  1. no this is most likely issues with your internet connection
  2. l'architecture française est belle WIP
  3. The game is good. Most mechanics were born out of necessity and solve problems. Just like plane eject systems they might not be perfect and might break a leg or two but they work.
  4. Got it. Timers. I see you are starting to see. How about 3-4 hours timer. Not small but not too big. We can even make them cost some money and allow the defender to decide on the timezone. I can deploy it just like that, will take a second.
  5. Higher how? 1000 First rates? 100 East Russians can grind this in 20-30 mins after maintenance without anyone having a chance to defend. Even higher? Calculate the number of required ships and ask yourself what would smaller nation achieve. Please post your ideas in the idea suggestions threads they will be considered if they are good and highly voted.
  6. How did not we think of the 24 hour hostility window. This is amazing, players will be then able to gain hostility while enemy is sleeping, can even flip the port right after maintenance.
  7. The point is to show that this conversation is BS Dev: Hull speed Pi is around 3 Some players: NO.. YOU ARE WRONG PI IS 3.14159265359.... it can even go further and exceed it, here is the link____ BS part is that both statements are true yet they continue to argue we are wrong.
  8. I need to tell you something There was a guy here who argued on wind strength and its effect on speed We said that in a strong wind almost gale a heavy ship will be a lot faster or faster than any frigate because frigate wont be able to take as much sail (and small ships will not sail at all) He claimed that we are wrong and argued that the rare out of print book had the proof (he posted the text from the book not the screens) the proof were the real sailing reports . I did not take it lightly. The book was out of print and was not sold in Europe, so once I got to USA I immediately got this book delivered from a private used book store. Here is what he used to claim as proof of our bad view on wind strength. The guy posted the reference without thinking, without trying to analyze this number of 16 knots for a merchant man. He did not understand what he was talking about and assumed whatever you see in print is correct. The book listed a french merchantman sailing 16 knots. Every Clipper captain would look at this sailing report with disgust even in 1859. Every Endymion class frigate captain (and Pomone frenchman) would say "excuse me but the veffel wont go so fast" We accept references only if they are well thought through and understood by the author from the position of theory and practical seamanship and game and game too. Theorists are great but practitioners will always win. We are very opinionated on this subject. We wont discuss your position if it is argued from the friend/foe perspective. We always check what we say and pass it through the cross referencing. And wont take it lightly when someone dismisses what we say without actually attempting to understand what we are saying. So we will repeat. The longer ship in with equal conditions be faster. And 18th century ship will never exceed theoretical hull speed. For example: Using old Endymion waterline length formula - Endymion theoretical hull speed is 16.31 What does it mean? Exactly what we said. Endymion speed will never exceed 16.31-41 knots whatever they do. Never. Endymion will sail 15.5 knots on the best day based on the reports and will not exceed 16.3 knots whatever hull speed counter-points @Archaos posts here. Endymion reports are correct and are listed in multiple sources. And hull speed theory give a proper limit for every age of sail veffel, and is good enough to give a ballpark number without going into eddy making calculations.
  9. Hull speed is a 18th century understanding of speed and could be used in games about 18th century. Captain of that time had limited understanding of sailing behavior and should not use modern theories on seamanship. Froude who advanced these theories was just [-5] years old when Trafalgar happened. It was all found later. What is your point of arguing? Its just seems you are arguing for the sake of arguing - which leads me to believe you are just a veiled hater who just tries to sneak "AHA THEY ARE WRONG" statement in every post you can.
  10. Most important: this statement I am making does not come because of this post. We were planning to do it for a while. Here is a statement We are aware of the complexity of some missions and while hardcore players like me and many of our fans enjoy that challenge a lot of players don't like the almost impossible feeling and secretly hate it. We just could not support two modes before. We plan to implement 2 modes for Steam launch or right after the launch Normal mode - hard but fair Hard mode - current mode We used the same method for Ultimate General Civil War which is very highly praised by players. It has a easier mode and while people like hard challenges sometimes they just want to enjoy the game and relax. Two mods will allow everyone to experience the game they enjoy.
  11. We actually plan to start sending keys earlier before steam launch. Announcement coming next week or in a week. So hold long just a little bit.
  12. that was indeed a good link @Archaos send me more in pm if you have! we are collecting those.
  13. We don't have OUR theory .. There is universal theory. What we meant is this - If all things with the hull are being equal then the longer ship will have faster speed Hull speed is the maximum theoretical speed. Meaning whatever your Block coefficient is, whatever your sail power is, you wont ever exceed hull speed, because that`s how it works. Below that speed many other things matter. But the max possible speed for the ship is determined by its hull length https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_speed Of course this is 18/19th century theory has been improved later - but we are in the 18/19th century right? What people are complaining about that the 14th meter wide Redoutable is faster than another 14 meter wide, shorter ship. And they both correct and are incorrect too, as until we have variable wind and ability to set sails individually and until the safety is removed (ability to capsize your ship with too much sails), we will always have these discussions. But everybody know that if we remove safety (ships start to capsize due to too much sail) we will remove many players too (sea legends will have proper model in this regard)
  14. Standard edition (cheaper version without immediate access) is no longer available.
  15. No its not ridiculous. Major driver of speed is length of the vessel. Hull speed is determined by keel length. And modified by skill and fitouts, and basic sailpower. It is the reality of seamanship. Theoretical 3rd rate will always be faster than theoretical frigate at best point just because its longer, if their sail power by weight is the same. If frigate is longer its base speed will be faster. But only at its best point. Overall. Get a fast ship and equip it for chase. Every ship is faster than every other ship in particular circumstances. There is always a faster (bigger) hammer. The myth that frigate is always faster than a 3rd rate must be cut by red hot axes from the minds clouded by older incorrect games. Its like Asbestos - must be removed from everywhere.
  16. Kings and Queens, Parliaments have decided that hostility missions will no longer be available from Monday 25th May. New methods and doctrines of attacks will gradually spread across the West Indies after proper deliberations with peers and lords.
  17. Proper saves will come with campaign. Current save system is somewhat under-done indeed!
  18. The best feature to learn PVP is actually Loki rune itself. Invade others!
  19. Original Victory was low in the water
  20. Patch soon. We needed to rework conquest flags and flags is a big complete feature itself. Hence it takes longer, but it will feel like a complete conquest overhaul patch with teleport to port battles and unexploitable conquest flags!
  21. Игроки обижаются когда на их предложения не отвечают - текущая схема имеет множество преимуществ включая быструю оценку популярности своего предложения и экономию нашего времени на чтение всего форума.
  22. if a pro player has a chance to close the battle - other players wont even have a chance to sink him. Its a good feature but it limits PVP for an average player. We not going to approve features that reduce PVP.
