okay, thanks for the replies. I've updated my gpu drivers now. In other games I haven't had any problems so far. GPU temperature should also be normal, so i hope it was due to my outdated gpu driver. thanks!

Lately i've been getting some really weird graphical bugs/glitches or whatever, here's an example: Please don't tell me that's my GPU dying because it's a relatively new one, a gtx1070 (playing on low graphics because I had just left a big battle and usually lower the graphics in those because I prefer FPS over graphics, get 90+ fps on ultra in small battles) Anyone know what the heck that might be? Some secret party mode?

Did the same, except i didnt add speed trim module but added studding sails to both and light carriages. Regional speed topspeed 14.5 knots Regional pirate refit topspeed 15 knots :)

PvP doesn't cost that much money as you could simply go hunting in capped 1 dura ships or whatever. Don't necessarily need a fancy golden ship with all golden mods, it helps but it's NOT what leads you to victory, when it comes to player skills. When I ranked up to the last rank, I didn't know what to do at first. Rageboarded some AI 1st rates for gold, but the game got boring doing only that. Then I asked myself if I REALLY had to be in 1st rates all the time (as I just ranked up to Rear Admiral and could finally crew them), decided I could hop in smaller ships again for a change and found out that they were massively more fun (for me, that is). Now I pretty much spend all of my playtime in smaller ships / frigates looking for targets in the OW, have had much fun doing that Can't remember the last time I was in a 1st rate. lol

Are you playing on the PvE server? because if not, there are also player targets Much more fun to see them raging than capping ai traders.

Not true. You are assuming EVERYONE prefers huge SoL fights, which is simply not true. Many (like myself) prefer privateering in lower class ships, maybe frigates. Those can be a lot of fun too, as you can actually turn and it doesnt just come down to which side has the better planking mods to buff HP etc.

most ive gotten was 208 off an indiaman in my surp or 178 off a trinc in 1 broadside. Next patch they're adding a 'brace' command so crew losses on stern rakes should be significantly lower.

Mine starts with leaving La Désirade in my surp, passing Camp Du Roy, visiting the french capital, hope for some lone traders, have a look at the silver place Castries, make a loop around that island, head back north, scout around, back to Désirade, group up with someone and repeat =)

A friend of mine and me were sailing around in french waters and looking for some trouble. We did find a few missions that were open (since pve missions are now open for 30 min), but to our surprise (surprise is on our side, ) we were only able to join the french side. Shouldn't we also be able to join the pirate side? Or are we not supposed to be able to do that because that's acting as some sort of protection for newer players that don't get screwed over with the new mission system that stay open for 30 minutes?

Ships built in free ports dont get any regional bonusses as they're not part of regions, right?

when someone surrenders instantly without you doing at least 5% damage (I think), you won't get the kill on him and therefore also not the ship in the end. You'd have to sail to his ship and assign crew.
