  1. Just a quick side-note - Mods are absolutely unable to do anything except for moderate chat. We have no tools regarding assets, etc. That's up to Ink and the awesome Dev team.
  2. I think I'd be ok with producing 6th rates without a yard. Once you go up to 5th rates, it's time to own a shipyard. While I'm sure larger ships were careened or repaired without a yard from time to time, building them without a perfect surface on which to lay the keel probably didn't happen.
  3. Were you using family sharing?
  4. Please try reinstalling the game. If that doesn't work, post here again. Thanks.
  5. Generally, the requirement is that the post is not straight spam. That said, moderators are volunteers who are uncompensated. Every minute spent trolling the forums for unaccepted posts or handling anti-social flareups is a minute we can't spend playing the game, with our families, making dinner, working, etc. The Developers are extremely busy writing features, working on new ships, and fixing bugs, so the moderators are nice enough to perform a lot of very unthankful and unappreciated drudge work to let them spend more time on the important things. While I understand new posters are excited to start participating, a little bit of patience must be expected in approval of their first couple of posts. Thanks!
  6. Next time, press M and tell your cutters to bugger off (escape) when they've outlived their usefulness (you could also just order them to take down the sails instead). That will save you from them sinking your capture targets. As to the situation, that sounds really odd. Hopefully with your F11 reports the developers can make sense of what is going on.
  7. Please F11 those instances, thank you!
  8. Err, no. It also benefits more fair fights. We used to have 10 minute timers. People could come from hundreds of miles away to join the fight. The result was the biggest group in the area got to win with overwhelming numbers. So we went to 5 minute timers. Now, you had to be a lot closer to aid a friend, but you could still come from well over the horizon to join a battle. Again, the result was the biggest group in the area got to apply overwhelming numbers. Now, timers are 2 minutes. This means you need to be nearly in sight of a battle starting to enter it. This is a good thing. This means if you want to "gank" with overwhelming numbers, you have to sail fairly close together - identifying your group and its numbers to everyone in the immediate area. Those people now can counter tag, run, etc. well knowing what the fight will look like. Similarly, if I'm out solo trying to find targets, and I see someone sailing all by themselves, I can take a quick look around and understand immediately what the likely odds will be. I can attack in confidence that the person I attacked isn't going to call in 20 friends from all over the Antilles to help them out. This makes for far more fair fights and understandable risks. Yes, you can't get reinforcements from hundreds of miles away, but neither can they. If you want to fight with a bunch of friends, you're going to have to stay relatively close to each other - just as in real life. This is a great change.
  9. This isn't an FPS, nor is it mean to be anything like an arena game (it was an arena game early in testing to flesh out the combat mechanics - attendance died out to nearly nothing over time because everyone earned their Santi and had nothing left to do.
  10. That also isn't allowed. Please be respectful to fellow Captains and Staff. Thanks! Now let's get back on topic folks.
  11. We do NOT need instant, unlimited teleports. There should be no problem in creating an outpost in a hotspot if you want a lot of PvP in a short time. If you don't have the time to sail, stay in a local area that has the game activities that you need. The world is supposed to be large, instant, unlimited teleport kills that.
  12. Only shipyards. This is a multiplayer game sir. One person isn't supposed to be able to do it all. Team up with some other people and rule the market!
  13. Content is a vicious cycle. People that hang around only for new content are the same people which rapidly tire of not getting a new shiny and leave. I agree, new content draws people, but it won't actually draw the right people for the game. Those people are playing steadily despite no new ships, etc. New content, however, does not apply to things like bug fixes and mechanics adjustments - in those cases, discouraged people can be enticed to come back if their headaches are removed. Why the rush? I'm just barely in a Cerberus and having a great time. If the next rank fast is what you're seeking, what will you do when you run out of ranks? My recommendation is to find something to do other than grind XP, something fun that you enjoy, or you'll be a "no longer plays" statistic in no time.
  14. Let them keep at it. They're on the way to an XP reset with enough green on green kills.
  15. Slamz has very good points. The steps taken to hide these actions indicate malice and forethought. Taking all of those steps shows intent. Find the original source account for the gold, XP reset.
  16. The Developers have this issue under investigation and a rule is being devised. Expect more information on this issue very soon.
  17. So at top rank I sail a cutter and have a Santissima pet (yes, this happened). I sail around out of range while my Santi pummels you. It's just not a great thing for the game. With the exception of the PvE server, this game is supposed to be PvP oriented. Having a mechanic that encourages PvE fighting just doesn't make sense.
  18. I am personally against having NPC "Pets". People always travel with them, battles tend to turn into who can bring the most/best combination of pets, instead of a test of skills between two players. This age was most often marked by small one on one battles. Most warships that were not on blockade duty just didn't normally sail around with two or three other ships with them. We've had the ability to have higher level pets in the past and it simply was not fun in my opinion.
  19. There is already a very long and healthy topic on this - http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8263-petition-remove-port-capture-windows/ . Please continue your ideas in that topic. Thank you.
  20. I've begun issuing warnings for off topic posts in this thread. Stick to the main topic - is creating an alt to pull a flag and block a port battle ok? If not, what should be the punishment? And what, if any, mechanics might help to stop this from happening again. Port Battle timers are off topic. Who it might have been is off topic. Who did or did not succeed at various attacks is off topic. Stick to the topic. The Moderation team is currently discussing this issue with Admin, please be patient for a response as they're busting their buns to get this week's scheduled patch out.
  21. Map resets can only be done with Asset wipes as well. Would you like your assets wiped every month?
  22. This is being addressed as rapidly as possible. Please be patient.
  23. Please see: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/11051-ship-flipping-is-way-too-common-and-easy I agree, ships flip over far too easily right now. Hopefully there will be a fix in the near future.
  24. Tomms is correct. The way to report abusive chat is by reporting the person in game. Thank you.
  25. Because due to the sped up open world speed, you would never have known the battle was there in the first place. Hiding the battle was implemented for that reason - unfortunately that exposed the newest exploit.
