  1. The simple fact that you can redeem a ship (or two) daily in a port, slap some medium cannons on it and go out to join the fight has immensely helped OW pvp. More so than any asinine tweak to the OW like hiding names or removing grid coordinates that these hardcore types wanted. I think most of us can agree that the most recent patch was underwhelming and perhaps the only thing keeping folks around at the moment is the redeemable ships. Personally If I were admin I'd expand on the idea a bit more and attempt to create a need for both redeemable and crafted ships in Naval Action. Redeemable ships can only be 3/5 with various wood trims, same goes for ships bought with PVP marks. If you want a gold or purple ship you gotta craft it. And only craftable ships can get into PBs. But yea, back to your original point. No ship names is stupid. Should at least give players the option to identify other ships on the water at a certain distance and maybe introduce a perk called like "Sailing Master" or something that allows you to do so.
  2. The logic was that not knowing who the other player is on the water across from you will incentivize you to attack them and find out, thus leading to more PVP battles. In my experience this has not happened, but others "claim" that is has. Just a waste of time IMO and a "patch" to fix glaring design issues. Personally, the only added improvement/feature that I've seen have a real impact in OW PvP in the 2 years I've played has been the DLC ships. People like cheap ships, low risk and easy access to PVP....who knew..
  3. I would also suggest making all ships crafted in the "neutral zone" blue or green. 1/3 slots or 2/4 slots.
  4. I like it. To reduce impact on the current game I would reduce the size to exclude the new orleans are and the zone end at the port to the left of the "L" in your map.
  5. I’m surprised ship names were hidden on the PVE server since the entire change was to “promote more pvp”
  6. 37% humidity is not 84% humidity. We have 80%+ for 9 months out of the year. Houston at least gets a break. The main problem is summer rains already raise the water table for hurricane season, which means heavy flooding. I’m sure Sir Texas can give you an earful about that.
  7. Technically it’s monsoon season here. Rains every day from about May to Sept because it’s so humid. We have our dry months and forest fires in the winter.
  8. Get on my level of heat and humidity you pusscakes. Just an average day in SWFL.
  9. We are already on the test server. Technically. I didn't ask for DLCs. The only "request" players have made for DLCs have been in the form of paints. Not premium ships or forged papers. It might not be a good idea to launch with a DLC on day 1 as customers may perceive that the full game was ready to release but you chose to take away content from the game to make more money through a paid DLC. hmmmmm My point in all this is we need to stop excusing little quirks or stuff that has yet to be fixed on "oh it's still early access". If they are already charging DLCs then they have already put their big boy pants on and assumed the role of a game ready for release.
  10. In released games you mean. Because in beta/early access testing you can usually cancel and create new characters over and over. To “test”. I’ve paid my share of the DLC tax. I’m merely saying the “early access” line being used as a blanket for all things wrong or not created in this game needs to stop. This game has 4 DLCs and it has not even been released yet. I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
  11. This is not about port battles on the east coast or multiflips. raising the BR will only be a temporary fix and in the case of shallow water ports, requin and the herc will become the ultimate screening ship and a handful of them could tag in a shallow fleet. No good. No DLC ships in PBs Ever. Current or future.
  12. This early access door swings both ways. Why do we have paid DLCs for a game that has yet to be released. Should we really have to pay extra to “test” this game from different nations?
  13. People paid for them and they are premium. Only reason. I would of preferred no DLC ships personally, but they’re here and admin already cashed the checks for them. They currently break 3 out of the 4 main sources of content in this game, I’d prefer RVR not not be one of them.
  14. Most likey this is post #200 about this, but here goes. A casual look back over the "Great Battles" thread will pretty much tell a common tale of how typically the side with more DLC ships, wins. The DLC ships are OP for their battle rating and in the case of the requin, the sail profile with pirate rig refit just makes them stupid easy to act as circle cappers and point deniers. I'm ok with DLC ships being OP on the open water. I'm not OK with them affecting the outcome of port battles. Pre - DLC we would have multiple shallow battles a week. Last week there was 1. Tonight at Jobe the pirates took 5 DLC ships into the Port battle to deny and contest circles. It worked, rather easily. Myself and Wraith occupied the southern circle with 2 requins and the french, with 2 bellonas, a herc and a MB in the circle with us, were not able to even close to sinking or demasting us. It's stupid and unfortunately bringing these ships is now necessary. The battles are boring and no longer dynamic. And this is coming from the guy who won the battle. I'm sure the french are even more frustrated. Granted they made a laundry list of mistakes in there, but they had no counter to double requins in the circles (other than bring more requins..). @admin @Ink, it's time to fix this shit before RVR dies out even more.
  15. France vs Pirates @ Jobe. Christendom commanding for Pirates / Unknown for France. Relatively easy battle. We doubled up on Troll DLC ships in the North and South Circles, Occupied 2 of their bellonas while our beefy ships sunk theirs. Neutralized their MB. Being able to bring Requins in PBs is absurdly stupid IMO. But use em while you can.
  16. Yea AI fleets generating or lowering hostility needs to be removed. While I'd personally rather farm AI fleets for the better loot, it's just too overpowered in the attackers favor. KoC is the feature breaker of NA
  17. Not sure if t his is an exploit or not, but the battle being able to close (AI battle) heavily favors the attackers in this situation and should be looked at in the future. I didn't know you could still do this to be honest.
  18. To be fair I towed all of mine, it took 2 weeks though.
  19. You’d have to sail across from Africa. Which is not an option here
  20. More tows will not increase PVP. Most players are positioned around the map with multiple ships in Freetowns to use anyway. With the admiralty connections DLC there is no reason to not have a backup bellona in a few if your ports. While convenient, another just means that players will spend a little less time moving ships around in the OW. Personally I’d restrict the current tow system to warships only and make traders sail back and forth more.
