  1. Hi Many thanks. I will start to do so Cheers 🍻
  2. So I have now been playing NA 2 weeks last Saturday. There are ups and downs for me of course. But I’m loving it. I know there is a lot of talk on what updates or not should be made. No doubt at some time I may comment. I am pleased to advise I was able to join a Clan in my first week. I have learned so much from the members of the Clan. Some are experienced others joined after me. Nation members on line. Of course here too. Thanks to the help from Clan members. I have an idea of what’s going on. As everyone says it’s a steep learning curve. But I’m getting there. I have progressed to a 2nd lieutenant. I’m looking forward to learning more skills and gradual progression. I thought UG was good. But this raises the bar much higher. Best wishes all. Cheers 🍻 PS. Anyone know where can buy a parrot 🦜. 😉
  3. The more battles you play the more you will learn. I also have my own ideas on how to defeat the enemy in regards to type of troops used. I am much in favour of the good old fashioned infantryman. In all my battles I probably have a higher ratio of infantry to cavalry and artillery, than others. But it works for me (most times I hope). I am always open to ideas. But feel I have a method that works for me. Regards
  4. I realize would be a mammoth task. But, (don't tell anyone). I have for the last 2 weeks been playing Naval Action. The open world is amazing ! Maybe in the future. when you have a free year or so. This could be achieved for UG. Regards
  5. Its not easy, But I try to anticipate what I will require when go back to Camp during multi day battles. Have weapons etc ready and waiting. Good luck. Regards
  6. Hi, Brilliant. Many thanks 👍 I have so far tried 2 of the tutorials. The gunnery which I passed and then sailing. But will have to try again as I did get confused when having to steer with sails with the wind on my stern but from memory had to go backwards. Many thanks. Will look to try the others. Pass the final exam in due course. Definitely will check the videos.
  7. Thank you. I have been able to have a few decent sessions this week. I attempted a couple of combat missions with mixed fortune. Well that’s how I’m looking at it ! When I reached the cross swords marker I found I was up against 2 pirate vessels with 2 gun decks. I exchanged fire a few times. During which I lost my rudder. I knew how to steer using the sails so I decided to make a run for it. Which was successful. I even picked up XP points. Second effort was against just 1 pirate ship with 2 gun decks. Same happened. I lost my rudder. So managed to escape and again gained XP points. A tactic I may well use again ! However, I must learn to protect my stern better ☺️. But enjoying it. I don’t necessarily expect to win early exchanges but the experience I am gaining is proving useful. Had some conversations when on line playing. Some real characters around. Regards
  8. I am sure at some time I will be moaning about something 😐 🍻
  9. Thanks to you all. I’m pleased to advise I have been in action for the first time. I decided to use the tutorial first. I passed the gunnery part and decided to take my cutter out to learn to handle her. By chance (I assume). In the distance I saw two ships. I used my telescope but could not from the distance make out much detail. I decided to close in and see what was going on. I again used my telescope and could make out two ships of a reasonable size. I then saw yellow flashes from one and could also see it was French. As yet unable to see who it was firing out. As I moved closer I saw it was a ship of his majesty’s Royal Navy. Both ships were 2 deckers and I could see they were engaging. Rightly or wrongly (not sure if it’s ok to do so). I decided to help my fellow countryman even if I only had a cutter. It was proving difficult to position myself to fire without the risk of hitting my own countrymen. Great luck I had just done the gunnery tutorial. I fired a ranging shot but couldn’t see where it had gone due to the smoke from my gun. I decided to move in closer. But wanted to be able to attack the French stern. I wasn’t keen on receiving a broadside ! I had now caught the attention of the Frenchman as I received some damage. Hopefully this would help my countryman. I closed and managed to fire at the stern. Despite the smoke I could see I was causing some damage. I was at least starting to help cause the Frenchman problems. With the 2 to 1 odds even if I only had a cutter. The battle went on for sometime. I was alarmed to discover how long it took me to reload ! A sharp learning curve. I spent a lot of time manoeuvring and firing the occasional broadside. Thankfully the British captain seemed to know his trade. The Frenchman started to suffer serious damage and I felt able to move in closer. Another broadside by the British captain and the Frenchman started to sit lower in the sea. The engagement was won. The British ship sailed off. I decided I needed target practice. So I stayed until the Frenchman sunk. I then sailed away feeling rather smug. Also having learned some lessons at the sharp end. What a great game ! Can’t wait till I know what I am doing 🤔. Cheers all 🍻
  10. Hi, So far gone across to Santanillas. Even picked up points for that ! Will look to move further. Cheers
  11. Thank you. I’m sure I will have lots of questions. Some no doubt will seem straight forward. It certainly is a steep learning curve. But I was aware of this when started looking into the game. So that has not put me off. Cheers 🍻
  12. Hi all, Having asked and received help on pc system required ( I have been playing UG on iMac) I have a system up and running 👍 Many thanks to you all for your help. I have just dipped my toe in the water. Spent a couple of hours. Started the tutorial. Decided to try a battle. Unfortunately server down for an hour for maintenance. No problem. It has wet my appetite. Sorry these are not meant to be lame puns. I’m sure you have heard them all ! Yes there is a lot to take in. I was aware. For me it makes it more enjoyable. In time I’m confident I will be able to hopefully do well 🤞. Just to say I am finding it brilliant and looking forward to many enjoyable hours. Best wishes to all.

  24. With regard to using points on reconnaissance. Must admit I never use points on this. What ever the enemy has I will find out at sometime during a battle. I would prefer to use points on reducing cost of weapons or better quality replacements and weapons etc. But just my own opinion. Sure others will have their own views. Best of luck. Stick with it. It’s a sharp learning curve. Most of us have been there. But suddenly it all starts to make sense. Regards
