  1. Fluffy, please log in as your other character and destroy the yacht there. It should show up a little while later as a redeemable on your new character if I understand raskolnikoff correctly.
  2. "Good Poster" status doesn't really mean anything on these forums. Posters are judged on the basis of their content, not the count of their likes.
  3. A fore/aft rigged vessel exposes far less sail area to the wind going downwind than a square rigged vessel. If you take a look at the way the sails are designed, square riggers on a run expose far more sail area to the wind. The tradeoff is that when the wind is abeam, close reach, or close hauled, all of those lovely square sails rapidly become useless, as they can not be cranked over far enough to full catch the air. In those situations, a fore/aft rigged vessel's sails are far better able to apply more sail area to the wind, allowing them to sail faster than the square rigged ship on those points of sail.
  4. It's ok, but it doesn't give the developers what they need to quickly research and potentially reproduce the bug. The next time you see this happen, please immediately press F11 and fill the form out with as much detail as possible. Thanks.
  5. That's ok. Denial of the resource to the enemy is a time honored tradition in the world's Navies. Just look at USS Philadelphia, October, 1803. She was set on fire by the Americans to prevent her being used by Tripoli after she was captured. By marking it friendly if a ship on your side has captured it, you remove the possibility of green on green damage, which is what we need to prevent in my opinion. The enemy can and should still be able to fire upon it.
  6. I'm unsure. Did you press F11 and report it?
  7. That is the danger of totally decrewing another ship - it stays fully under sail and can reel drunkenly around the battlefield. After decrewing a cutter once, I had to start dodging it repeatedly while handling its escort. It was going in lazy eternal circles.
  8. I have frequently reduced the total crew in trader's vessels to 0 - it was the way I used to capture trader's cutters before boarding was made a little easier, or when they were escorted and I didn't want to be sitting idle while their escort pounded me capturing them.
  9. Keys are sent every Friday at 22:00 Kiev Time for those whose payments have cleared. Once you have the key, you may use it in Steam to add the game to your library.
  10. The following discusses realistic results, it does not necessarily make for good gameplay. One did not just "remount" a cannon, especially not in battle. You'd need to rig tackle to lift it. Very likely, there would need to be extensive repairs to the mount itself requiring the carpenter and hours of work. And as you said, this all assumes that the tube itself hasn't been damaged in some way. In game, we do need cannon to come back from the dead to some degree, but I too would like to see greater consequences of a successful rake. Right now, I still feel like I don't mind getting raked so much - and that's just wrong. So getting past the rake, let's ask ourselves this question: Historically, what happened when more than one inferior ship "caught" a bigger adversary? What were the tactics employed? Understanding the "correct" and common tactics of that era in facing a larger enemy with superior numbers might give us better insight into what can be done in game to bring about the answer to the question that Admin is asking.
  11. We'll need far more detail than that. Can you please provide a detailed description of all ship types involved, where exactly they were hitting people, etc.
  12. There's ramming, and then there's ramming. The historical situation you cite wasn't one ship ramming another amidships with her bow (e.g. aim for the side of the enemy ship and run into it with every scrap of canvas flying). This action would have caused the loss of every mast you had, and would have done mortal damage to both ships. The common action to take when attempting to board was to come alongside and nudge up against the other ship, with the goal of tangling your bowsprit in the mainchains/shrouds of the other ship. You didn't hit them hard, you nudged against them. In the game currently, nudging against another ship doesn't cause much damage, if any. This is correct. Pounding another ship amidships causes tons of damage to both ships. You may make a good argument that a Lynx ramming Surprise or Constitution (or larger) amidships likely wouldn't cause much damage to the larger ship, while stoving in the bow and likely sinking the smaller ship in short order, however, to say that ships rammed each other all the time without consequence is a completely inaccurate statement. In the situation I just mentioned, such an impact would likely pop all of the seams in that section of hull, which would cause serious flooding at the least.
  13. Exactly. If nothing else, make an arrow with your sails that points in the direction you're turning (until your bow starts to point up into the wind, then reverse the arrow to tack and come across). While this won't be quite as fast as carefully tuning your sail stack to be perfectly in line with the wind as the awesome animated GIF above shows, it's an extremely easy way to gain a lot of maneuverability without sacrificing a lot of attention to it.
  14. Adjusted my response. I just wanted to point out that it was not like the Americans hadn't set their port timers to a good time.
  15. All Most of those ports were captured before the port timer window existed - so they're currently wide open at any time of the day/night.
  16. I think that's a pretty good idea in general to be frank, especially as FedEx Express Instant Shipping starts to get balanced (at least, I hope it'll be balanced).
  17. I prefer historical figures that, while relatively well known, are not so popular as to be immediately taken.
  18. Find a trader's brig or trader's cutter carrying contraband near your starting town. Come up along side her, pound her with whatever guns you have. Profit. You'll have enough in no time to afford 12lb carronades and you're off to the races. As with the others, I'm confused as to how you have your rank but nothing else - sounds like you loaded the PvE server instead of the PvP server. Please recheck that and get back to us. Thanks.
  19. That's fine, just F11 whatever happens immediately after your battle ends and you end up somewhere random. Be as specific as possible as to what happened, what you were doing when it happened, and what led up to what you were doing when it happened.
  20. But to be clear, he could become a pirate "legally" by attacking an AI ship of his own nation right?
  21. The pictures don't show much, really. They show you entering a battle, winning a battle, and then you're out in front of a port. Either way, you'll need to press F11 immediately after exiting the battle. We're not going to be able to help you very much with this problem on the forums. In fact, they do show me something very interesting: You go from 2 days at sea in the first image, to 5 in the last image. This, along with the time stamps on the chat, would lead me to believe that hours passed between the first and last image. I'm not entirely sure what your images are showing.
  22. It's going to possibly run, but I'd guess pretty poorly. Possibly single digit FPS on low. The minimum recommended Intel card is a 5200 I believe. So I'd say there's a 50/50 chance it won't run at all.
  23. I also took the liberty of creating an online application you can use if you'd rather not dig through the list: http://wiredstar.com/nainsults/
  24. Perhaps you should have read the purchase page more carefully? There's even a link to the Sea Trials/Forum rules thread on this forum. Frankly, you could have been totally banned from the game - I'd say 7 days of not being able to use chat is far better than that. The only "Moderator" that can affect your in-game rights is Admin. You were either directly witnessed by Admin committing rules violations, or you were reported by one or more players using the Report feature in Chat, whereupon Admin reviewed your behavior and found it wanting. I'll agree, as we move towards Early Access, that the rules need to be posted more prominently, however, this is an early Alpha Test, and I don't think it too much to ask that participants in the test treat each other with basic respect and restraint. Edit - As to appeals, I'm assuming you're one of the people listed in Tribunal as having recently received chat bans. If you'd like to appeal your ban, you may do so by responding to that post with your in-game name, and why you think your sentence was too harsh. I might recommend an apology as well - heartfelt apologies sometimes can have a positive effect towards reducing a sanction. Edit 2 - I didn't realize the Tribunal Thread was locked. Any appeal or apology may be sent to "Admin" via PM.
  25. Are you clicking Leave Battle or Surrender? What you're describing isn't possible, unless you're clicking Surrender to leave the battle.
