Yah I only have gunnery on one char and 5 rings on that same char, but I also played a lot up until recent patches (cause I wasn't working). You don't need those to win fights. I still don't have AoSH either (did have two books but ops and learned one). Folks need to get it out of there heads they need something to win. 9 times out of 10 those guys that have all those slots unlocked and rare books prob play the game so much the going to beat you even if they used a store bought ship. The other guy is just a PvE with no clue how to manual sail, but he has all the books cause he grinds AI all the time. @admin any patch notes from this morning update. At least I think we had one as it's showing my game got an update this morning.

I don't mind the captian chest for the mods, but what I don't like is you can pop into a port, buy the rare mats needed, craft the mod and than pop back out to where you need it. The resources need to be brought back to a port to be crafted so chance some oe gets your trade ship. Easy solution is make the work shop needed not just for cannons, but any mod you want to craft you have to have a work shop in a port and bring all mats to that workshop to craft the mods.

Upcoming Patch
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I have suggested in the past doing it like this. Every on that did a port battle win or lost gets one VM no matter the nation. Than give out your 1-3 rewards (we have what 11 nations so top three isn't that big). 1st Place gets 3, 2nd gets 2 and 3rd gets 1. This is on top of the 1 every one that went to a port battle gets no matter what place your nation is in. This means you get rewarded for fighting and not just sitting around. Also it should not be a reward to all players in the nation. It should be a reward of those that have been in port battles and fought. Sorry if all you do is sit around and PvE you should not be getting VM's. You can buy them off a player that does that content. If your fighting and not placing your still getting PvP Marks and eventionally those marks will be more than enough to pay for what the VM's would get you. So there is always other means to get 1st rates. Just can't do it if you don't do those options or pay some one else that does. Believe me there are folks sitting on millions that can buy those ships if they want or trade rare mods they get from there PvE grind. -
And remember AI can use double ball/charge too. Nothing better than getting next to a sinking ship or close to it and it starts to use double ball on you at point blank range.

Upcoming Patch
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Yet I seen tons of port battles in the past, not so much with the new BR system where people brough nothing but trashed store bought ships to a port battle and than wonder why they lost. So maybe you should think things through a bit more. I got a lot of port battles under my belt from GLOBAL/PvP2 serve. Never say folks won't do anything, cause believe me folks will do it. Specially folks so worried about loosing pixels won't bring there best ships all the time. Not to mention the use of them in screening fleets. -

