Plans for Reputation and Sailing changes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
No idea why I was quoted. Do i have to look to the game through your lenses ? I have no clue what you are talking about in half that post, nor do I care. I have numbers of players info / ping and fps turned off. I do pay more attention to the simulation than to the mmo aspect. Sorry man, can't help it. And been involved in good fights, but then i'm EU timezone. And EU timezone has the bulk of players it seems. -

This is what I talk about. Many many thanks in order to make it work. -
You must read the text. Your orders are clear. I hope you read all the text, but in sum... Damage enemy ships. Reach port.

Plans for Reputation and Sailing changes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Time told that people only read what they want. Half the text becomes void when it doesn't suit purpose. I applaud ANY and ALL game designs that block certain activities. GJ DEVS Now give me more age of sail mechanics. That's what i'm here for. High winds and low winds next -
Was the entire point but at least I know it.

how to improve BOARDING
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Duc De Brabant's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Sounds about okay Say 100 marines muskets, firing one volley... by RL statistics i'd say 16% hits is pretty darn good... even for Danish or United States navies marines standards in 1812... 😮 ( considered the best at that point in time ). Given you have accuracy bonus from shooting book i'd guess one can accept the increased perfect shots. Napoleonic wars ratio of shots per kill is 1:250 / 1:300 depending on which engagement you look at. Shooting at sea is very different from shooting in land, even the drills are different. For a GAMIFICATION of reality i'd say is pretty darn good. -

Ofc you do. And time did tell. I'm looking more forward to wind implementation. That's age of sail mechanics the meta games ain't, is just mmo bling bling. -

Yes, of course. And more exploitable. -

Yep. You are fighting for the same clan/nation/flag. Works for 1 account, works for 20. You will block access to enemy port to the attacker player though. -
how to improve BOARDING
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Duc De Brabant's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You need specialized naval infantry, marines, whatever, to have the best drill with muskets. Add Marines books, try with Marines 5, then Marines 10, then Marines 15, with the same amount of Muskets and reply with the amount of kills. Much appreciated. -

You will be joining a battle, your karma will drop for the nation you joined battle against. You won't be able to enter port of that nation. Your alt attacked, hence karma will drop as well. -

New Feature Proposals - Combat
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
During BATTLE - Guns repair proposal Guns are repaired during Hull repairs Given the %% of Hull that can be repaired, technically in some situations it will bring back a ship from the dead to fairly "full" condition after two cycles with full guns. ------ My proposal is to NOT include Guns in the repair cycles. Any gun lost during the combat stays lost. Serves as balance for the repair mechanic. Very long battles will see vessels reduced to token batteries. This is proper. Very short battles reliant on repair books and modules will still be fierce and contested. Gun loss is somewhat tied to the woods used as i experience it. As I see it is one more factor to take into account when selecting which woods to use. -
Periodic Resets

Totally biased poll options. I'd vote the last one but the text puts me off. I vote no but not for the reasons stated the option. -

thought the game is about clans and not nations !?... -

side note: I have the DLC but you will find a reviewer with over 30k hours, and those hours only started to count after steam EA release. second note: not everyone on the war server expects pvp when they don't want pvp. This has been discussed to nausea - some clans in pvp server just want to do whatever grind they need so they get access to their favourite game mode - "trafalgar battles" aka. port battles. Others just want OW pvp. Others just want arena modes. Is too much and wide diversity in "needs" and "wants" to state something as - "vast majority of players" - when there's nothing like that. We all here for different reasons and hoping for different results. Devs have their own vision and may well use some community ideas as part of their design process, which they did many times over and over. Thing is, we do not order them around nor do we have that authority no matter how many hours we have in game. They are the true decision makers and I, as a player, must make a decision after many of the changes - do I love the game or do I simply love the idea of the game. Some players are exceptionally good no matter the changes made to the game. Others are only good as long as some mechanics stay. I'll echo admin on this, in the end 90% of us are mere average whilel we like to think ourselves as adept, and some even pros. And we pound our chests calling rank, hours spent, and spew bile in chats just to prove we are "cool and pro". Meanwhile the really efficient players are out there playing the game, adjusting and winning even with loki ships against meta ships. And I can only awe and try to learn from them and undertand that it doesn't necessarily starts nor ends with what "vast majority of players" think important. -
@Thonys Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts is still not running under steam. Is XSolla launcher.

True, if you have an outpost near. Devs have data, we can only speculate. -

Is not silly. Is just another point of view that doesn't correlate to yours. Hating a hobby is silly. Is a hobby, you can stop and start whenever you want. Hating a hobby is ridicule yourself I am here for the historic period, the emulation of age of sail stories, and the stunning visuals to boot with it. Doesn't matter if I log on War server or on Peace server. You are here for the reasons you yourself present. That's invaluable... to you. And for the devs for sure appreciative of you being here. Plus many player are here since alpha, that's way more than 50k hours, I can assure you. Just a tip i learned in a tavern in Mortimer Town long ago - do not take other captains by your own standards. Not everyone drink from the same cup. We all here and enjoy the game, the same game rules and mechanics, for different reasons. Snappy salute. -
Dear Admin
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Runic's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
There's a big difference in loving "the idea of a game" and really liking "the game" as is, with all development done. Is it a reason to hate ? After 10,000 hours ? Gimme a break... What you show is that you didn't play a single one of those ten thousand hours nor your objective was to enjoy the game, but to win and post crap in the game forum. Half don't even care about the theme of the game anyway... nor appreciate every single modelled ship, both visually and every single rig line coded and whatever the devs do. All they want is to win, and the easier the more exploitable the better. And on top to put salt on everything, make sure it gets registered on chats and the more reports the better. That's the 50k hours "I deserve !" mmo player in NA. I'm sorry for those with 50k hours that are here for the history, the entire theme around the game and that can appreciate the game, no matter what server. Majority are silent in public shame part of forums but very active in what counts. -
Teleport to Portbattle
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Knuddel's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Peace Server has the teleport but no Flag. War Server has Flag but no teleport. IMO it has worked okay on both servers so far. Regarding the "hurry up!" - Is this a very specific personal request or are you honestly and genuinely asking this for the benefit of all ? Asking for a friend with interests in a certain port which may or may have not screened a certain clan out of a PB. Nevermind, no need to answer. I was expecting the teleport to PB to be implemented in the War Server at the same time as the Flags. So my question is on another note - do the devs have enough data that support not having it implemented in WAR server ? Or is just a question of not yet enough data to make a decision. -
FLEET PRACTICE RETURN!

I'm not suggesting anything. I'm stating what some groups do already. just take it as is, nothing against your idea. chill. -
FLEET PRACTICE RETURN!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Raxius's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
They fight like they would any other enemy. They cannot get better if they don't. They sink, they lose ships, they get a feeling of what the game really is and embrace it. And they get better at it. There's no alt meta gaming. They are not alts, they are unique players that are in a different nation so they can fight their friends and learn. -
FLEET PRACTICE RETURN!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Raxius's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Some clans have their sister clans ( recruitment entry levels and even team Bs ) in enemy nation ( recruits will have either Forger DLC or willingness to restart character ). Probation period minimum 30 days ( as per DLC ) They DO fight each other to the death and train, single, squadron and fleet actions. They take it serious and not as means to "farm". Their entire objective is to help the recruits and overall have their practice with game loss.
