I find very silly that anyone would sit for more than 15 minutes waiting for anyone that is inside a battle or eventually on result screen. Just sail to another area and do whatever. Staying there sitting for "hours" IS YOUR CHOICE and now you blame everyone else for it !?!?!? Actually going "nuts" about it and persisting in "wanting to force players to be trapped in game" is borderline "psychiatric disorder".

sounds like the best plan

Nash says it all. Reputation is everything.

Because the squadrons are now sailing in close proximity. A squadron with larger numbers could effectively, with the 5 minutes, set a sweeping pattern in wider areas. You had the same amount of ganks before and actually you could be ganked out of "invisibility" as Prater posts. Actually there was so much "bait play" that most people decided not even to attack a 1v1 due to fear of the 5 minutes. I know it. Was got many times like that. Go into a 1v1 and suddenly was trapped in battle and 5 more joined in the last 5 seconds, simply because that was the normal operational mode - we have time, let the tagger be the bait, set a blindfold in the victim ( in battle, can't see OW ) and then jump out of port, come out of the far horizon and BAAAAAAM, invisible gank achievement unlocked...again

Bless the Carronade chest sized Mermaids, he is actually considering it !!! Huzzah boyz ! A new curse is coming to the high seas !

I'm pretty sure that this one is a Bug.

Odd. Only situation I've seen this happen was with two simultaneous tags coincidently at the very same second and yes one of us ( me ) got alone. Bless the good ol'Hyena, escaping was easy and making them gankers drink my wake. -
Ah ! But you know, voting rights won't come cheap. A player will have to prove himself in the heat of combat to win the right to vote. I bet my left hook and the old parrot on my shoulder most of the "power gamer" captains won't even get close to the mark. Stand fast sir. Join a freebooter life. Be a honest pirate.

Is this about social aspect of the game or about the box coded mechanics about Diplomacy ? Get your bearing captain

For me a trader has no rank. Yesterday intercepted a midshipman on a trader snow. Eventually he went away safe ( had a phonecall and called the battle off ). Now you wonder... you bastard pirate... ... yes, he actually was the alt of a high rank officer on a national navy. Traders have no rank, that's my first rule.

Always reminds me of the bullies telling me why did I bring a "tiny" ship. I just sneer and banter. In the end it is a hobby and when I think I'm darn good at it... I find someone which is way better and I go very happy with being able to learn something new. Being a hobby means fun, joy of learning and trying all possibilities. Pretty much like building a model kit. Yeah not a fan of ladders as well. The only ladder I really like is the Storm of War for Cliffs of Dover. Records your sorties and victories. Once you die ( by aerial death, crash death etc, ) all is wiped out and you start a brand new life.

It's a hobby.

Nice interview gamelabs :)
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Hethwill, the Red Duke's topic in Tavern
Without sailing from point A to B there's no chance for a raider to intercept enemy shipping. There's no possibility for a fleet to get engaged in the high seas and turn the tide of a war. There's no possibility of getting lost and also no possibility of discovering new places. This is only a small part of what wouldn't be possible to achieve without sailing. Exploration is a necessity in the early stage of the game. To go far away to open outposts in free ports. Then sail around that area to know the landmarks, the coastline, and the shallows. Takes time but will be highly useful many many times. A battle lasts 90 minutes at most. A trade run in home waters usually takes less than 30. All seven ports around capital have ALL resources and they are 5 to 15 minutes away. So you travel more than you fight. -

Surrender did not exist
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Skully's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
There were two big ammendments to the Articles of War, right at the Revolutionairy Wars and at the Peace of Amiens. Also there were various common international rules, one of them being warning shots versus transports and traders, second being purposedly ramming and crossing athwart and provoke catastrophic loss of life. Can you play by these simple rules or everything must be total war ? -

Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Pagan Pete's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Actually as all PvE missions are versus pirates ( and events as well ) I would say the perk might be quite useful if the player plays more missions than pvp But the discussion in the thread is not about nitpicking but about advance discussion on changes. -
Privateer needs a bow gun
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Bach's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
We have no wind strengths to play with. Many schooners and brigs and corvettes were caught up by bigger ships because of that. Sadly... ... we do not have variation yet. -
Totally correct.

Had the same thought but given quite a stable community and in general well mannered I think the idea could be tested once. Unlike the poll to choose the next focus a more or less specific topics such as: npc fleets, wind strengths, etc. Granted Devs sometimes have no time to guide that information towards the forumites but with some guidelines and directives the Mods could do this.
