WASA why so over powered?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sea Fox's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
This is why I'm more for a BR change and than buff the old 4th rates back to there old pre nerf stats is a better way to balance the game. Most the ones that want to nerf it to death got owned by a good player and just think it's OP. We took one 1vs 1 with a Bellona last night so folks saying a Bellona has no chance prob don't know how to sail there ships. Was the guy a good sailor? I would say he was average, but our Bellona is a pretty good hand. Demasted and boarded him three times before he could beat him and here is the kicker. The Bellona was speed built compared to a kinda tanky Wasa. He used his speed to keep angle shots upon his hull and to take adavantage of the wind/leeway and demast the Wasa. To be honest I think the only reason it's some what OP is cause of the skill of many that play it. Not truely cause of it's stats. -
Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Bring smaller ships, bring mortar brigs. Have fun shooting at the guys that get beached. Times of bringing the biggest baddest ship are over with, not to mention with the BR you don't have to stuff a bunch of 1st rates into a port battle any more you can bring other things. Control the wind and learn how to use it is going to be even more important in battles. -
We where talking about this last night on TS that a lot of guys jump the gun about new patches and changes and even the game it self haven't even logged in and tried things out. Even worse they are going off what a friend told them. I went through a lot of the steam reviews and found a lot of negative reviews where things like this. Folks jumping in thinking this is a finished game or expecting something like NA:L and than writing a bad review about a little part of the game. While still giving a bad review many of them speak about the really fun great things too. Why make it a negative if there was good things too? To many folks just seem to want to hate and crap on things they don't understand. I'll be honest it's prob good some folks stop playing, maybe they will come back later and find a game they love. Some folks are not cut out to do beta or alpha testing cause they get to attached to things and don't like changes as things move along. Right now I love the new mechanics, do I think they need tweaking? Oh yah a lot of tweaking but they are heading more and more in the right direction. I also understand other things won't be worked on until the core of the game is done. Maybe that will be some real pirate mechanics, but instead of complaining I moved to another nation to test out the new no capital nations and play something different.

Abusing RvR System
Sir Texas Sir replied to PIerrick de Badas's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I think abandon ports should cost you the same as loosing it to any other nation. That way you will be sure to watch after clans that are getting low on funds or about to jump ship. Than again I also think that you should be able to give ports to other clans in your own nations. Say my clan can't support a port, but your can and we are both in the same nation. I can gift the port to your clan and let you take it over. Though that can also open up a lot more abuse of ports too by certain larger clans/nations. -

Remember GLOBAL before the merge? The only reason GB was in the lead is cause it could suck up all the neutral ports faster than we could captured actual ports off them. They shouldn't get points for neutral ports true, it should be only ports that have been fought over from other players. The largest nation can out cap another nation as long as there is neutral ports. Something more limted on the new server though cause there are a lot more players. Hell GB is trying to do it right now grabbing up the old Prussian ports. It just means that the more they have the more spread out they are and the more weaker they become. Fought this war many a times in the past lol -

Actually when you abandon a port you loose the 1-3 points the port is worth for owning it. This is what you loose or gain along with the capture/lost points too. So in reality you actually loose 3 points on a lost port battle and gain 2 points for each capture ports. -

WASA why so over powered?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sea Fox's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
NOt sure as that was part of Thony's post, but I think he was talking about RAZED ships where they took a SOL and removed it's top deck to make a 4/5th rate. Indefatigable is one of these ships. Oh about 200 years of design changes apparently. LOL -
WASA why so over powered?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sea Fox's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Why would she tip over, if you look at many of the US SOL's they all had 32's on multi decks and didn't have an issue. I actually would love to see one US SOL in game that has dual decks of 32's, but most fall right out of the time line. The Wasa was actually designed to have a low center of gravity so it could carry the more heavy guns than normal for a ship of it's size. If we all want to be more accurate we should remove 42's from all ships except the Victory and put only 36's on the other 2nd and 1st rates that actually carried them. -
I know the Aggy has a bit of a weak bow compared to some others. The Wasa does too. Connie I haven't rammed many since I started using it again to test this out. I know the H Rattler and Prince are very weak brows to, that is why we bring Navy Brigs to port battle to bull dose through them and break bows in fights.

