Port Battle Wind Dynamics
Anolytic replied to Taurus454's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Pssst. It's what Danish PvP1 fleet uses too. For Captains who know how to tank I build Stiffness ships and for players with unknown skill level I give them a Build Strength ship captured off a Brit. -
Under the circumstances developers made the right decision. The alternative was that the Eastern alliance players would keep leaving the game because any gains and victories were nullified, or attempted to be nullified, but night-flips. Any strategic port we captured we could not expect to hold because of night-flips. Any regional bonuses we take or defend could be taken from us defenceless at any time unless 25 of us decided to sacrifice sleep on the same night. They are just pixels, but they are the pixels that allow us to build competitive ships. They are the pixels that give meaning to conquest. And they are the pixels that sustain already underpopulated and outmanned nations.

Port Battle Wind Dynamics

OW wind rotates 360 degrees in 48 minutes afaik. The moment that the PB pops up the wind in the PB will be the same direction as in OW. The wind will then be static for 20 min (like redii said) before starting to move randomly one direction or the other. -
Developers should publish a list of all those captains who used this exploit prior to its publication. A lot of false accusations have been thrown around to cast suspicion on enemies and to draw attention away from those who actually were cheating. A list would clear the names of those who have been falsely accused.

I lost 1 dura on a ship that I escaped from battle, + the loot that was in the hold of that ship. I have F11'd it (player name Strategist). 3 pirates ganked me in the rookie zone. I switched from my main ship and sent it away from the battle by asking it to retreat. The ship escaped and I was later captured. After the battle my ship had 1 less dura and no loot in the hold. A ship that didn't sink or get captured should not loose a dura or any items from its hold. Edit: Counting fleet ships I lost 3 duras in that battle even though I escaped 1 ship, 1 was captured and 1 surrendered. So I should only have lost 2 dura. Presumably my gankers got the loot despite the fact that they let the ship holding it escape.

PvE vs PvP for the next Release
Anolytic replied to Old_DAT's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
You've misunderstood. They're doing away with the PvE server, but instead there will be PvE-only zones on the other servers. You will still have a large area to enjoy PvE content uninterrupted. -
Limited economy slots - coming soon

Sounds interesting, but if this is not well balanced then it will force RvR on every captain which is not desirable. It will enrich the RvR players and make every other player even more dependent on their nation's RvR players. I also fear that this will either make the map static or make loosing ports too devastating. Conquest should be dynamic, not static. Ports should be conquered every week and rotate back and forth between nations. The map is already too static, and if you loose a port, be it to zerging, night-flips, dayflips or just mistakes that sometimes happens, then it is all but impossible to regain the ports. To be honest my initial thought is that this is a bad idea, although I am of course willing to test it.- 181 replies

Port Battle Wind Dynamics
Anolytic replied to Taurus454's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Did you enter the PB at the moment that it started? The wind freezes in the PB instance at the moment the PB opens up. If you stay in OW the wind will keep moving there, but not inside the PB. -
That was my initial assumption, but first of all I was one of the last ones to leave to open sea, and we discussed it after the battle and I had captains right next to me who were not invulnerable and who saw ships get dragged around them on all sides and yet did not get dragged themselves.
-
Then, considering the broken screening and the vast numbers advantage in favour of the Western Alliance, let's also agree to stop screening port battles apart from those in close proximity to capitals and maybe a limited number of strategic ports for each nation. Night-flips for day-flips. and log-off for screening.

In my experience with the bug that was not the case. Beginning of this video. We were at least 25 in OW - without invulnerability or anything to affect the tag. 18 of our players got dragged. The taggers had a BR of 2230, so couldn't have dragged 25 1st rates. The 18 ships that did get dragged had a BR of 9860, so right about 5 times that of the taggers. But there were ships around me both in front and beside me, that definitely were within the tag circle, definitely weren't invulnerable, and whose BR should have been calculated to the equation to make the tag fail. Instead only part of our fleet was dragged into battle.
-
If the fleet that's tagging doesn't have enough BR to drag the whole fleet within the tag circle, that shouldn't allow the tagger to just selectively drag and split the enemy fleet, leaving the rest of the fleet to get ganked. There's something wrong with the system as it is now.

You mean so that nations without full timezone coverage cannot even flip a port to set up attacks?

This happened to us too, only without any hint of a 25 player limit. When we defended Basse-Terre (not the last time, but the time before that) our defense fleet sailed out of port to join the PB. At least 25 of us were in OW and we all had been for more than 20 seconds. One first rate was tagged by a small offensive screening fleet of frigates and about 15 1st rates were dragged into battle. The frigates had almost exactly 1/5th of the BR of the ships that they dragged. But they should not have been able to drag anyone since we were more ships around than what was dragged. I had a clan mate in front of me and one right next to me. Both had been in OW a few seconds longer than me and definitely weren't invulnerable anymore. And yet I was dragged and they weren't, even though they were between me and the tagging ship.

Sorry. I mixed up your nickname with somebody else.

Brits/US has also said that if we attack US ports at all they will continue to night-flip us. Previously they said that they would continue to night-flip until they got back Savannah. After that they said that they would continue to night-flip unless we left alone the whole of Bahamas and Florida coast. Before that they said they were night-flipping only because of a broken treaty that wasn't broken. They also threatened with night-flips because they said that we threatened them. Clearly the US don't need night-flips. Let's have split servers now. Night-flips are just something they do as threats and "revenge"... It's like dealing with Donald Trump. He said he would release his tax returns when Obama released his birth certificate...

Your outpost is in an enemy port. You can only be teleported to friendly ports, meaning ports your alliance owns or freetowns. If you have an outpost in an enemy port you can only get there by sailing there with smuggler tag enabled on a trader ship.
