Honest question at the risk of sounding obtuse: Why would you even want Bermuda? Is it something other than ersatz "safe-zone"?

Lack of chasers severly limits gameplay
jodgi replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Poor Essex, no chasers AND excruciating tacking. One of those would be enough. Too much balance. 😋 -

"I was a slave to a Captain jodgi in the Danmark-Norge part of the Virgin Islands. I was badly mistreated. My master had dealings with a certain banished privateer and he told me he would train me in fighting skills. I paid the master forger for freedom papers and escaped to the southern Bahamas. The privateer gifted me many volumes of books on the fighting of ships for me to absorb. I was still studying when I learned that my benefactor privateer had shed the black to join with the Prussian rebels. My particular friend was gone and I did not take it well. I found the pirates to be much ado about nothing, hiding under the guns of their fort and crying outrage when brave captains brought action upon them. Pederasts the lot of them! Better the devil you know, right? I troubled the master forger for da-no union papers and ran home like the wretch I am. F**king jodgi, though! Yours, never Captain slavecrafter" -

Fighting for wind only to see my work wasted after a set amount of time due to big and random wind changes makes me very sad. Go with @DeRuyter's suggestion for both gameplay and realism reasons. Captains had some form of barometers, right? Combine that with local experience, general weather experience and whatever meteorological training they had and they could largely foresee changes in wind. I dare say they were more often right than taken by surprise. Ask anyone with formal meteorological education. btw. I've cashed in on lucky random and big wind changes as well. Two Mercs would've gotten away from my trinco had it not been for the wind lottery. I'm sure some people like that. I don't.

Swear. Swear at someone. Swear at something. Saying something is stupid. Saying someone is stupid. You get the point... Know the difference, avoid unwanted attention.

I never meant to imply shit isn't going down as is. I'm simply saying it's even worse with always open battles. -

Yup. True wysiwyg is 90 seconds downwind. Tested. Meticulously. -

This is everyone's lot. Yup, forget about doing it light ships. You need to hit on 4th rates and above for anything useful. I'm slow, I remember being puzzled by lineships sitting sails down in green zone outside CS. To be fair: PvP your head off and buy the needed sub-books from the drone grinders for PvP marks. Remember, the green-zone pve grinders provide the OW with tons of content and should be commended. -
We did too. I kinda doubt it took that many people out of the OW, but then again isn't that why it was removed? That it worked too well and OW isn't for that type of pvp-on-demand?

There is a metric ton of posts on this issue buried in these forums. We've seen what happens. It sounds like a great idea, but people use it to gank and grief. Hiding in port, sending out lure, hiding behind landmass... Admin is actually keen on big and open battles, players do the King Midas in reverse on it, tho. -
Poll: Grinding ship slots and rare books?
jodgi replied to Navalus Magnus's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
True. But it is more time efficient to rape bots. PveXP/time > pvpXP/time. It's not a problem I want to see fixed, it's just how it is. -

We have pve and PvP server. Isn't it weird with PVE exclusive stuff on PvP server? -

A bit tricky to make "forced" pve enjoyable for people who want to PvP. -

I don't want to sound negative, pve books makes me really negative... -
Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
jodgi replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Hah! It may be OT but it's more on point than you might think. The fastest low-level fighter; la7 is called "lala" (with the optional post-fix "dweeb", slightly derogatory due to extreme usage). Then there's the high-alt "runstang". 😉 -
Where are vids of elites vs elites?..
jodgi replied to Kejsaren's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I never adopted to the (inane) repair meta either and that is shamefully obvious in that vid @Liq posted yesterday in the "elite 1v1" topic. Boy, is my face red. I've never dueled belle's in a trinco, could you explain how it goes? The gun diff isn't enough to let trinco work for an edge? (I know you aren't dpm broadsiding it out as I can see that would be a losing proposition.) -

Even in 1v1 having the wind enables you to hold the initiative or dictate the engagement, this hasn't changed since Sea Trials. If things start go go south having the wind makes it easier to break off and escape. The leeward dude has to react to the windward guy. -
had to restart from scratch

Partly true. Over the years there's been unofficial pvp zones and many pre-arranged OW duels where we stopped before ships sunk. Sometimes we went in identical shop ships to avoid all the angst with super ships or mods, we would break it off if one guy forgot boarding stuff as the outcome was inevitable. Also duel room. Rakers spent much more time in duel room than in OW as the pve'ers gradually took over. Never in life, my dear!