Other released EU games though I get about 85 ping and almost never lag, we have to remember those servers tend to be in the UK and France too. This one is in Germany so it's like the EU guys going to a West Coast US server and have to got through country infrastructure. Though it would be nice upon release if they stay with one server for the main group move it some where for a better global ping for all. I have notice my ping since the merge has gone from 135-148 in the past to around 120-128. Though I get dropped every once in a while. Not even an AFK boot type of drop just suddenly loose connection. It's more rare then when I use to get the ping spikes though. Luckly it's been when I was in ports too other than one time at sea but not in combat. I can live with the normal ping, it's these random drops or spikes that don't seem good.

Getting a first rate in PVE
Sir Texas Sir replied to Micromagos's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Yah I don't get all the butt hurt cause there is always a means to get something. Hell I have over 10 1st rates in redeemables right now. If things get hard up I can easily sale a few of those to folks that aren't PvP/RvR players or trade them for hard to get PvE content drops. Remember a lot of PvP usefull content is locked behind PvE so this now gives the PvP/RvR guys something to trade with the PvE guys. @admin you can still get the 1st rates a notes in epic event chest right? -
Leeway warning! Important!
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Ya'll keep doing what your doing. I mean I might bitch and scream at times, but I got my money worth on all my accounts way long time ago. I mean I got around 4-7K hours on this game in more than one account so your doing something right. Though the more recent changes have been towards a very good direction and they are keeping me and others happy. There will always be folks that won't be happy and just want to hate on every thing. That is why I think you should add one more rule to the forum rules about none players trolling the folks that still play. Sorry if you stop playing the game than shut up and let the rest of us enjoy it. No reason to stick around and continue to be negative cause you didn't get your way or the game you wanted. It's the Devs game and as you have said many a times, "We build this game for us."- 187 replies

Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Some of the folks in this game blow my mind. I remember we got a copy of a port battle recording of the other nation we just did a port battle with (US if any one wants to know). I was listening to it and they mention how I brought my iron wood ships no one could pen (LO, Stiffness, Hull build Aggy's and Victs) and how I could always pen them and they couldn't pen me (DOUBLE Charge and learning to angle your ship when fired upon). Than near the end they mention about getting DC in battle and one guy says he always used a VNP to get into game so they can't dedos him and use lag switch on him. DO THESE GUYS EVEN KNOW WHAT A LAG SWITCH IS. I mean we where cracking up so much how these guy used every excuse as to why they lost the fight other than actual fact they brought store bought ships to a port battle. They where in three different team speaks and couldn't organized crap and than last they are using other ways into the game than direct connect and wonder why they lag out or get DCed. When most the time they get beat by folks that learn the game, learn the mechanics and than use the to the best of there teams abilities. This is also why we have said things in Global Chat about using our pirate hacks, you have to activate them with the pray button (yes folks thought we actually had pirate hacks). Never believe anything I say in Global chat when I'm trolling you, cause that exactly what I'm doing. It's like when I had a BUCC the day after wipe. I said I had a buck in my pocket and we went with that as a joke that I had the ship. Folks actually thought my clan had Buccs and Victory's the day of the wipe. Yes I had a 3rd rate within a week and we had some 1st rates the next week, but we didn't have them on day one.....some folks will use any excuse to explain there short failings lol -
I would just be happy to see it rebalanced back to it's more stronger stat stage when it first came out. Along with some of the other 4th rates I think if they give them back some of there old stats they would be better match with the Wasa which I still think should be moved up in BR and put in the 3rd class range. Even if it keep's it's 4th class stats I think the higher BR would be better for balance as it would mean less taken into PB's as it sucks up most your BR.

and don't be a noob like me and forget to change your sails or hit your fat fingers to go into manual mode and wonder why your only going 4 knts on a ship that can go 10+....I swear between my luck with RNG and my very stiff fingers from years of using hammers and impacts this game kills me. To think I use to be an office Bitch in the Navy and type over 90 words a min....but that was such boring work...lol IE this is why I get owned in games like CoD cause my fingers aren't all twitchy like some silly teens lol- 187 replies

Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I would vote show both. Do the main speed and than list the adjusted or side force with something simple like 10.4 knts/7 knts with the first number being speed without side force and than the second be the side force adjustment or something like that. Keep it simple but for those that want more date have the second one too. I kinda agree the none painted model of that ship actually looks nice when others look very bland. I think my biggest problem with the new paint is that every time I try to take it out to look at it's freaking dusk or dawn in game...lol -

