If port transfer is cheap and free it creates too many exploits. Also its not historical. No nation was able to transfer regions to another nation peacefully without loss of productivity.

We see what community wants Individual players see when their idea is popular or not We will provide responses for first batch of voted proposals soon. We said above we are in this topic for conversationalist purposes. we don't take ideas in conversation threads. Nations wont change and more might appear. + judging by votes nation number is not a high priority on the community's mind.

Please stop bringing this strange phrase that we dont consider them We consider all good proposals and implemented most ideas that we liked, including open world itself (na initally was a instance based lobby shooter). We never promised that we will implement all the player proposals and never promised that we will reply to each of them. Proposals were always considered. Many demand that we work like a 20-100+ crew AAA company, demand that we review every post and reply to everyone, they forget that NA is an indie game made by a small indie team. At the peak we had 3 programmers, now we have one. None of our games had teams bigger than 3 programmers. Now to both @Koltes and you The game is being sold as is. This is the game. 50+ ships, beautiful world, adrenaline and frustration. With its beauty and flaws. Consider the game done. It might improve, but not by much.
  9. We had alliances. Biggest nations signed an alliance controlled large portions of the map - there is no difference with what it is now. The only natural limiter of large nations is crew recruitment and conversion times (you cant recruit crew in a port you just captured and 50 in game years must pass before you can recruit or repopulate with immigrants) The second best limiter is forced alliances. But forced alliances while increasing RVR options, drastically reduce global pvp
  10. To rephrase.. if we opened a subscription based server with just 3 nations next moth - it would start well and will then will have to be closed down, for being unpopular.
  11. We are not planning to change national mechanics or number of nations, until current priorities are done - they may never get on the list as there is always something more important than this. Meanwhile There IS an example of the flag without ports in the game already. This means the number of nations is in the hands of the players. This is not 2020, we dont have guaranteed borders or NATO. Don't like how someone has colonies in the Americas? You are already at war! Destroy their investments, capture ALL their ports, burn their ships and hear lamentation of their clan leaders in chat.

  13. That did not relate to sweden and swedish captains. It meant a lot of nations changed leadership and every time we heard whining about strong nations. Pirates ruled the world and we were bombarded with - PIRATES BAD PLEASE NERF.. so Sweden might go strong again - when next Carl comes to play. And then whiners will say NERF SWEDEN - NON HISTORICAL

  15. We did explain. North Americas had multiple russian colonies. We never said we are looking for caribbean only. Nations that could be still added Malta/Hospitalliers - an elite PVP order which could be invite only or something (had a colony in 1651), some scrolls could be found and some elite players might decide to resurrect it through a chain of events or something (Can be destroyable) Venice/Duchy of Tuscany - could be nation of traders (established presence in 1608) Scotland - Special historical nation for @Angus MacDuff - had colonies in multiple places in the Americas including NA town of Dariena Norse - special early historical nation for @Swedish Berserker - had presence in north north americas. But maybe too much... But i like how @Swedish Berserker talks to haters.. maybe i will grant him a colony.. can be a destroyable nation. Lost boarding = lost a character.

This game is a what if game. We have no plans to change anything in terms of national composition and are only replying for educational purposes.

We had reservations about poland, even though courland had a colony. Poland was final decision was made because @Bart Smith one of our first testers and mods - said please.
  18. We are deliberatly stating North Americas. If you could get to Americas you could get to Caribbean. Read up about Russian adventures on the west coast and alaska. Its really simple.. Original choice in 2013 was 3 nations but then we researched the subject. First addition was United States, because we wanted USS constitution in game. If United States (did not exist before 1775) get in - all nations who were present get in.
  19. You propose the game to have historical nations. we already do. We are not bound by an incorrect and non historical 3 nation view (only britain only spain only france) which was pushed into traditional history books and games by the victors (History is written by the victors). Eventually we will add all nations which had settlements in the North Americas. Maracaibo was founded by german conquistadors and the area near maracaibo was controlled by german kings for quite a while. Brandenburg owned the whole island of St Thomas Chinese laborers had a settlement on Trinidad from 1800+ And Poland Courland controlled Tobago until they sold it to the English. Couple of nations are even lacking now. For example scotland which had a colony in Dariena for some time Once scotland and some other minor nations are added your desire to have historical colonies will be fulfilled. We will have historical caribbean composition. (not the incorrect composition of nations which other game designers were pushing in their games). Our game explores the WHAT IF scenarios.. What IF the courland captains were as ambitious as you guys are? What IF denmark or Sweden did not sit still and expanded from their small holdings?
