The number of port raids is for giving you time to practice. The final feature will have NPCs attack only rich ports for top 3 nations. We really suggest you practice. You can use wind gusts to get ships transported and practice. This feature stays. The safety switch will be switched off on Monday. Countries will start losing ports if they do not figure out how to defend.

Cumulative hotfixes for Seasonal Update: Treacherous waters
admin replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Today in the hot-fix Tuned Battle Ratings for NPC raider attack which now better correspond the battle ratings for ports Increased investments points for all ports with the exception of 55 point ports Removed NPC ability to pray to gods and call a player to replace a captain on a Peace server. Loki runes are now useless on the Peace server. -
See You are proving my point, attacking us, accusing of something, shifting blame, threatening, claiming we said something we did not say. Claiming there is a fight that someone needs to win when there is no fight and just an experiment. Ignoring the question about friedrich yet often demanding we answer your questions. We do not like double standards here. Community strength and real friends are tested in hard times not in easy times Loki gets removed. Peace on the server will be restored. We have nothing more to say on this subject.
-
We no longer tolerate shitstorms and always call them lately( Peace or war does not make a difference) We love both servers. You are no exception. But You want us to protect the server, bring the features and improve the game- why dont you protect the devs? We are one community not us vs them. Want to be part of the community behave like one. I for one have not seen you correcting Freidrich trashy language both here and in game chat. Care to explain? Are you a bystander or a member of the community?
-
We are the community and you are all are part of it. But we were mistaken probably - you were fighting some battles and fights (us vs them) instead of working together. All features could be bad or good. And you never know before you test. Some might fail and wont be liked. Instead of saying : this feature is freaking bad - test has failed - please remove asap. What was said by many?. Devs are limited minded, delusional, idiots, stupid etc? Who protected us? PvP players. Where was the Peace server community? Community members are showing true colors not when the times are great (port battles) but when mistakes are made or experiments fail (Loki). Community members protect other community members. Otherwise they are just visitors/bystanders. + i have not seen any gratitude post from you except for Port battles are a joke> Want an example? Many of your suggestions (many community members wanted that too) - were done. So please practice what you preach - say great when things are great, call the the jerks out and point and them and tell them to shut up, point at bad things as a person - be a community member. Not a visitor
-
@Sir Texas Sir is correct. It was a good thing to call you out. We always considered Peace server players our supporters and part of the community. We turned back on our plan to close pve servers after launch because of that. Last 2 months we spent significant amount of time making the Port battles and investment work for the PVE server. We gave a head start making loki work on on PvP server first and actually mentioned that loki will be brought to Peace server for testing The outrage on testing the feature was unacceptable. And the outrage culture you guys shown will just make us worry and afraid to bring anything new to peace server. And as we said before - loki was opening a door to consensual pvp. But this door is closed because nobody will give me resources and programming hours to experiment with new features on the Peace server because of risks of outrage bombs.

