Real life a fisherman was a spy. A tavern keeper could be a spy. A wench was certainly a spy and even privateer captains were spies. Gameplay, how do you suggest to deal with this without giving way to said "paranoia" witch hunt ? I suggest all of you want to outlaw because of alt spies to drop your alt accounts as well, because solomon's law does not distinguish between "this alt" or "that alt". In the end all are the same

A good spy is as simple as a basic cutter anchored at large giving info on what ships left port and to where. "Paranoia" would turn away every single player that isn't in your clan/clans.

Looking for PVP in my trinco

the common man, in all true, innocent and most pure form Companions sailing together offer comfort and security when facing half numbers of unknown quality. Facing equal odds is very risky. -

Maybe he wouldn't, like the Mediator's battle versus 5, 3 times the amount of guns combined. By the time both formations, one ship, and this one squadron, bounced each other from there was no way out. She had to win. So yeah, there wasn't a chance to escape, just to win or be recorded as a gallant opponent. So, how to allow captains that know they can fight the odds, say like 2 vs 6, to have their moments of glory in the zone ? -
Thank you for the assessment, even if is not in this thread subject. Can you please record this happening and open a thread about it in here http://forum.game-labs.net/forum/33-combat-mechanics-discussions/ Thank you.

oh yeah. Mostly by making sure they would win. You know... like Monmouth's commander Gardiner request to Robert Cackett to nail the ensign to the mizzen and making sure he'd shoot any hand trying to pull it out. In my opinion crazy bravado. That was a 64 gun 24 pounder facing a 80 gun 42 pounder. How could he know he wouldn't win ? Meta ? For sure they knew about the enemy ships, after all intelligence was important for survival. But we also have that, just the modules and some perks are unknown until used. Very much like them, they only knew enough. In the end, Gardiner wanted that fight. That made the difference. He really wanted it and made sure his ship would win. Lady luck helped, but we do count on her as well. * sips the cider * All good m8, good discussion -

Overpowering the enemy was above saving the ship. Hence why after action reports from both sides were honest. To make sure it was not a needless situation. ( a single frigate saved the jamaica convoy by attacking a yank fleet during 1812. She was lost but her sacrifice was acknowledge as heroic. captain knew the odds, captain knew his duty ) Historical is binary. Either have the entire cake, or try to have as much as the cake as possible. No slicing what fits. -

That's right and a good one and been presented a few times, the need for a balancer so it turns into a quasi-equal match instead of just another form of gank, true enough. Keep it open with forced balancer sounds good. BTW jodgi, just echoing the idea behind the zones. I also think they aren't working. Been in the Nassau Patrol times enough to know it. Majority will take the 100% chances of winning over the 50/50 of a balanced fight. -
Is there a compiled list of ALL modules ( and effects ) ? Would be thankful if it was listed in answer to this question. Thank you.

That is the correct quote. Sail with your friends and even if you are new to the game and always been affraid of pvp, fear not. Have a taste of blood. Rewards are worth it. Sorry to burst it, but zones were not tailored for endgame pros, but for everyone, from day zero to hour 5000. -

Not old day, more like previous tests And this is true, the way some campaigns were fought to defend such "naval bases" was really intense. -

So yards control should be affected by mast and rigging damage ? Sounds interesting. -

Example, - yesterday, sailing my pickle, come across a essex. Capture it. I had to use only the crew i left port with, in the pickle to crew both ships ? Meaning I had to return to port with the prize to fully furnish and crew it ? Hmmm I like it. -

No. They just had a role to perform. To engage the enemy wherever it could be found and bring it into submission, by sinking or capturing the vessel or ship. -

I think that is the purpose of the zones. Deliver as much damage as I can before I either go down or emerge victorious 😮 -

Let's take a quintessential example then, to add consistency to the claims. Shannon versus Cheasapeake - How much sea area was used from first shot to last shot ? Can even look to the Glorious 1st of June. How much sea area was used, from first to last shot fired ?
