Open Poland to All Privateers
Sir Texas Sir replied to Powderhorn's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Are we can split the Pirates into two factions. Privateers and Pirates/Outlaws. Privateers will be made up of any one that wants to not fly a pirate flag but they get the option to fly Prussia, Russia, Poland, and any other nation that doesn't have a core faction flags and just do there thing in the OW. Those that want to play pirates can choose the Outlaws/Pirates part by flying the black. They all work out of free town and maybe captured ports of there clans. Mort becomes a neutral port with the zone being neutral for all to use. Along with above about pirates and what @Christendom I would combine GB and US. Let the US coast be there second zone like the french and spain has. If you want to fly any of the flags for US or GB you can from the DLC so that way clans can pick if they are US priavteers or members of the Royal Navy. I would take Dane and Swedes and either add them to the Privateers or make them part of DUTCHl with the same options as how US/GB is. Yes I know they weren't in an alliance but they really didn't have a big influence in this area other than mainly merchant ships. Though I think they would would work better in the Privateer faction along with the Russians, Prussians and Poland. Ok before folks say well Privateers will just take over the whole map. See that is where they are diffrent from Pirates/Outlaws and other nations. They can't capture ports. It's an OW only faction for OW PvP/PvE. If you want to be part of RvR you need to be part of the main core nations: Spain, French, GB/US, Dutch.....this will give the MAIN RVR players 4 factions to fight over ports with and not have so many spread out. If you want to just play in OW you can still be part of one of these four or you can join the privateers. Privateers can't capture ports but they can join any battle on either side even if another privateer started it. While Outlaws/Pirates will get FFA battles back and can attack each other along with any one else can attack them. If these two factions where to be allowed to RvR they should only be able to claim one port per clan to make a base not take over the whole map. This will allow for clan bases to be set up but not control the whole map, leave that to the four core nations than. -
I think we still need a better server location for the global server that gives a good all around better ping for all players before we are going to see anything like a zerg of players. Have you seen the ping that SEA/AU players have to deal with? Even worse the poor guys behind the Chinese firewall?

and I understand we do need a certain bit of balance in game to make it not to easy for players. Though the bottom line comes down to if we don't get the mast majority of the player base back or keep new players which make up mainly of casuals and new players we will just be right back to where we are now with dead servers.

Game inbalances or cheating?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Captain Mulec's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I actually liked it when they changed it back to where a mast hit actually meant a pen. Than a bunch of folks complained (prob like the same half dozen that do every time) and it got changed back. I'm sorry if they where that good to mast snipe you befere, listing hits that actually pen wasn't going to change that, they are still going to demast you. I never went off the hit mark any way, you can normally tell a pen by the way it hit the mast and send splinter, the cloud gets a bit bigger right before you snap them too. Things like this is what we look at not the hit count, but it would help the casuals and new players. Us vets all ready know how to do it without the counter so that shouldn't matter. -
Admiralty – PVP Rewards tab is redundant
Sir Texas Sir replied to a topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Maybe save that slot for RvR rewords that you can only buy with VM's maybe? -
Yah giving the ship could cause issues as than folks would know what to grab to counter instead of using word of mouth and such. Maybe something like above with color coding of the letters. The rank will let you know if some one is seal clubbing or alt farming if it pops up they killed a LT every hour on the hour at that port than they are prob alt farming. Unless they are sitting out side a capital port than just seal clubbing. That should be enough name and shaming. The issue is color for all nations,, we have way to many nations where a good chunk of them could and should be taken out of the game or combined into one nation (remember the old outlaw and normal pirates. Maybe do outlaws[pirates] and privateers. Give them hard core rules and the choice of flags to run....than just have the other core nations: Spain, French, Great Britian (US can be merged with this), Dutch (Dane/Swede), Pirates/Privateers (This would be Pirates, Poland, Russia, Prussian). For the groups clans can pick what nation flag they want. So like say GB/US clan that leans toward US can pick US flags for there ports or GB flags, but as a nation as a whole all ports count as the same nation. The same with the Ducht/Dane/Sweds. It all counts as one nation, but the clans of that nation can pick the flags it supports. This will combine it into less nations, but still let folks keep there national pride for those that want to play in certain nations.

