Important october patch information
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
It was always ready. Cecilia is a special ship for special circumstances. We have no plans changing that at this stage. Pirate republic mechanics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Pirateswere and will be discussed extensively. We are not sure why you propose to mention pirate mechanics if it is not in the patch. Forts going away permanently? The notes said every city got several forts and towers. Regarding your comments about some people spending free time making models for us. We would love to do it but unfortunately since 2013 only 2 modelers were able to come close to the quality and time standards we require. One of them we refused first time but he came back 1 year later with better quality and his ship will get in the game. Everyone gets the chance but they have to make a better model. -
Rookie regions - new player experience
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Heh. AWS cant handle combat of games like World of tanks or ours. We have no plans to send young players to separate servers . Rookie players will experience the most fun part of the game right from the start now. No point to wait or gate them from the cutter brawls against other rookies.. They will pvp against each other and against veterans. If they dont like captain vs captain combat they most likely will not like anything else.-

Important october patch information
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Order of importance for hostility generation PVP kills anywhere: OW or in player pve missions War supplies delivery Raids (in the future) PVE kills How alliances will interact with all this Alliance members grant your nation 50% hostility The rest grant your nation 25% hostility For example British are increasing tensions in Northern Puerto Rico US Allies are helping them Pirates are chasing everyone Brit sinks Spanish 1st rate with full crew = British gets 700 points all allied members are getting 350 points for this region US player sinks Spanish 1st rate with full crew = US gets 700 points all allied members are getting 350 points for this region Another pirate (or any un-allied nation) sink 1 Spanish first rate = every nation gaining hostility on the port get 175 points But whats important If Pirates (or any other unallied nation) sink 2 first rates - one for British and one for US Player - Pirates drop hostility by 1400 points So if you sink the defending nation or their allies = you gain tension level for you and everyone else who is getting hostility up If you the attacking nation or their allies = you reduce tension level for the defender Player participation You personally - as a player - gain war effort points for the region. They are needed for future use in special rewards and in determination on who enters the PB first to provide the option to block trolls or otherwise abusive nation mates (cases that happened before).-

Solution for After Battle Screen

Yes Dropping players to the OW after 5 mins I am sure it will down-voted, and suspect the forum is just giving the wrong impression of the severity of the problem. -
Important october patch information
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Lets see how always open PvE missions will support that statement Also. PVE to PVP ratios were always huge even before release. There is no need to pretend - eve online and naval action are mostly pve games. Our PVE to PVP ratios are better than eve online where for every pvp kill there are almost 700 pve kills (as far as i remember).-

Picking on what? We clarified the statement you made about us. We never said we shelved variable winds because of the reviews. You seem to be connecting statements too much where no real connection exists. In fact we never said we shelved it completely. Nothing is final and everything might change in the early access. Wind strength might get in. We are only sure about avatars and sword fighting, and kraken. That will never be in this game.-

Solution for After Battle Screen

"BR screen forced exit" poll will be added to the game after the content patch in a hot fix forum is not a reliable source to get everyone to vote on this issue. -
Important october patch information
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Hostility drops every day by a certain amount - so if attacking nation does nothing the region will eventually become peaceful. If both sides in a battle lose 5 sols the effect on hostility will be somewhat neutral (but we implemented modifiers to provide some advantage to one of the sides if necessary to find the right balance).-

