  1. I've requested clarification from Admin on this. Please stand by until he clarifies his post and the rules. Thank you.
  2. My most recent understanding about the Yacht is that it will remain available to purchasers at least up until Early Access opens. That's unofficial, but that's the last I heard.
  3. That form of "support" does not pay the extensive hosting, bandwidth, and hardware costs that it will take to keep the game running. Nor does it pay for developers and modelers to create new content. You're quite lucky that the Developers are planning a more GuildWars 2 style financing plan rather than a traditional monthly subscription plan. The paid content will be needed to allow the game to continue to run and grow. If you don't want to pay more than the initial $40, you can happily keep playing so long as there are new people signing up and other folks who are willing to pay for premium content to keep the game running for you.
  4. You'll have to pay either way. Try sending an email to support@game-labs.net - tell them why you think you'd be a good tester, what skills/knowledge/experience you'd bring to the testing, and they might just add you.
  5. With the exception of upwind sailing in Open World, and they only get one repair instead of three, my understanding is that the AI fights under exactly the same rules we do. I've frequently knocked out guns on AI ships - including a Brig that after a broadside from my Surprise, was reduced to only three guns on one side. If you think it is a bug, please F11 after a broadside in which you think you should have knocked out the AI's guns, but there is no "special" treatment for AI that I'm aware of.
  6. There is no code. The default, base client is Open World. The code was just to activate a special closed Beta version.
  7. Start by going to your Library, right click the Naval Action Beta item on the List (either of the two list - detail views, or if you're in tiled view, right click the game tile), select Properties. Then go to the "Local Files" tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". Please report back if that doesn't help. Sea Trials no longer exists, it was a temporary client to test Combat. We're now testing Open World. I'm also going to move this to the "Support" forum so that it can receive more attention.
  8. To be clear, the Royal Navy went to seniority once you were a Post Captain. Prior to that rank, merit or social standing is what drove your promotion. After you became Post, you were on a list and moved up in that list when those above you either died or retired (we'll ignore "Yellowing" for now). Merit had nothing to do with it at that point.
  9. As mentioned, the server is offline. Please keep an eye on the forums for further updates. Thanks! I'm going to lock this thread as a duplicate.
  10. Thank you for your reports. AI sails "perfectly ", so it's very possible he was in depower mode to be sailing at that speed. It may not be a bug.
  11. I miss the detailed stats on ships in the shop myself.
  12. The Tribunal has been responded to. The rules posted in the News Section apply both here on the forums and in the game. Whether you are speaking to your friend or not, doing using the game channels means that you agree to the rules that govern what you say. Mr. Smith - Admin's statement about Doran's length of time on the forums wasn't that it excused his behavior, it was that he should have known better than someone who is brand new to the game what is and is not permitted. His age didn't excuse his behavior, it made it more serious. There's nothing further to add. Closing.
  13. The friendly fire is permitted between pirates at this time. Sailing under the black flag comes with potential consequences from other Pirates. My concern is with the language, and I see Admin is currently on this thread so I'll await his response.
  14. What I'm interested in just now is the potential use of the N word by Doran. Please post that screen.
  15. Please post the whole screenshot with the words that Mr. Doran is alleged to have said. Thank you.
  16. I've brought this to Admin's attention again, please be patient while they look into the issue.
  17. Please see the following links: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/3154-slave-trade-preferences/page-3?p=63704#entry63704 http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/5251-this-game-is-all-about-pvp/page-6#entry101514 http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/3154-slave-trade-preferences/page-3?p=63731#entry63731 I'm going to close this topic as Game-Labs has stated outright that there will be no player slave traders in the game.
  18. I have been advocating for trader cutters and trader pickles (formerly Lynx) to be seeded near starter ports. These ships would be less armed than a Lynx and would allow newbie friendly battles for new folks to cut their teeth on. They wouldn't be worth much to a larger ship.
  19. This might be a good thing to do in the Beta stages. Most Alphas I've been a part of weren't at a stage where such a system made a lot of sense. Since we're trying to test a rudimentary form of progression, perhaps posting your feedback on what you find most challenging about starting out would help the Developers to better understand what a person who is brand new to the game is experiencing. A lack of rewards helps to highlight those issues.
  20. Msr. LeBoiteux has pointed out the existing thread for this subject. I'm going to close this thread as a duplicate, but please feel free to post on the other thread!
  21. Admin has said that their goal is to procedurally generate the area you were in into the instance. Last I heard they weren't sure if it was possible just yet, but that's the goal, which I hope they can reach!
  22. I like the first suggestion, but I'd definitely like to see it take days to a week depending on distance. This shouldn't be a "free shipping" service where you can relocate all your stuff risk free. I do hear you though, I have some assets spread around a bit and the thought of fetching them all is a little daunting. As to shallows - the way to do this is to come straight in on the dock. It's a little interesting at times, but there is a channel that usually lines up with the dock, just cut straight in and 9/10 times you're in in one..
  23. Please see: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6045-beelz/page-2?p=114753#entry114753 Use the in-game report function for these types of offenses please. Closing.

  25. Most ships, if fully crewed, were already stuffed to the gills. The Royal Navy had a minimum amount of space required for each man's hammock, and it wasn't very easy to pack more on. For that reason, and also the excellent reason that Bungee outlined, I'm personally not a fan of the idea. Even a Post Captain temporarily assigned to a sloop wasn't able to pack more than the alotted number of men aboard, simply by dint of being a Post Captain.