RvR has other issues that need to be fixed before it will perk interst in players to do it. Need some working like on how to get better hostility grind/flip ports than what we have now. Those things will improve RvR. My point is if some one wanted VM's they have a lot of useless empty ports without timers that they can flip and take. Why do you think we took all of North Bahama back when us took and held it? It was to allow players in shallow water ports which you can get the most guys into, to get VM's I think at that time US had like 10 ports with only three being important and the other 7 had no timers and was mostly shallow water ports that we actually wanted folks to flip to give us fights to pratice in. It also allowed for new faces to get VM's when they show up to defend the port and not just the same guys that did so to other ports. When I filled those PB's it was pretty much first come and your on the list. Until. player numbers are up and they make some more changes to RvR we won't see a lot of PB's cause we just don't have the numbers right now for the ports we do have. Honestly though we prob seem the most ports changed hands in the last few months than in a long time cause of dead clans dropping ports and folks flipping them. Dubs are easy to get, so why not allow those that do port battles a means to use them? That and not every one wants SOL's. I have so many ships stocked up that I have over 200 VM"s cause of all the port battles i Had been in over the last year. I stocked up on permits and don't need any more right now as did most of my clan. Other than the Doubloon limit we can easly replace 1st rates right now with how the system is, btu that is also cause we have so much crap stocked up on the old system. Wipe every thing and I bet you those few doubloons wouldn't mean much. Oh and it was only 2000 doubloons to buy a VM, I can get that with some RNG luck and 2 trade ships with doubloons on them so it's not going to change the balance at all. You only get one VM a week (depending on how many PB's you been too). You can get 2K doubloons easly by doing patrol or hitting trade ships so stop making it sound like it's flooding the market. It just gives folk anouther means to get them. Doubloons should not be some super rare thing that only elites have, it needs to flow so all can get them. The more doubloons you have the more folks will use them to buy stuff and trade for. By the way making it easier for casuals get more players in the game, making a hardcore game...well that is how we get dead servers.
-
Dude there is what like 300 *not correct number* of ports out there so don't say the top nations will get ports. Any one can go capture and useless port that doesn't have a timer and get VM's from it. This will make small clans actually fight over none important ports cause they will want to get there own VM's too. If any thing gets wiped it should be every thing econ related. Though @admin thanks for taking for ever to do this, VM other than for permits has been pretty much useless....but up till this patch no one bought them cause they could just buy them with doubloons for cheap (which is ok on PvE server). VM's need to have a value and something other than SOL permits to buy with them. I still think we should be able to trade them in for DOUBLOONS, so folks can have another means to get doubloons in game. Are maybe some special paints or flags you can only get with VM's.

When we first got the labor offices you can make LC at I notice the ports where a lot of the main slave trade hubs of that time. -
OP the biggest problem I see here is your AI fleet was very weak wood like as was you. Teak/Teak is a very poor option to grind AI. Teak/Wo only if you have planking or HP mods on it (since fleets can't use skill knowledge). Remember that pretty much all guns pen under 250m's (unless your stupid insane angled) so they are going to pen almost every broad side against you. Hin t the reason your Dianna went down so fast. You should of keep that in the distance and maybe shot sales. Oh and just for the record, AI steal XP and such from you. So you using a bunch of AI just cute your own XP gains to 1/3 of what you should of gotten, not to mention fleet AI's are pretty stopid and don't use repairs. If anything you should of had a ship the same tier as you and only that one ship not a bunch of them. They tend to be a major crush too when folks get so use to using them against AI and than get into a real PvP fight and all they do is harm you (your short Combat Perks cause of that extra fleet you have). Also don't use special cannons on AI, they are stupid and tend to not know how to range them so they waiste shots (if you got them all Carros). It's best to just load them with Mediums unless it's a ship you will use (like switching from Trade ship to your AI in combat if you get tagged). I think AI are fine as they are other than as listed above the stupid turn rates and snipe angel shooting they do some times. As many vets think they are extremely easy though I know a lot of casuals (I play US after all) that have a hard time fighting them. I seen guys that are RA been playing for years get handed there arse in a hostility mission against 1st rates cause they don't know how to protect there ships or when to fall back and repair. I broken a lot of guys from using AI in battles in US that use to depend on them all the time. Many of them where guys I use to fight and kill all the time on GLOBAL/PvP2 so I came in with a learning/teaching attitude to help them and a good number of the older guys listened and actually learned (can't go in screaming and yelling at them like Rax and others did). So I'll say take your time in those AI battles, don't go in with soft ships (teak teak use to be a PvP ship, now it's only for special builds. Stay to the harder tank builds for grinding. Take less fleets and more combat perks. Speaking of such what was the rest of your perks other than Fleet 1&2?

