The problem of people just ramming heavier ships was deemed to be a bigger problem. People were chain ramming lineships disabling them completely.

its harder in game than in real life because in real life crews were firing gun by gun when passing the stern - allowing accurate fire even at variable speeds in game you have to time 1) speed of your ship with speed of gunfire 2) potential direction of enemy turning the deck shoots all guns in 5 seconds so you can get all shots into the stern if you pass your length of your gun deck in 5 seconds if you are raking at 0 meters for example - if you are raking in a victory (60m gun deck length) you have to move 12m per sec to get all shots into the stern If you are raking at distance you can have less speed because you can converge the guns. if you are close use locked sector. if you are far use 250m or unlocked depending on distance and practice ... ask a friend to duel you. I know some people can get all shots into the stern for massive damage -

Timers cannot be changed now - you can set them only after the capture using the following rules http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14294-important-reminder-on-the-port-timers/ But your case can be solved if it is true There was a number of ports that changed hands after the 9.8 patch and before the 9.81 hot fix. Due to misunderstanding some timers could not be set during contested state and had to be changed after maintenance. We fixed it in the 9,81 hot fix, but maybe some captains did not have a chance to change it during maintenance and now have ports without the timer (but with a lord protector). If you captured the port between 18 and 25th may but were not able to set the timer during maintenance you can ask the lord protector to contact us in this topic to help fix the problem.

Captains We would like to remind you about the important change we did this month regarding port timers You can only change port timers during Contested status. This means only after capture and until the next maintenance you can change it as many times you want, but.... You cannot change the timer after the next maintenance. Please remember this when setting timers. This was done to fix the exploits of nations resetting the timers constantly to stop coordinated attacks. tldr Contested state = can change timers as many times as you want Captured state after maintenance = cannot change timers.

politics alliances and pirates will be addressed and they will improve conquest but it will still be somewhat meaningless - unless gear treadmills are added to the game - for example you cannot sail victory until you get reputation level which you get if you capture 10 ports etc.. or you nation cannot own victories unless you own 20 ports.. But current design - you can sail anything without any limitations if you have money - contradicts with gear treadmills. -

All wars are meaningless People buy this game "because ships" People stay because of many other reasons conquest included. If they find conquest interesting they stay if they get bored eventually they leave. But they get what they wanted when they were buying the game - beautiful realistic age of sail ships and epic scale allowing players to feel the experience age of sail captains had. Most buyers don't even care about RVR when they make the purchase decision. Online numbers also do not influence the purchase decision. You can experience everything solo or with a couple of friends. + lets be honest with each other. people think they want realism, they talk about realistic guns and speeds, but reality shows they want motorboats and clicker heroes . The problem is that people won't buy if they see motorboats - they will understand it later that faster pace is more fun.- 84 replies

the change is minimal to get this reaction it was always 7 5 3 / went up a bit after gun rebalance to 10 5 3 and is now 7 3 2 penetration still works and you won't demast anything from distance

Patch will be deployed today on Friday 27th May What's new: Fixed the bug that did not increase crew damage when shooting at top deck of the ship on the boarding crew focus. Officers cannot close clan warehouse now (to avoid extremely painful mistakes) Fixed bugs: Grape bugs fixed. Grape damage now depend on planking state and distance Grape now affects exit timers again Fixed bug that did not allow exit from the contested port Tunings: Ramming leaks are disabled - we considered them unhistorical because ships collide above the waterline and by the time underwater parts hit most energy is lost due to water friction and bow destruction. This also fixed several game breaking exploits like using cheap ships to disable heavy vessels by ramming. They might come back in the future in another form. Cannonball damage to crew slightly reduced As a start of anti inflationary changes monetary rewards for port battles are now 1x The ability of cannonballs to destroy cannons through stern is slightly reduced to include cannons that are destroyed but are still blocking the shots. HP of masts rebalanced a bit. Approximate number of shots to destroy the mast based on the max possible caliber for that ship is 7 for the lower section 3 for mid section and 2 for upper section of the mast. Mast thickness still works so it is still going to be impossible to demast from 1km. (previous mast thickness was 10/5/3 for respective sections) Chain damage increased significantly Discuss

it is a schematic depiction but the main impact will be above water because the ship is made of wood, and they are both in the water the destruction of the upper bow part will soften the impact by destroying the bow part of the colliding ship and pushing the other ship. By the time underwater part collides with another ship most energy will be lost and/or will be transferred to pushing momentum. all unsecured items on decks will be affected (incl crew), but i don't think there will be a lot of devastating underwater holes.

My thinking is that it should not happen and should just destroy the bow for the ramming ship (causing leaks) but i think there are no under water holes after a ram maybe i am missing something

Question of the day Ramming penetrating holes - realistic or not? Based on the shape of the hulls and bows we now believe that rams should not happen and should just damage the bow for the ramming ship. Even if the speed is high the damage based on ship models should be above the waterline for all vessels. Thoughts?

Need for Turning Acceleration

on accel the changes are obvious and they will make ships better the main question that we are dont have an answer is this slow turning vs fast turning on frigates and heavy vessels - how did it work in reality and what was for example the difference in turning radius and turning speed at 5 knots vs 10 knots vs 15 knots we tried everything to find how it worked then (or how it works now on large sailing vessels) but to no avail- 22 replies

i think we should just remove it from officers we give 3 warnings on outpost closure and still get 3 letters per week asking to undo capital city outpost deletion he was shot did you shoot that officer

Admiral Byng case ? You are related to royal navy - royal navy never promoted rookies to senior officers. In game an officer is almost a member of admiralty board. Dont promote captains to officers if you can't trust them. ps giving more options to officers was requested by multiple clans because clan creators were not there for them. We are not sure if its a good thing or not now.. maybe they should only be able to open one (but not close), as the risk is high and there should be some defence against dumb clicks.

grape carries some damage - if you hit the weak part of the rudder you can cut the ropes for example etc broadside need checking. Please always provide more data when reporting i have no idea about hypothetical insane damage without talking ships, distances and angles give specifics plz

We don't tolerate people who misrepresent facts about us here. Alliances/Politics and pirate rework was one of the issues on the development priorities thread. It was voted as N1 priority by players We are working on it We always deliver what we promise. And we always focus on what players want (ships or features). Thats the opposite of stubborn If you continue twisting the facts (a-la lying) - you won't be welcome here any longer.

some ships are still gap closers and gap closers will have parameters to close the gap.

its a journey.. it will get to a good state eventually new pen system brings new dimensions that did not exist before positioning matters now and matters a lot ships of the line feel like ships of the line and can dispatch multiple weaker targets equal ship battles don't depend on dps only - 1 ship can win against 2-3 enemies in skilled hands ships tank with broadside and stern is vulnerable convergence of guns matter (locked sector penetrate better because 40% convergence to point increase angle of shot) shape of hull matters if you start using these tools suddenly you got a lot more options than before (which was click click at any angle from any distance) the only issues are: the weak top decks for ships of the line and maybe mast thickness we will find the solution for them