You know I actually thought workshop was going to be used for that instead of just cannons. By the way cannons should give XP. I have a baby char still at like crafting 10 and was going to level him up doing cannons until I found out he doesn't get xp for them. That and most of the stuff you craft you don't. I really hate the fact I'm going have to open up a shipyard and make a bunch of junk ship to level his crafting up. I'm fine with slow xp gained from mats, but cannons should be added to this. That would be a way to make it where you have to craft those rare mods at a home port you have a workshop in. I still like the captian's chest concept though, but just make it where you have to bring the resources out of a port and produce them some where else unless you own that port. Yah folks can still use alts and all but not every one has alts. Game should not be made around the concept folks have alts or not. When I test things I test them as a single player or small clan (I have 5 chars and 4 are all in the same nation.) -
Upcoming Patch
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
The one solution for that is capped ships can't be brought into PB's, but I kinda don't like this cause I think we should be able to use what ever we can. Maybe have them keep there BR for tag purpose and PB entery but they have reduced BR for them to start PvP battles of there own. -
Upcoming Patch
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I'm not sure I like BR 1, look at the Basic cutter, even though it can't start PvP it is sitll being abused by joining low level missions and other things. Basic cutter should not be a ship you can just jump into, with the return to closes Outpost added when you get sink you should only be able to use a basic cutter if you have no other combat ships in your docks (leave out trade ships). Just like how POTBS had fallback ships up to a certain level. Now what I would do with AI ships is have them only have 1-2 perm slots instead of 3 and have the only 3 Ship Knowledge slots. I would not make them BR 1 cause folks can than use them to run things that are important thinking they won't get tagged or they will use them to annoy folks or join battles if it's going to be limited like the Basic cutters. Maybe give half BR of the parent ship for rewards of it being sunk. Other wise I'll take my 1 BR ship with a group of other players and get crazy PvP marks by singing low level players in them. Cause if I sink some one in a basic cutter I still get rewards they just don't get any rewards. So don't go to the no risk high reward thing again we had issues with basic cutters in the past. Now what I would do along with the slot limit on it is make them like the POTBS flallbacks. captured ai ships have reduced stats from a built ship. Hell just make all captured ships Oak/Oak Not a big fan of crewspace, but Oak/Crewspace could work too. You can still grind AI with that, but it's crap to use for any PvP. And mark them all so every one knows the player is in an AI ship...maybe just put the tag *BASIC* on there ship names in OW or some other mark. Navy Brig (B) would be what some would see for a ship that is AI captured as the B would stand for basic ship. -
Upcoming Patch
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I actually kinda been taking a break and playing other games. I figure I'll wait until they get the next update out before i get to active other than weekends. That and new job since the Merger has keep me away from the game other than weekends any way. I'm interested to see how the UI and Tutorial changes work out. Maybe the balance of the ships finally too. -
Copper Plating
Sir Texas Sir replied to HachiRoku's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
One of the biggest problems with high value resources like Cart is that you can pop into port, buy it, if you have the resources to produce it into mod than you put it in your chest they are all safe, no risk of your high value resources being captured in a ship moving them. -
Copper Plating
Sir Texas Sir replied to HachiRoku's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I like this, but lets not have one port only, maybe two, three max. There should be a chance for more than one nation to own a resource not just the two big dogs fighting over one port. I never understood why they removed the regional bonuses as it was one of the reason folks took ports back than was just to own them. They could make the sail refits a regional bonus thing that comes with a ship that is built in that region/port only. This is a way to keep from having certain mods stack able as you can only get that mod by building in that region. It takes up one of your perm slots and you can pick if you want it on that ship or not or have the slot open for mods. Copper shouldn't be super rare so I would say a couple of ports that folks can actually fight over. This actually kinda good as it spreads it out all over the place. One major port in each region per say of this resource. -
The Great Balancing of The 4ths
Sir Texas Sir replied to Fluffy Fishy's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I actually like this...leave the GUSTAV ADOLF in game but move it to 3rd rate position with the BR and mods of the SOL's used on it. Every one that has one in game keeps it as this ship. Than make it a PvP reward ship. Than bring the Wasa close to same ship with the down graded guns and maybe some stat changes and put it with the 4th rates. We need more ships and this is one way to kill two birds with one stone. The Wasa will return as a CM ship but being balance to be more close in with the rest of the 4th rates as the jack of all, but master of none just like the Hermione is for her class of ships. She's not really great at any thing or bad either so she makes a great 5th rate CM ship for folks. -
Paints, yes this again
Sir Texas Sir replied to Landsman's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Why would you have to do grinding? Ship wipe will happen on release, but new paints so they will work with NA:L and the game will be like ship knowledge. Once you learn it you will be able to put that paint on all ships of that type not just once and that is it. The coding means it won't work on current ships so need for the wipe. That all fine but why not return current paints for us to have as drops and RvR rewards and such to make folks happy. I loved they gave us a new paint as a NYE/X-mas gift, but it was for a ship I never really use (am grinding it out right now though). So there is no reason they couldn't bring back any of the old paints. Would be nice cause some of the ships look pretty bland or to much alike. I use to love running all my boarding ships Pink and than Black ships for other PvP stuff and than I would have some goof set ups on other ships. -
4th rate Rebalance
Sir Texas Sir replied to sounthernrebel78's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Ingermanland is an old out dated ship that is why it's with the 4th rates. Though I do think all the old 4th rates need some of there old stats back to make them more on par with newer ships. I been saying this since test bed and maybe tweek the acceleration for the ship so it takes it longer to get to it's top speed than 4th rates and maybe a little tweek -
Lack of chasers severly limits gameplay
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I use to love that ship when I was leveling up my second char. I kinda skip past it with my first though and went straight into the Trinc from the Surpise. I twas a tuff little bugger in fights against much bigger ships, but it kinda go forgotten and left behind as more and more ships came out. Though I have to admit they make great fleet ships when grinding AI or protecting your Traders (though I prefer to be the combat ship for that). Some one posted a pic with a dead zone in front of the bow, I would be all for doing that with bow chasers and giving more ships them if they take out the super accuracy of the stern chasers. That means you have to actually be a little off from the ship your chasing to tag and not exactly on it's arse. -

