  1. theoretical speed of conni is 18,5kn theoretical speed of bellona is 16,4kn theoretical speed of victory is 18,7kn v [kn] = 1,34 * (waterline length[ft])^(1/2)
  2. not to afk sail is a good start for many I guess
  3. Will always leave you in a disadvantage and therefore fake in MP.
  4. However, most of us more accustomed to units of feet and knots are probably more familiar with the Froude Number's close relation - the Speed/Length Ratio. This discovery enabled Froude to compare the performance of boats of different length. For example a 25ft sailboat moving at 5 knots would have the same S/L Ratio at a 100ft patrol boat steaming along at 10knots, and consequently both would develop the same resistance per ton of displacement at those speeds. That makes it even possible to theoretically calc Hull speed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_speed But be careful:
  5. i saw them some time ago 😜 But this way i could advertise some books about women
  6. Doesnt make sense because only men could be en listed on the ship muster roll. All women that served in the navy during age of sail used names of men and had to hide their true gender.
  7. In Nelson's time Admiralty Regulations stated that women were not allowed to be taken to sea and that '... no women be ever permitted to be on board but such as are really the wives of the men they come to, and the ship not too much pestered even with them'. Whatever the rulebook said, however, it is nevertheless clear that women did travel aboard Nelson's ships - and in large numbers, although senior officers were not necessarily in favour of this. When a great personal friend of Nelson, Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, discovered that women had been brought onboard his flagship, he ordered the women ashore because of '... the mischief they never fail to create wherever they are'. He also wrote that 'I never knew a woman brought to sea in a ship that some mischief did not befall the vessel'. The Earl Saint Vincent, another friend of Nelson's, was also against women coming to sea, largely due to their washing their clothes in the ship's fresh water. In our own day, following some passionate debate, official attitudes towards women serving onboard Royal Navy vessels have recently changed. In 1993 women were officially allowed ------------------- During the 1801 Egyptian campaign, over 60 Royal Navy vessels carried and escorted 12,000 troops to Aboukir Bay, Egypt, in an attempt to drive French forces out of Egypt. Out of every 100 men, three soldiers were allowed to bring their wives, which meant that there were at least 360 women in the fleet, as well as their children. These women and children are recorded in the ships' muster books. For instance the muster book of HMS Charon records that there were 30 women and 20 children onboard 'belonging to the 30th Regiment [now the Queen's Lancashire Regiment]'. ----------------------- Books: Nelson's Navy: The Ships, Men and Organisation 1793-1815 by B Lavery (Conway Maritime Press, 1989) Nelson and the Nile: The Naval War against Bonaparte 1798 by B Lavery (Chatham, 1998) A Voice from the Main Deck: Being a record of the thirty years adventures of Samuel Leech by S Leech (Chatham, 1999; originally published in 1857) British Victory in Egypt, 1801: The End of Napoleon's Conquest by P Mackesy (Routledge, 1995) Nautical Economy or Forecastle Recollections of Events during the Last War by J Nastyface (Chatham, 1836) The Life and Adventures of John Nicol, Mariner edited by Gordon Grant (Edinburgh, 1822; reprinted London, 1937) The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy by NAM Rodger (Fontana, 1988) Female Tars: Women Aboard Ship in the Age of Sail by SJ Stark (Constable, 1996)
  8. Was precise coordinates part of the revenge gank problem back as we tested it?
  9. who thought the map will look like this after release Storm is coming^^
  10. you cannot trade between 3 chars on 1 account. But you can between 2 accounts. Multi chars on 1 acc will always be in a disadvantage. And as long you can bypass to run steam more than once on 1 machine there will always be the advantage for more accounts.
  11. Why are other imported ships allowed to join portbattles but not the yacht? @admin + @Ink
  12. was global tho But cerb is a nice ship and i would call her balanced between surprise reno. But herc screwed that up. Herc is a threat to any 5th.
  13. @Sir Texas Sir Why make capitals 5th rate? Capital is for noobs - not for high lvl player. And lets be honest who sails 7th-6th beside new players just a handful of vets. Best place to do mission will be freetown = more pvp for everyone / easier to find = less time + less outposts needed Town and Country capital = safer but need more outposts All I see you asking for is to give the safer place the upper hand so you need less outposts to farm pve without getting interuped by pvp. So who is actual asking to make the game boring? The way admin proposed it - its at least a trade off. More outpost slots for other stuff but danger or less outpost slots available but safer.
  14. old memories
  15. trading goods only serve one player. Removing them and only focus on crafting materials/resources would help everyone. Bring real trade to the caribbean

  17. Friday
  18. Any 5th rate gets destroyed by a herc. Turn bounce shoot. Herc is king. It's ridiculous to see 18pds bounce or 24pds off a turning herc....
  19. why not nerf herc
  20. In the portbattle of puerto del padre was a pirate prince that refused to sink... nerf prince. The requin in the other hand sunk
  21. If I understand the mission system right its to make people move and to spread over the map. Dont ask to make it a pile again So I guess they will sail all available ships
  22. Will we be able to capture more kind of ships from npcs? like trinc/endy (5th rates)
  23. I know double post but some fellows like to read salty threads instead of feedback threads. The original post can be found here: Grape vs Le requin before and after crew hotfix (9. August) Sorry for the late video Because of the half moon shape of the xebec I advise to use unlocked sector to get highest crew dmg or shoot the guns one by one and aim every gun proper, otherwise the half moon shape will eat 3/4 of the locked sector fired broadside. (Dont try to stern rake). All decks have crew as long the grape hits the deck it will do dmg.
