Tools to make PvP events more enjoyable
Anolytic replied to Liq's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Not sure about direction to closest enemy. For me that would kill the immersion, but a counter telling how many players in the PvP event circle would be good. -
I think this is a great concept to explore. Something absolutely worth testing in alpha. I absolutely think that XP loss should be part of it. Not to a crippling degree, but enough that it is felt. For one thing this would reintroduce grinding to the endgame content, without making it a bore, and also while allowing to get rid of the horrible officer lives feature that are just irritating. A few points: You cannot put bounty on players with 150max crew or less. 1 week (or something) cooldown on bounties on a player - so they cannot get "serial-demoted". XP loss based on bounty size - i.e 1 mill bounty = 25 % XP loss from current rank, so from Rear Admiral bounty target would be demoted to Commodore with 60k/80k XP towards Rear Admiral again. 10 mill bounty would be 100% XP loss from current rank, so Rear Admiral would be back to Commodore with 0 XP, Someone who just hit Commodore would be back to Flag Captain with 0XP towards next rank and so on. Someone half way to Rear Admiral would after being sunk be back to half way to Commodore level. Bounty can be collected only in certain situations. Not in PBs for instance. And ganks pay out less and give less XP loss maybe based on how many gankers.

Bring back random elements to crafting
Anolytic replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
When they remove gold reward for damage that will help a lot I think. Also decrease the amount of resources available to be harvested from buildings per day could help a bit. I don't think RNG is something that we need back, but we definitely need money sinks. -
2 Questions....Maybe 3...or
Anolytic replied to Tacticus's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
The reason why we don't get to keep our gold and they probably won't give free money to everybody is because the wipe is happening in order to test the new economy. Regarding nationality, I imagine that you keep it - unless they wipe the servers so clean that we will all have to recreate our characters with only the level and crafting XP that is stored on Steam, something that would actually make sense to reduce the clutter. If they don't do that, you'll still be able to change nation, because right after the server wipe you will have nothing except your new redeemables that could be lost by recreating/rerolling your character. -
No. Only 4-5 people grinding missions.

Please only launch the patch when ready to launch the patch. Waiting patiently for April 20th -
The current system for allowing grinding players to enter port battles 2 minutes before other is not working as it should. The points appear to be based on a percentage of the total hostility points generated for that region since the last port battle. This creates some really odd situations. In the case of Bermuda, which the brits use as a safe PvE grinding area, the hostility points generated in total will reach an enormous number. This means that when a port battle is set, the number of points needed to enter 2 minutes early is ridiculous. For Bermuda it was 14 208. The 4-5 players that grinded this PB had 3-5k hostility points each and were therefore reasonably expecting to be able to enter the PB 2 minutes early. Fortunately we were able to scout the number of points needed before anyone made that mistake. In the case of other ports, where less grinding has occured since last PB, as little as 2 points may be needed to enter the PB early. Morgan's Bluff was mainly grinded by one player solo:

Make Clan Tags 6 letters instead of 5 letters
Anolytic replied to z4ys's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
O mercy divine, O couldst Thou incline, My God, to become such an infant as mine? What wonder of grace: The Ancient of Days Is found in the likeness of Adam’s frail race! He comes from on high, who fashioned the sky, And meekly vouchsafes in a manger to lie; Our God ever blest, with oxen doth rest, Is nursed by His creature and hangs at the breast. So heavenly-mild, His innocence smiled, No wonder the mother would worship the Child, The angels she knew had worshipped Him, too, And still they confess adoration His due. On Jesus’ face, with eager amaze, And pleasure ecstatic the cherubim gaze; Their newly born King, transported they sing, And Heaven and earth with the triumph doth ring. The shepherds behold Him, the promised of old, By angels attended, by prophets foretold; The wise men adore now, and bring Him their store, The rich are permitted to follow the poor. To the inn they repair, to see the young Heir; The inn is a palace, for Jesus is there! Who now would be great, and not rather wait On Jesus their Lord in His humble estate? Like Him would I be, my Master I see In a stable; a manger shall satisfy me; And here will I lie, till raised up on high, With Him on the cross I recover the sky. -