Sir Texas Sir replied to Young's topic in Tavern
Not really sure what all happen on my first day, but my first week was pretty much me going out in a basic cutter trying to do the missions and getting sunk about 22 times before I won a mission (they where hard back than). Some one told me to do small battles as you don't loose your ships and you get XP so I started to do that. Than I got my first PvP kill of this player named BLOOD, guy had no life he was always in small battles, but man did I sink him. THAN SOME A-HOLE HAD TO KILL MY GLORY AND TELL ME HE WAS A NPC.......>>GRRRRRRRRRRR<< -

A reputation system would make a great way to change nations in game. You go pirate, than gain reputation by freelancing as a Privateer for the new nation. Once you get high enough reputation than you become pat of that nation. There always needs to be an in game way to get any thing that some player can pay real money for. Until they find out that they can't get any marks unless they actually RvR and fight....."I forged my own forged papers to give to others and they never knew they only had fake forged papers of forged papers......" -
Lack of chasers severly limits gameplay
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
1. The super accuracy on Stern chasers should of been gone along time ago. Wasn't the only reason they did that was to give trade ships a chance? With it ships like Wasa and Suprise can actually slow down several ships and escape that might miss it with the normal accuracy of bows. 2. Tag should be like the FFA battles it's positional join and when you tag your where you tag at not way off in the distance. I seen so many good tags mest up cause of the distance is way to far when you should be right on them and be able to get a broad side off on them at start of battle. Than they take off and shread your sails with there super accurate stern guns as you miss all over the place with normal bow guns. They should have two tag/pull cirlces. The BR one and than an out side bigger one (remember when they had the 2.5 min join circle) that allows you to join instantly when the tag is done or not join at all. You will be at a distance but still it's an option in cause you plan to go do other things or tag other players. The defensive tags and than having to stop and turn to get to your join circle is just BS as it messes up most tags the majority of the fights. Save the join cirlces for the safe zones around capitals only, every where else should be positional join with the two circles. 3. I been saying this for every that press gange/surgeon type skill (pretty much after battle you get a percentage of your crew back) and area control should be default skills that mayeb you get while you level up. Every other level you get a few skills auto. Just like I think Crafting perks should be tied to crafting levels/ranks not your combat rnaks. Split these things up and make them more about leveling up. -

You know those 4 guns I never put on mine unless I'm runing all 6lbrs for a tagger...yah those guns would be slipped over into a bow/stern position real fast. Maybe they could code it so that you have the option to put them on the sides or in the chasers position but not both. Though ships like the Essex should have chaser any way. If I remember right the reason it didn't was for balance at that time as it had a pretty heavy broad side compared to other ships in game at that time. -

Introducing PVP separated ranks. Why not?
Sir Texas Sir replied to victor's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
We do need a reputation system in game though. Though I don't think it should be tied to any rewardsi n battle other than maybe a boost to XP/Credits gained for sinking that player in another faction cause of there reputation. Say your a lowly British player and you catch me on a bad day. I'm French but got a high rep of sinking nothing but British players. You actually win the fight you get a 10-20% boost to the xp/credits rewards on top of the normal Player kill over AI boost cause of my reputation of killing so many ships of the British nation. Reputation system can replace Smuggler Flag too. You get a high enough reputation with a certain nation trade faction you don't need to smuggle into the port, but on the flip side if you have bad enough reputation evne the smuggler flag won't let you into a port that isn't of your own nation or freetown. So same example I only sink British Trade ships my French char has a very bad British Trade reputation I can't use any British ports for trade at all. While you as the British player have never sunk a French trader, in fact sank many players with high bad British French trade rep so your reputation with French traders is that you help them by Privateering the bad guys....so you have a good reputation and can go into french ports with a trade ship and no smuggler flag at all to do trade with them. The French Navy might still hate you, but the Traders don't. POTBS kinda had a system like this with there reputation system. -
And make sure to actually log out of the game, nut just let the game boot you and relog with the game client still open. I know that has stopped it from showing in the past.
