  1. The 120 to join timer is to prevent "port ambush" and "log ambush". Given we have 118 seconds to be able to join a battle that started, coming out of a port or from a login screen renders impossible to do it.
  2. It is already like that... at least my screen shows a 30 secs countdown to attack/be attacked and a 120 timer to join battles... ( am I missing something ? ). The only thing that ALSO happens is that anyone in the circle will be drawn into combat despite the timers. And this is where the new "gank exploit" lies. It's a bloody sad sad thing that such power-gaming finds its way into such a beautiful historical recreation game.

  4. - Reset all Marines AND: - Marines reworked into dettachment numbers, up to company level, instead of crew percentage. (( 1770's there were 5000 signed Marines in 500 companies. )) - Marines being affected by crew loss. Can be replenished with according salaries, prizes, etc. Same as Crew. - Marines should not be a reward drop but recruitable. Introduce Colonial Marines ( militia grade / mercenary ) in the same vein of mechanics but with reduced base fighting ability.
  5. I like it, in theory is good, in practice it comes down to the players even if these mechanics are in place. Having ports individually modelled for economy with their unique qualities and defects might be a way to promote grand strategy. Take Curacao island, Willemstad, for example. Excellent deep water harbour, known to be one of the unique warship shipyards in the caribbean and rival to Habana for ship construction( that's one of the reasons why the Brits took it ). 18th century...it has no extensive farmland, just survival plots, it cannot feed a full workforce, city, taverns, clergy, seamen, marines, royalty, etc... but it is a perfect Port for a Naval Base and Level 3 Shipyard but on the other side of the coin very little production infrastructure if any. Should make it unique. I see more interest in each port being "unique" even if it means that Diplomatic agreements must be reached for nations to exchange goods. Let's say France holds no Gold production ports but has extensive Cotton plantations. Spain wants Cotton, France wants Gold. An agreement is reached ( see War&Peace patch with Lords voting ) an alliance is made and trade can flourish. Should war break out some vital resources could be seized by conquering the towns and holding them.

  8. It will be as smooth as the game mechanics allow. I do not think it will be any diferente in the future, including the black faction, so let's stop right there please. The plan made between the player and whomever going to help is not of our, mine and yours, concern unless you are changing nation or helping someone do it. Actually one of the volunteers changed nation a couple days ago. Cheers. Adapt or fade away.
  9. So, and from that Poyraz exposion ( thanks! ), more speed provokes more pressure, water being water provokes immediate resistance so the turn radius is prolonged to win against that pressure. Lower speeds, less pressure less distance needed. Not sure about the timings if they do the 180ยบ at the same time in reality. I do not think is correct is the circle motion and giving wind direction and reverse pull. Should be more egg'ish ? Drift (water or air )might be hard as hell to code in. The new IL-2 has it for airflow and sometimes results in odd behaviours.

  11. Would be a shame for me to remove NA from my Library if such a thorough guild based patch would hit. But good memories from a great game would remain That's about it. Too much focus on players and too little on people in this 9.9 patch.
  12. Sea Trials was pretty much it. Was nice to test and all but it was an arena type match game. I guess it can be a nice type of game for many, but for many it is also a shallow type of game. Maybe a bit more attention to Small/Large battles is needed ?
  13. Now that is quite nice, having the Small/Large Battles access not only in Port but also spread out in the OW. Could be helpful.
  14. Yes. Feedback, especially in written form in the forum must be more than - game is broken. Some of us are good at mathematics and describing with exact values, others better at describing how it feels.
  15. Steal one of the Musket&Pistols and "shoot the seagul" minigame.
  16. Go freebooter ( true to form ) !!! Let coin be the objective, and let the crew go wild when returning to harbor to bask in the tavern loudness and bathe in the brothel delicacies. Joking What about PvP Missions generated by War ? ( consider war&peace update )
  17. We are at the "crisis discussion point" of any game based on history - facts vs arguments in the realism credibility vs easy gameplay.
  18. Well, taking from the PvP idea bounties can be automated, bounty being equal to NPC market value of items stolen. Can be applied to any nation and also to pirates. Use bounty value as bragging right, pretty much as it is done in E:D ( yarrr damn Federals muahahah )