Seasonal Update: Treacherous Waters - Preliminary information
admin replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Not all - some hull shapes are less inclined to this But in general there is wind speed which will force you to be slower, due to multiple factors (wave, wind pressure on masts or just heeling). in fact heeling not only can make you slower, but have another useful or very dangerous consequences. All of which will be implemented in this or future games. -
Seasonal Update: Treacherous Waters - Preliminary information
admin replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Hull speed was not meaningless in the Age of sail. It determines how fast a hull can move through flat water, and depends solely on waterline length (without heeling) Even though Froude proven it in mid 19 century it is useful for determining ideal possible speed of a vessel in the age of sail at least relatively. It would be meaningless if one crew cannot trim sails and cannot feel wind rotation, but it is not meaningless at all when determining the relative ship performance with all other things being equal, or balanced to be equal. Well i am not sure you understood the example we gave. Examples are given for points between close hauled - beam reach, to illustrate the point that wind strength is also important and depending of wind strength performance of a vessel will change a lot. That is why there are certain rigs that work on some coasts and not work well on other coasts. So for closed hauled - our examples are correct - heavy line ship sill struggle finding any movement close hauled in light winds. Cutter will be a lot faster. And there is wind strength where line-ship will sail but cutter wont. Numbers you provided show max recorded speed at the best wind for that vessel. We are talking about wind strength and how ship performance will change. There were ships that were amazing in trade winds but were completely useless in light changing winds near coasts. A xebec will perform well near Sicily, but will have a hard time in Providence, near Boston. About the reference you provided. Top gallant gale = gale where you can carry top gallant Which means meaning - this wind is not really super strong, as it would be dangerous to carry all sails in very strong wind if it suddenly increases and drops (and it happens sometimes especially on the edges of fronts. Top sail gale would probably mean a stronger wind - as you would only take off top gallants if wind is stronger.. and here you already see effects @Malcolm3 was talking about - some ships are slower with stronger wind. But some ships are faster.. That's why wind strength will find its way into the game and future games. None of the examples you provided show close hauled or reaching speed if they were providing it - badger (12) would probably be the fastest especially in light wind - confirming our table. Cutters, xebecs or bermuda rigs would be even faster. HMS boreas numbers look weird. 6 knots HMS Alrbemarle (former french merchantman) numbers look even more weird at 16 knots when it is known from multiple sources that Endymion was the fastest ship at 14.5 15 knots. So overall we do not see where our examples are incorrect. But nevertheless this discussion is very useful as we really looking for for all the missing pieces for this and future amazing games in the age of sail. We see great future of our sailing model that will only get better and better. There is also one missing piece that will finally solve the battle sails puzzle - we only discovered by accidentally stumbling on a rare seamanship book from 1810. But we wont talk about it in public until this feature is tested. ps.. medusa (32) 13 knots before the wind - slightly doubt it . -
There will be no poll Loki could have opened a door to a consensual PVP and was supposed to increase variety on the Peace server. We do not see any roads like this based on feedback to this experiment. Peace server should not have any players on the opposite side, its against the spirit of peace and friendship.
-
This attitude shows a simple thing. Peace servers treats the whole situation as us vs them. For some reason it was treated as a fight not a cooperation. We deployed LOKI on PVP first and it was active there for some time. Everyone knew it would be also eventually working on the PVE server - nobody said a word. We always said we will deploy it on pve for testing. For testing means - giving it out to see if people like it or not. Most peace server colleagues treated it as insult , a war, instead of experiment. Some abused the devs some review bombed the game.

We collect feedback in the dedicated topics and currently are interested in feedback on Ship designer/Shipyard Missions Combat in general (combat, realism, fun) Performance and crashes of course. Please feel free to share your thoughts ideas and suggestions in those topics.

Aggressive AI has nothing to do with AI asking for help from players. AI can only ask for help when attacked.
-
Please use the correct definitions. Ganking is attacking someone with a force multiplier. Here you are attacking a NPC. You - attacked that NPC in the open world and he asked for help (in missions NPC cannot ask for help)
-
You still cannot attack players. And other players cannot attack you. But when you attack defenseless NPCs who were minding their own business never attacked you, why they cannot ask players for little help? Overall. This is an experimental feature and we will keep it or remove it depending on the results. In the near future NPCs will attack your ports, chase you in the OW and their AI will improve. We see no harm giving players control of NPCs as well, as it increases variety of combat. They cannot talk, cannot repair, we thought Pease PVE players could handle these threats. Remember that solo missions cannot be invaded.

2 New Items: Loki Rune, And Ship Logbook
admin replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Please stop talking about new players and loki. New players cannot be invaded and solo missions cannot be invaded. If a player attacks anything in the open world - its his choice of ships. Having a player or not a player commandeering that ship does not matter. Ship stats remain the same and NPC ships have horrible stats IN TURNING. Loki also helps to see that AI is not really over buffed or crazy strong as users say. -

Cumulative hotfixes for Seasonal Update: Treacherous waters

It is a Peace server. And this feature is provided for testing. We are all for limited experiments. The only way to truly see if people love it - is to give it to them. -
Cumulative hotfixes for Seasonal Update: Treacherous waters

No chat of course. You are captaining for the NPC. The goal is to make PVE more varied and interesting. We wont use forum to make decisions on the big important features. There will be an in-game email or poll. that will ask players on the Peace server if they want to fight for NPCs or not. The test will run for a week or maybe two, not more.. -

We said it before We rarely ban players from chat. Its very hard to get such a ban. But touching upon subjects like mothers, sisters, daughters can cause immediate ban even if said as a joke - if reported. Especially if a player is reported multiple times. Especially if you also was an active troll on the forum (forum account banned). We wont care about nation or clan of a player, or his reviews or whatever. DesMoines can appeal the ban and post an apology, if he feels he made a mistake.

nerf dissatisfaction with delivery missions.
admin replied to EliotXII's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
As we said before.. we brought back some doubloons to missions with a decent chance. This is the best we can do to control inflation. Reals will stay on the low side.