Hello Captains Here is the brief description for the content patch that will come in October. We are going to be testing multiple things in the patch. Rookie regions Bahamas will become a rookie region. More information here http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16431-rookie-regions-new-player-experience/ Map will change Some free towns will move, some will be replaced, some will disappear. The map will be split into regions. More information here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16468-important-final-map-player-action-required-for-both-pve-and-pvp-servers/ And here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16423-free-town-changes-important/ Delivery orders Delivery orders will allow players to receive trading xp and crafting xp by helping the in game economy. All ports with the unfulfilled NPC demand and large player contracts will generate delivery quests that players can take and fulfill. This will allow traders to exert more influence on the market and see what is needed. Trading and resources Pricing systems will be upgraded, new goods introduced, new NPC demand will be created for some crafted materials. Weights, prices, stacks and volumes will change. New buildings for new resources will be allowed. Trader tools are integrated into the client. They will help adventurous traders to find good deals in the Caribbean. They might also help privateers to see where people might be going for good deals. Ship Crafting Quality of the ship will increase certain stats of the ships. New resources will be required to craft exceptional ships Crafting ships in some regions will give them regional bonuses. Controlling certain regions will become more important if you want that particular bonus for the vessel. Capital regions will not give bonuses. Upgrades Role of upgrades will be reduces, importance of ship qualities will be increased. Contracts will be allowed for upgrades Upgrades can be broken down for parts Some regular upgrades will become permanent Perks Some perks will be rebalanced. Perks giving drastic advantages will be adjusted (for example pump inventor).ROE We will be testing several options in ROE. This might upset some users but it have to be done before release (will be impossible after). Open world battles: 2 circles system will be added. 1 tag circle for attack and 1 large circle for pull. Battles will close instantly on start (except for rookie zones) Rookie zones battles. Battles always start 1v1. Battle will be opened until BR evens out. Hostility missions: Battle will be opened all the time. Invisibility timer might be added on battle exit to allow some breathing space against revenge ganking OW NPC fleets will no longer count for 5X anti griefing protection. Only players will affect that rating Crew size will lower battle rating of your fleet. Example (numbers are for illustration only): If sail a cutter with 2 Bucentaures in your fleet with 40 crew on each - you will fleet will be valued as 3 cutters for ROE. Mission changes. Missions can be taken for every region from any port. Missions will generate or reduce hostility - thus enemy should be able to influence the flow of events. Because of that missions will always be open for entry for all sides until 25v25 is reached. Bot distribution changes With new hostility system bot distribution changed. Regions will have national NPC fleets. For example you will mostly see british NPCs near Jamaica and only occasionally will see other nations fleets who sailed there from the nearby region. Pirate fleets added Port battles and conquest Port battles (instance) will not change as forts took too much time. Port battle set up system will change significantly. Port battles will automatically arrange 48 hours after hostility level reaches 100%. Hostility will be generated by PVP (major impact), PVE (minor impact), Missions (minor impact), and War effort supplies deliveries (minor impact). Port battles will be a national effort and will require coordinated work of several fleets. Assault flag will be removed. Timers are removed (for testing) as we believe that in new system port battles will arrange themselves when there is max presence of players for both size (due to pvp impact). If this assumption proves to be inaccurate we will bring back lord protectors (but with wider time limits). New port system will immediately show players where the action is because the number of port battles and hostility zones is limited and nation can have a limited number of port battles set up. Alliances will receive their final 3 week length. Port and coastline defenses Large forts and towers will be added around ports. The number will depend on the island and coast line size. Forts will fire at enemies of the state and can provide good protection for traders and small groups. Two new ships will be added Endymion Indefatigable Both ships basic hulls were made by Ragnar Hairy Trousers (community member) and adapted by Game Labs artists. With these two ships we will test 1 durability viability. As a result these ships will only be added to NPCs fleets and will have to be found on the OW. A lot of other minor changes, improvements and additions like surrender during boarding, crew colliders standardization, and lots of fixed bugs. Active testing stage will start this week and if everything is ok patch will be deployed within 10-15 days. Will edit if we forgot to add anything. Feel free to remind us as well. Discuss. Edit: update 19/10 More infos about october patch: - Alliances will start fresh - The number of activated PBs (Port Battles) will be limited to 2 offensive PBs per nation at a time - Flipping a port (reaching the maximum hostility level) will take approximately 1-2 days (the hostitily rates will be adjusted during testing) - It will be possible to build production buildings in ally ports - It will be possible to defend an ally region on the open sea - Some regional capitals will have 1st rate PBs, some 4th rate PBs, some others shallow PBs - on this map you can see the PB type (big star = 1st rates, small star = 4th rates, small star & blue circle = shallow vessels) http://imgur.com/a/R2JGz List of PB types:

