Let us go back in time as there were no dlc ships. Any uber-elite prince captain could run away from an other prince like the xebec can now run away from a xebec. Even during an exact mirror match between 2 princes it's easy to run away. Why nobody complained like now? Going back even further. A surprise could run away from any square rigger and was more maneuverable than most ships. Why nobody complained as hard as now? Regarding herc before it got dlc ship the exact same players were saying its fine but should not do portbattles. Now even OW is broken? Why it wasn't before?

TBH looking at the xebec - pirate rig makes it op thats right. A xebec without those force mods is nothing else then a prince with more crew. She couldnt catch any sqaure rigger downwind. All she could do is fight lynx cutters and princes. In order to make her fast people have to use fir/fir ships like anyone else. currently you can make them lO/WO and they are still speedy. Gamelabs should revert the pirate rig mod to its old stats. - The xebec shows in a perfect way how broken mods are. But yeah grinding mods is content so they have to stay.This small revert would balance the xebec in the overall picture But she can run away so easy. -Any schooner can run away easy. But she can hug my side and kill me. - Any ship that has a low shape can huge you to death. That isnt new but now more people got away from decent ships (1st rates) and started to sail "no real ships" and figured out that hugging is a nice meta on those ships and now because it happens more often people started to complain till they figure out that a xebec has almost no leeway and they could exploit that fact. Its like always something is new but people havent figured out how to counter yet so they go to forum and complain. -
Its actually a gank its 8vs1. Its intended by gamedesign that the 1 has a chance against superior numbers

Why fight them in the first place with the square rigger? If they are not demasted they will run like any other schonner would do when things get worse. its not chinese its actually a mediterranean sailing ship Thats called leeshore and it always bad to get trapped on it. Always keep distance between you and land when sailing a aquare rigger during wind pointing at a shore. -

No that isnt possible anymore you only can attack other nations. All what players of your nation can do to you is flame you in chat and when they shot in a battle at you its considered friendly fire and can be punished when reported. Its a sandbox. All what you can think about is possible. So when you want to be a privateer act by your own rules. The game is clear. Is it red (enemy) you can attack it. thats the only rule If you dont belong to a clan you make your own rules. You can get in contact with the enemy and negotiate about peace that all is by trust to the other side because there is currently no game mechanic. Game is simply. other nations are your enemy. diplomacy is player driven and only due to trust. Trader ships like "trader brig" "indiaman" "trader snow" "trader cutter" "trader lynx" and "Lgv" have a special rule they can act as smuggler and can enter any port even if it belongs to the enemy.

We once "had" a mechanic that when you attacked someone of your own nation you turned pirate but this mechanic was taken out because of player mistakes. Every nation (pirates are a nation as well) can visit avaiable for all ports (that are ports captured by a nation but set to be open for access for any nation) Freetwons are non capturable and are by nature open for access to any nation. You can play NA as solo player. But everything is way slower. As team you can get access to everything faster. Access you gain faster as team are crafting and pvp. RvR (port battles) are impssible as solo player against other players. In order to join a portbattle you have to be in a clan because rvr is clan based only clans that are on the port battle list can send player into the port. What you can do is join screening ( aka denying enemy to enter the portbattle) without being in a clan. Just read the nation chat, study the portbattle information on the map and be at the right time at the right place. What can happen is that those players still want to communicate and therefore use discord or ts, because in big battles com is key. For casualy hunting AI you dont need voice. just ask in nation chat if someone want to join you.

You can do that in a prince, privateer as well. Are the ships broken too?

Why he can not? I thought that franz is willing to face the odds means joe will notice his chance and fight. In the surprise periode that ship did exactly the same. Fought as long as it wanted just to go upwind to run away when things went bad. Where is the difference?

If i am not mistaken we had 150 players at night and 300-400 during eu prime time some time ago. Now we have 600. Why everyone has to point out game is dying and that it's getting worse? If you are just looking for action I can recommend to do the tutorial and the exams. Completing them will give you starting money a 250crew rank (let's you crew a decent sized frigate) and repairs. Furthermore you get a bit used to the combat system. After that it's really up to you. If you don't like trading and you want to get into instant action I can recommend to buy at least one of the available dlc ships. Those ships can be redeemed in-game once ever day and cost no in-game effort except 3 clicks. Depending on you nation choice you can either patrol your reinforcement area and help players in distress or you can go to the patrol area (don't forget to pick the mission) and fight a la moba game to the death with no option to escape. Here I recommend to look for battles that already started and to join one of sides.

The only thing about those ships is that with very little modification effort they get into the high end class while ships like renomee, bellona etc need way more love (aka gear) to reach that lvl. Suddenly average Joe can compete with elite Franz. That makes Franz sad

A sealclubber in a bellona, renomee, ingermanland faces the same consequences as someone in a herc if all their ships go 15.5.

spot a hunter in your zone. attack Ai close to him. Vola fight against the odds. Dont call in nation chat for help and you will have a nice solo fight. hail the "no names visible in ow" But might be bit hardcore right?

you could be the other guys waiting for the dudes that come to sink your nation players in your reinforcement zone. You dont need to use a dlc ships for that. Just the right ship with the right set up to catch those guys. Best nation to be in is british nation. Lot of players come daily to KPR or Belize.

As pirate i would now start to blame spanish for denying content.... oh wait easy win so actually good mechanic

Oh I thought encyclopedias are endgame? By now I am really confused 😞 Funny thing how some players want some things immediately. But encycs should be hard to get. Work for the ports - rate what's important - it's clan based RvR not national. Or is one clan suddenly a nation? Should one clan maintain the whole map? If I remember correct during Prussian start 2.0 some clans where happy as they got hands on any port. Just so they could own something. In this case I wouldn't blame the system it's good. It leads us to make a choice. What's flawed is that we gank any portbattle attempts and call that screening. So small clans don't even have to participate in RvR. Why attack something in the first place with 10 guys when you can be sure the whole server will be there to screen? I like to quote rediii here who said "you need at least 25 first rates to even start hostility." Why else would players pull hostility missions on top of each other? Why we needed to get a timer after battles in order to join in a pb. Why we came up with so many exploits that made us join a Pb. In my opinion what's flawed why we see so few Pb is the way to the pb. Not the pay of the timers. That's just mimimi by overextended clans that think they have to rule the map.