At the battle for Bermuda there were no less than 2 alts attempting to grief the PB fleets. One succeeded. Please investigate and punish these two accounts for alt abuse: brightlight [NAP]MorgotHola With our scouts we managed to pick up the first one and then screen him out of the port battle ourselves. The second one we were unaware of and he managed to join the Port Battle from far away only to sail into the fort fire and get killed. Both accounts are low level. One is French, the other Spanish. Both were in Mortar brigs. Both pretended like noobs but are clearly players with some experience with the game. We contacted devs with our suspicions about the French account prior to the PB. The case against brightlight: The player was 1 day old at the time of the PB. It was created after the Port Battle for Bermuda was even generated… No player sails all the way to Bermuda on his second day - in a mortar brig. Please also look into who traded him the Mortar Brig or any gold he spent to buy it. The player was spotted sailing up earlier in the day. The player sailed to the south of the port and logged off near the edge of the circle, showing forethought and malice, by indicating knowledge of the PB system, PB entry and PB layout that no 1 day old player would have. The player was told not to enter the port battle, and answered in the affirmative. Since we obviously didn’t trust his word, we dispatched a screener of our own to keep brightlight from sabotaging the PB. Just as the PB started he entered open world. This screenshot is from ca. 1:30 minute after the PB started when he was caught into battle, right before he would have been able to enter the PB. (original picture with timestamp can be submitted to devs if necessary) The case against MargotHola: MargotHola is another low level player who decided to make the sail all the way from La Habana to Bermuda to sabotage a PB. He was one of the first players to join the PB, despite us joining immediately when the 2 minute timer was up. I use a stop watch to time our entry to Port Battles, so the alt must have been sitting in OW, ready to enter the PB as soon as it was open to anyone without hostility, and intent on clicking fast to be able to get into the PB. The alt joined really far away from the port, in an illogical spot, and he sailed into the fort fire to get killed by it later in the battle. The alt ignored requests to come on Teamspeak, but answered some messages in game-chat. He told that there had been a request in chat for a mortar brig to Bermuda - an obvious lie. He also makes basic grammar mistakes in his answers indicating that he is probably using Google Translate in order to answer only in Spanish. Video of the battle: (comments about the alts on teamspeak during battle should be ignored as made in affect, I take it for granted that the enemy port battle fleet was unaware and unconnected to the sabotage)

[VLTRA] Non Terrae Plus Ultra [ESPAÑA] [PVP-EU]
Anolytic replied to Pablo Frias's topic in Caribbean server guild recruitment
Fighting beside VLTRA is always a pleasure and never boring. RDNN will always be ready to lend a hand to our brothers in VLTRA. -
Check the colour coding on the right hand side. Danmark-Norge was allied to France during the Napoleonic Wars.

All of the Commonwealth countries have the same monarch, yet Canada is no longer part of Great Britain. So I defer to @Bearwall. Enough off topic.

RDNN is a global clan, and we were hoping at length for a sustainable global server. While our clan will continue to exist on both servers, the efforts and gameplay of most of our players will in all likelihood be focused on the EU server where we will find friends and enemies both mutually respectful. RDNN's goal will always be to seek the most skilled enemies and the most stable friends. We feel reassured that we will find this on the new EU server. Our hope is to see a fresh start to diplomacy and a courteous tone even amongst enemies. The current timezone imbalance was easily predictable. However, our efforts to preempt this issue by social means already 4-5 months ago, and all subsequent repeated attempts, were blankly rejected. The events of the last few months, along with the remarks towards the French in this very topic, shows us that leaving the global server is the right choice. Certainly the insults and hostility displayed here would change nobody’s mind about leaving. The RDNN-hosted Danish National Teamspeak (na.danmarknorge.org) will remain open to all clans and all players for Danmark-Norge regardless of server. I for one expect to continue to be present on both servers. We hope that by the time of game release, developers will have found a sustainable solution to balance a global server.

Eagerness and overconfidence lead many a captain too far into the fire of the towers and to be blown against the shores where they or their attempted rescuers were boarded, but in the end we still managed to turn the fight back in our favour and secure a victory.

We have some very dedicated captains in our fleet, that are willing to stay up nights and to defend in hopes that their friends will not get too frustrated with the game and stop playing. Still we've lost Morgan's Bluff, Remidos, Islamorada, Gasparilla to night-flips recently, and we've defended even more than that. Cumana, Puerto de Espana. Les Cayes was boycotted few weeks ago, but some french clans + me decided to defy the decision and put up a suicide 22 player defence that kept turned away 25 attackers. The Western Alliance has been perfectly able to defend with 25 every port in Bahamas. We've put the recent attacks in Bahamas as late as we could fit between other activities. I grinded Morgan's Bluff almost singlehandedly and the PB was set 1 mission earlier than I anticipated, but it is still after 17 server time. But save for the too early attack on Cumana we win or loose against a full 25 player defence, not against empty ports or enemies that are tired out of their minds. We fight hard for every port we gain. If you loose a valuable port or want to take one you just show up in the middle of the night with a 50/50 chance to take it undefended, which is all you can ever hope to do anyway. Too little, too late. I came there with a fairly open mind, but it was clear that we could not find enough common ground. We warned you in November/Desember that US were shooting yourselves in the foot by your night-flips. You didn't want to listen or negotiate then or any of the subsequent approaches we made. Now that the writing is on the wall you suddenly want to negotiate and make us out to be the bad guys. Nice try... What griefing can you possibly accuse us of?