Well there are a lot of kid reviews you can ignore. But this one has 190 helpful votes - that is why it is on top of the list. No-one have said anything against it yet. Unless everyone agree As i said before actions speak louder than words. We also like talking to community - and sometimes what sounds perfect in Russian can sound very bad in English-

Time Sink Called Naval Action
admin replied to Cmdr RideZ's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Well He is right with one thing - it does indeed takes a long time sometimes to do what you want especially if you want insta action. There are games like this (Elite for example). And this could be a problem for some in a busy world. We are addressing it with somewhat with port hostility and rookie zones. You will see where action is easier. Also he should inquire about the Fellvred small battles club -

Developer words don't matter - action speaks louder than words. Talking does not deliver features and we do deliver ships and features with our 3 programmers and 4 artists. But reviews matter as they show users whats going on. If you disagree with the reviews you should do something. That review has a high helpful rank because it structured well and bashes the devs, but it does not mean its completely true. For example that review mentions the special premium ships for moderators - it is clear misrepresentation of information and twisting the facts. There are no premium ships in a game now and no moderator has ever received one. And special gifts for testers is also a lie because there are no testers in game and everyone is playing the same builds (forum tester status is only forum related and refers to approximately 154 forum members who tested the game before paypal sales started). In fact: We give ships as presents to every user from time to time. Including the french flagship Bucentaure even to players who were 1 min old. (the ship from the patch that the person is talking about). Did you downvote it as not helpful? l (which means you disagree with the review for example because it contains clear misrepresentation of the information). Did you vote it as helpful if you agree with it? http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197991377081/recommended/311310/ Whenever you see someone is not saying the real truth about this community you can take a stand (if you disagree of course) and make a comment without staying silent. So go out there and express your opinion please. vote helpful on the reviews you agree with, down vote the reviews you disagree with. Your voice matters. If you see us doing a wrong thing you can say it to us here on forum directly too. But if you stay silent nothing good will happen.-

Aggro NPC Pirates for PvE
admin replied to Angus McGregor's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Until bots are taught to chase effectively this will be just a time waster both for the trader and for the bot. Bot will attack you and just waste your battle timer and exit timer. You will escape in 100% of cases Even if bots receive a significant buff to speed they will still struggle in chases. -
Release UI hints or plans ?
admin replied to Mrdoomed's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
too early mate in a patch we will start working on the functions first and after functions are done we will paint it for example multiple ship related features are spread across multiple screens currently. for example fleet, crew, repairs, equipment are spread around. Fleet management + officer management + fitting should be in one place in one screen with 1 click accessibility to everything. So first step of UI work will focus on function and preparations for localizations. -

We use the open development approach. And ARE influenced by the community. In that particular case an irrelevant low priority feature that community did not care about (that was used to attack a perfectly good patch) was replaced by amazing and historical ship paint customization that a lot of players wanted. It was a surprise - no-one expected it - it was a pure win win. We will continue to be passionately direct and will continue to listen to the community who helps us to navigate the narrow straights of our first mmo. And sometimes will say bad things. We always forgive players for being passionate, sometimes impatient and sometimes too direct. Because its a two way street players could do the same.-

Devlog: Forthcoming content patches plan

This is a development forum. We were and will always be direct and honest with players saying things as they are. We consider this a strong point. Some players don't like it, most do AND prefer to talk to devs directly. This is a house and we can say things as they are to each other. If someone likes lies and smiles he should prefer No Man's Sky forums - who are openly dishonest with players. Also that feature that was removed which one was that? - Can you please rank it for me importance wise?-