I'll just be happy with a cannon looting system too. That way I can steal some of them off the ship (not all) before I scuttle her....lol Would make my pirate very happy. BATTLE SALES or just manually control your sails when you are ready to make the shot. Honestly if your leaning that much than you prob need to slow down for a good shot, which also means your opponent on that side is prob leaning and showing his belly to you too. Yah AI been doing some silly stuff, but we keep joking they are better than some of the players we fought too now cause of it.....really there are just some guys that are going to suffer so hard cause they still can't manual sail after being in game long enough to make Rear Admiral. Than again when you only fight AI who needs to know that stuff? Not always the best option in some cases better to neutralize one of your sails to get the same results. As much as they suck watch AI and you notice they actuall do this more than depower. I mean it's not hard to just manual sail a bit to get the desire results when you need it. Also watch your belly cause if your rolled over and showing it it will give you leaks.- 187 replies

Leeway warning! Important!
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I have an alt that carries the mortar brig perk just for port battles. One of the reasons some folks think I wasn't in a port battle when I was and calling it..lol, but that put a side I'm all ready seeing even more improtants in bring one for some of the port battles. Specially the bigger BR ones that are in closed harbors or such which can be very deadly depending on the wind upon attack. Even in a big battle we lost I still sunk a 1st rate or two before I was taken out, so I can just see how deadly they will be now. Not to mention against silly AI. This just means you can't bring all SOL's, you will need to mix it up a bit on both sides. Even though on GLOBAL we defended it several time, we found our make up of defending ships at Cart was not doing well. I spent most the battle in a L'Ocean trying not to sink. Good thing was that meant they weren't firing on the rest of my team, but it started to be a pattern where I decided it might be best if I stop bringing a L'Ocean to that port battle. Now the shallow entrance is even more deadly to fight in cause you can get stuck easily in there. Maybe pick better ships, better entry point and judged the wind better? All part of being a good battle commander and being able to adapt to changes in the battle. While I don't want it to be a simulator too, but this is very true. It will be hard for some, but easy for others, but we should not be holding every ones hands and we should not give every one easy mode. You want the cool end of game stuff you need to do the hard end of game content. Now I bet we are going to see a lot more smaller ships taking on big ships and mixed up battles. Well we can hope. One of the things that drove me crazy back when we would be fighting all the time in GLOBAL was almost every one in BLACK had full sails while I'm sitting at battle sails. Than they get stuck and can't pull out of bad situations that all I had to do is pop full sails and pull right out. That was back just after the wipe where every one was doing tanked out LO/WO ships with some doing WO/WO and I was over here with a Teak/WO. By the end of things it ended out the guys that did the best in battles and stuck around was switching to more the WO/WO and Teak/WO misses and going for more the over all all a rounder ships than tanked out slow tug boats. Slow tug boats are targets in my book. I did enough of that being on an Aircraft Carrier in the Navy (as some call floating targets). So hopefully we will see more folks use Battle Sails in battle. There should be some perks like better accuracy (give full sails a penalty to accuracy). And I like your point about not sailing directly at your target. One battle I commanded every one was like why are we going this direction and not straight at them. As soon as the wind change which was a 50/50 bet on going the way I wanted it to, they understood. We took the wind from them and caught them dead in the bad wind and was able to take a much stronger force in a battle we should of lost from the start. This is going to be even more key with the new wind mechanics.- 187 replies

WASA why so over powered?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sea Fox's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Yah every one wants to nerf the Wasa but none of them really think of the 4th rates old states that where OP when they came out cause they had nothing of that class to compare too. I think bumping the BR up a bit on the Wasa in @Liq example 1 above is the best bet until the other ships are balanced and is a quick fix. Give the other 4th rates bumps to there old stats when they came out and you will see a lot more folks like them. So that we had ships of specialliies. Wasa can stay the jack of all trade but master of none, but he actually has to be that if that is it's role, right now he masters to much even with being limited now to PvP marks only. With that Hermonie should be CM as she is a good balanced ship that is not good at anything but better than most in that class over all. That was the perfect ship balance for CM ship. Than put the 3rd rate in as a CM ship since we have some new 3rd rates coming in the future. It will give her a role between the 4ths and 3rds as a cheap ship folks can just buy and jump into for OW engagements.
