  1. Maybe the existing ports economy and buildings availability can be modelled after the real counterparts ? Such was deep water shipyards, main resources, naval bases, trade hub ? So each port is unique in its own way.
  2. If your broadside is higher it shouldn't be an issue to sweep the enemy deck with grape. It works perfectly. Same height or higher, example a Privateer versus a Snow - Take the man figures as reference, aim at should height. Imagine "shotgun" cloud spray. With the Boarding focus there's more crew amassed.
  3. Yes nothing like a good boarding whistle ruse to make them bunch up xD
  4. Well, it makes the crew focus Choice more important. I kind of imagine a deck full of activity, guns roaring and all that jazz, and suddenly a beat to arms for boarding action. Marines setup in their stations, open deck crews get their melee weapon crates, etc. Instead of everyone being already to attention. I'd still enjoy the musketry being used indirectly and marines using shots once the ships come as close as 80 paces . Would give a little bit more use for marines instead of being boarding only.

  6. I want the change announced by the Devs to test it out and then discuss how it can be improved. Vote was specifically for this suggestion about slots.
  7. The Preparation change is very welcome. The basic wood thickness changes ( hopefully the ship innate characteristics makes up for this ) seem too drastic but sure let's test them out.
  8. The Devs want to make pirates as viable a choice as any nation, so stop coming up with "let's destroy them" suggestions.
  9. Warships were designed also taking into account the guns that it would carry and the mass that would be present at the broadsides. Volume, weight, etc, with margins of course. Also remember ship design space in the gun decks also. An 18 pounder would recoil 3 meters when harnessed.

  13. I find it hard to believe it happens that exact way, sorry. Upon leaving port or logging in there is a 120 seconds timer to Join a Battle. The battle timer is 118 seconds rendering impossible to exit a port to join a battle or logging back in to join a battle. What is happening, can be a lot of things: - the bait guy attacks and reset the counter once or twice until his buddies are ready to join ? - his buddies are hiding within a nearby shallows cove ? ( I do it often and you won't believe the amount of ppl that pass without noticing ) In any case there is no invisibility involved. All ships are visible if they are in game. Please can you explain the situation better ?

Maybe true but the combats I had against many US based folks, and including a duel versus a California fellow did not show any problems related to ping or latency and usually goes totally smooth. Can't tell the difference between fighting them and the EU based folk. Social aspect always suffers with a merge. I guess PvP2 has its own community that might be shaken a bit with a eventual merge

  24. oops, thought I did I really want to test the patch first and then see how can we tweak it. As it stands now it is stale so any change is better, given the devs are bringing it let's wait, test and then come back to the posts ( which i do a lot ).