No more silent promotions
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sea Archer's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Though I can see putting it in Clan chat so your clan mates know you ranked up and can help you into a new ship or what not. I always thought it would be good to have a message like, "Return to port to receive your new rank from Admiralty." While field promotions where a thing, they normally happen during battles and having to replace some injured or killed, most of the promotions where things where you return to base to receive them. -
Free ports must drop repairs
Sir Texas Sir replied to dafftan's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You know you don't have to go to all of them........ 98% of them don't have repairs cause 98% of the game doesn't play right now. I know a lot of guys that use to stock up those ports but aren't playing right now. They prob won't be back until the wipe and release of the game either. So maybe the few die hards left playing should learn how to craft there own (if really is cheap now) and stop complaining so much. -
Le Req with carros?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Farrago's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Remember that this is the guy that is very well known for doing nothing but camping KPR in a LRQ and killing noobs and casuals. I'm sure in all those lovely victims of his he gain some sort of experience. I'm sure he might of been able to kill a LRQ with a prince. Than remember after all I did demast a Herc with 6 pb Med on a Trader Brig. The Herc player was so bad that if I didn't have a loaded down ship I would of prob after that turned and finished him off, but the cargo and the fact he had two AI snows (killing my other two trader brigs, sinking not capturing). I'm sure in all his great fights he's had his fair share of poor players that he was able to do such and such with. If it wasn't for those charts on kills I would say trolling, but he seems pretty dang good at killing noobs and casuals around KPR area from what I seen in combat news over the past year. -
But we don’t have open world tow any more last I checked but yah that would work if we still have it.

doesn't work it's a deep water ship.

Is this game insane???
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sir Max Magic's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
CliCK EXIT BATTLE......look around and see no one. Than click leave game. Decide if you want to leave game open for 2 mins or just log out while ship sits in OW for 2 mins. IF it's all clear you prob not going to get tagged so it's ok to just leave. If it's not clear point ship opposite direction and make a run for it. Really are you that stupid you can't figure out simple game mechanics which out bring up alts? If he got tagged he wasn't in safe waters to start with. This game is not made for folks that just want to pop in and pop out. If you want to do that than go to some far away port and green zones and hide from most other players. For him to have been tagged he was in an area that others traveld in or it was just dumb blind luck like in the example I ran into above in the middle of no where (I was going from Bermuda to US coast line). -
Is this game insane???
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sir Max Magic's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I'm kinda wondering if there was more to this story. @Sir Max Magic can you give us a little more details. As stated there is a 2 min window after battles your kicked out and in the OW until your ship is logged out. It's not even a full 2 mins that you an get tagged cause you still have the invincibility for leaving the battle and the no attack timer so they only really have like a 1.5 window to tag you. Where you in Enemy waters? Was this a PvP Battle you just finished so there might of been some revenge ships out side waiting to catch you (most likely if your in enemy waters). Where you in the middle of no where I tagged some one like this once, he was AFK logging out and I tagged him with my Indianman (he had one too). No resistance and I notice no guns but ships was fully loaded with supplies. As stated above there is game mechanics made cause of abuse of players using simple mechanics that we would think is very user friendly. Sounds like you didn't check if it was clear out side and just assumed you be able to log out in battle safely. Take it as a learning experience always check out side before you log out. 2 mins is still 2 mins. As for having to go suddenly in real life I some times with if your ran the battle out for the full hour and half you should get a longer invisibility or chance to log out safely. I been retagged so many times that I had several battles run out for 3-5 hours. Some with where I had to go I just said hello kitty it and surrender, some had told the other person and they let me go. Other times most the chasing party gave up and I was able to turn and fight one or two (not the half dozen chasing me from start). It's part of the game, remember every thing can be replaced. -

I have it all ready on one account, I don't really care to unlock it on all my accounts. So they will be going over to the guy that all ready has 3 slots open on it. -

Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
On PvP I'm all ready at like 27 ships (think I need one more unlock to make it max 30) and most my accounts are full of ships cause some one posted to make econ stuff into ships, mods and repairs for this last patch. That and many of thoe ships where clan stock piles so we wouldn't be without a ship if we lost some. If the market wasn't so dead I would post a lot of them up for sale. Might have to start sending them over to free town areas around the zones and do so. I mean who knows when the next wipe or release will be.....#soon. -

Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
On PvE I thought I got 130, but than logged in another char and got 30 on that one. I normally check over there when new redeemables come out so if i mess up on PvP it won't be so bad. 30 is plenty enough for every one and some of us have more than one account. -
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
And it's only 30 Poods this time so really only enough to man one ship. Kinda like it staying a christmas thing and random drop in some ports. We do get 2 of the mast though. Kinda wish the Christian was a note you could use later cause of fact is I got to many ships in docks right now lol -
Honestly we should of had half a dozen wipes over time, but to many folks would get upset cause they forget we are testing a game in development. I just can't see us properly testing the econ system while folks are all ready sitting on tons of resources from an older system. This is why I said a soft wipe. We don't need to wipe rank and ships as we have tested that stuff, what we need to wipe is econ stuff so econ can be properly tested. Hell can even keep the ports the same as we aren't testing RvR and well it's dead any way. Than when ever some time next year or the one after they are ready to release we will have the full wipe and clean slate. Though right now we should take advantage of the low numbers and do a wipe and get the game moving forward. Localization is getting knocked out pretty fast by players so that can be easly finished up in a short time. So what is left getting the last of the core mechanics worked out as most of that is done. It's basicly about time for use to move into a beta status and polish the game up for release.
