into making good defense zones for there clan and nations holdings. I see some nations have ports all over the place. I suspect a few of those nations will loose them pretty quickly if they don't defend them properly. Is that bad, no that means you just couldn't support and defend that port. Also you can't win all the time. One nation is always going to be at top. That nation might not be yours. If you can't hold a bunch of ports than drop some and let the big boys fight it out. It seems a lot of the folks complaining are the top dogs that are now threaten with change to there system which means they might not be top dogs any more very quickly. That is very much how it works in the real world. Odds can change very fast and so can results. From my experience the nations/clans that are willing to adapt and support other players tend to attact players. Also the nations/clans that fight tend to attract players cause folks want to do something. US/GB on GLOBAL couldn't understand this and blamed us for folks rolling pirates when they got bored making our PvP/RvR numbers even stronger. Cause they wouldn't fight any one they game there players nothing to do. When big wars broke out player and server pop went up big time, when no one was doing anything it went down. You need to give your players in your nation/clan things to do or they will get bored and move on to another nation or game. See you did it again, what does me living in the USA or snowflakes have anything to do with this convo. Your so blinded by the fact you can't live with other players on a game playing in there time zones and enjoying the game or even playing out of them that you can't see the big picture. Let me tell you something I work nights/eves. I play more in the SEA/AUS and EU time zones than my own. Maybe if just maybe ya'll spent all this energy on recruiting players to support off time zones of your main numbers than you wouldn't have to worry about them. Your down fall is going to be in EU time zone not in off times. Yes you might loose a port here or there that you didn't put a proper timer on, but that is your fault not the games. Though I have to agree why don't we all give it a month or two and see how things unfold. To many are just willing to give up without even trying. Do we really want those type of players around trying to control how the game path goes if they will give up so easily? As for numbers, you do know that EU prime time is when most of us are at work? You will prob see better numbers on the weekends, but this is also holiday season and folks are working over time before they get time off for the holidays and many won't be on during them cause they will be spending time with family so don't be judging the numbers so quickly. Also remember that 70-80 extra players are just those on at that time. You see a rise over the whole day that is actually any thing like 700-800 players over the whole day (well prob less) as it's only who's on at that moment. You forget not every one is going to play EU prime time. I have to get ready and go to work at this time during the week, but I'll be active during your prime time on weekends i don't have things planned. Sure this will be the same for many others. Yah they keep saying we don't get it or just ignore it, when I think we get it better than they do. They have the numbers, they own the ports, they set the timers. They shouldn't be loosing ports unless they where going to loose it any way to that EU clan that took it from them. It's not that clans fault they also have SEA/US players to support them, they took your EU prime time port on fair grounds in your own best time and you lost it. Suck it up and move on. I'm going to bet that we don't see a big zerg of ports turned to other time zones like they think. Yes there will be some, but it won't be like the whole dang server. We even talk about leaving ports in EU prime time when we capture some cause that is when they could be best defended with numbers.
