  1. Define "lazy" in relation to what "challenges" you are referring to... We might be very different, you and me. I'm glad you like the game. Even today admin reminded us to not focus too much on player count, it always goes up after a patch. I was super sad and bitter, it's true. Then they made Legends... Thank you for your concern but, really, I'm good.
  2. Excluding PB's to some extent: Speed is the strongest survivability factor in OW. So people with a clue will find the happy medium in wood choices then pay or grind superhard to speedoutfit the ship. These semi-tanky speedships are faster than the poor people's fir/fir ships. You think it promotes diversity but it's a sham. I know you PVE'ers don't see a problem with this, but many players come to a new game with two questions: "Is this game pay-to-win?" and "How strong is the grind-to-win factor?". OW has a disgustingly large bot-orgy-grind-to-win factor. Anyhoo... I think you won the war because they let off on the speedcap and made bots poop more loot. GGWP!
  3. "Bot humper"
  4. At least on the Pickle. It plays out differently on a ship like Endymion.
  5. Memory plays into this too, went from 8 to 16gig - it mattered.
  6. Came for the sexual innuendo, stayed for the brushup on disco mechanics.
  7. I'm guessing, just like you, but consider that things are often kept simple for coding, usage and balancing purposes. To have mainsail upgrades that boost upwind performance would, to some extent, defeat the intended purpose of the upgrades. This is why I guess only "T" sails get a boost from jib bonus or upwind bonus even if gaff sails would help upwind performance in the real world. Besides, even if studded gaff sails boost upwind performance maybe the nerf to the "T" sails takes away from upwind performance enough for the sum of boost to end up negative <draws breath>. You know, like one step forward, two steps back. This is easy to test if you have perks on a pickle. I don't. Ooof, yes! Most of the new things are making it better. But to pull out the option to go pure text with tags and forcing you to wrestle with a wysiwyg editor that does whatever it likes is frustrating. It would be almost impossible for me to do a large post like the old ship previews or the spoiler packed original speed topic.
  8. Don't look at me! I'm just relaying old info.
  9. I thought it was like you already said: simply press "T", observe which sails are taken away and those are your jib class sails. The rest are mainsail class.
  10. 25 is a set technical limit to avoid making the server choke on too many flying cannonballs. At least last time someone asked.
  11. Ok, then...
  12. What the heck, Lonar!? You make a post wondering what's up with your ships. People come to help with due diligence question to exclude the usual suspects and you get pissy with them?! What if the community figured this out on our own without distracting the devs from their planned tasks? You're not under attack, people are just trying to be helpful!
  13. I don't have a problem with that, I actually like that a lot.
  14. ^This doesn't scare away trolls, it attracts them. The whole unlimited repairs thing amuses me. Are you aware that the feature was specifically made for people wanting what you state: Recharging repairs was made to allow people to recover from mistakes, repair sails and get away. So here you come along wanting to be able to get away but without recharging repairs? Are you sure what you're specifically asking would bring about what you really want? (Please note I strongly dislike the current recharging repairs, albeit for different reasons or based on different wishes.) I agree with your post in general, just allow me the opinion that recharging repairs is as skillbased as the eco game is skillbased. <giggles> I don't disagree. Keep in mind it is generally believed that we would lose more players without defensive tags as with the fear of loss most people's prime impulse is to get away. Don't ask me how to make PvP in OW great as long as we're married to eco. Dude, I've told you this already. Ships sink faster now than they've ever done. Ouch! That's harsh! It took like two weeks after the introduction of eco gameplay for that mindset to settle in the global player psychology. It's eco gameplay as predicted and intended. Super easy to avoid bow rammers unless you're ganked. If you're ganked that's the thing you often can't do anything against.
  15. OP just broke my passive agressive meter.
  16. You're not fooling me pretending you didn't catch my drift. You can have your server merge for all I care, RvR doesn't catch my fancy so I'm completely indifferent to even the most horrible nightflip situation. I do remember the shitstorm that culminated in the server split. Whatever you try to pretend that is the reason we're still separated. Heh, yet another issue with eco and loss: Since "things matter" in OW people react extremely when things are taken away from them while they work or sleep. I've yet to see an adequate solution to this. I just blame eco as always. 😎
  17. This is normal in other games as well. Besides, admin has hinted at an upcoming rebalance.
  18. I'm not so big on loss, PvP frequency is inversely proportional to perceived pain and fear of loss... Possibly exponentially. Easily fixed and I bet they will.
  19. Ah, this is a good friday afternoon fun-post! Jon does what Chris does every week - Chris is not amused.
  20. ^This is the standard line. "The economy needs it!" Why is it unfair? How are we stopping you from engaging in the stuff you like? Ya'll can choke on a mountain of easy, menial, boring and time-consuming eco tasks as long as I don't have to. A little fore-play makes it better, I'm in for that, but you're like Laban trying to trick me into years of work before I can get into Rachel's pants. I'll tell you what's unfair: I don't want to force anyone to do things they don't enjoy. You are free to circumvent any open world mechanic you want (OW hunting, RvR, PvP...). But you! You want to take away all the bones we've been thrown and make sure we play it your way; The Right Way... The eco way. "If you want Rachel I'll force Leah on you because rules." You can have Leah, I only love Rachel.
  21. Me too. I don't worry about that at all.
  22. lel It's easy for me to become combative in these topics. Since the promise of Legends I've calmed down a bit and I've let the sandbox guys run more free than before. I don't pretend to know what would work anymore; I only know what would make me want to spend more time in OW. Sometimes I actually think OW would be better off without someone like me or other players who only really want to engage in PvP. We are an annoyance here on the forums and our entire raison d'être in OW is to make trouble.
  23. Soon.
  24. Think of it as an approximation of the naval career. You do stuff and your country gives you a command without pesky eco stuff involved. I also think it's there to help general PvP. When eco guys get their way with "everything must matter and loss should be terrible" PvP dies down to a minimal level. It has nothing to do with Legends testing. I never understood why a throwaway ship people are free to use without all the usual OW angst would be a bad thing.
