Remove Ship Notes for PvP Marks.
Palatinose replied to Sunleader's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Vazco I agree to much you are saying - Rvr wise. I just dont on these rare skill books. One just doesnt need them. And the basic books which are available for combat marks (or something like an old flag officer - which isnt too rare either) is for sure enough. Its totally fine starting to pvp in those than grinding weeks and month, finally get them and still get beaten by more skilled players. Saw too many doing it and be frustrated. -
Remove Ship Notes for PvP Marks.
Palatinose replied to Sunleader's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The ships are not any problem at all! If u are anew player, just ask in nation chat for a teak teak Trinc, Conny, Endymion. Fit them with Basic upgrades and they still are fine ships. Take some mates, sail to a capital or around la Tortue and have fun. Yes u will sink in the beginning. But those basic but still fine ships work pretty well. The basic skill books are also available without pvp marks. Optimized rudder powder monkeys carpenter. All fine stuff one can easily work with. -
Leeway warning! Important!
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I'm not too sure about how much importance is given to the rudder position while tacking with leeways added. But what I'm certain of is that I would have turned the rudder to portside when sailing backwards with the intention to head to starboard...- 187 replies

Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I sold mine for 200-250k. I only pvp, therefore this is my only income. Check capitals (in a traders lynx) or crowded freetowns like La Tortue, Tumbado or Aves perhaps. Not sure about ppl selling them now, after the Wasa is pvp mark achievable only as well as 1st rates. Could be prices have risen. -

@Tac what do you mean? U're saying inside a nations capital zone (not reinforcement but capital area) u cannot attack a foe who is not in this nation? Well whats your opinion on how to fix it? I often cant argue in a greater context. Would be nice to get some input here. -
Der neueste Einfall der DEVS
Palatinose replied to Georg Fromm's topic in Naval Action - German language
Jetzt mal ohne Nationaldenken. -

Truely, the harm is done as soon as the enemy gets into a first battle. Though sometimes, imagine it or not, the enemy really wants to fight you. I do coastguarding myself sometimes. The key is: give the enemy the slightest spark of hope they can win and they will fight. If your only intention is to counter-gank, to get your vengeance for the commited gank, you will fail in 90% of the cases. Therefore one has to understand, that the so called gankers, mostly are dedicated pvpers, who search for proper fights.* It's not that I do not understand the "they come to our capital - let's show them superiority" -attitude. It just doesn't work. Never has. *yes there are exceptions!! -
okay sorry then. won't talk any further on topics i ain't got no clue of. think first write second

Battle of Port

For the time of grinding hostility one can also invite members (not the creator) of other clans to ones own clan. Not a long run solution, but working fine. -
read the chat log. imo it was the case.

Palatinose replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
We - the "Federation of Gankers and Griefers" - camp any spot, where there are the most players. This is mainly independent from new players. The mechanics are there and it is the task of each nation to inform every national player to know these mechanics. If one knows the mechs, there's no room for the FOGG to do what you accuse them to do. With the safe zone mechanics alive, your argument of pvp available everywhere is just invalid. If one does it right, you will have the the enemy sail behind you and sadly turning around when you enter the immediatly closing mission. Define new player. Becaus thats not what this is about. You can manage to rank up in quite a short time, therefore - it's a guess - 80-90% of the active player base are at max rank. Though this doesn't mean they know much about the game or are good at it, they are not new. We will always have a gap between those who play a lot and spent most of their time in pvp and thos that only wnat to shoot AI wanting to sail the big boats because the sound of a 42pd roars like nothing else. Yes you are right there are people sinking Navy Brigs, Snows and so on for the sake of pvp marks. But thats not the majority. Nontheless pvp is found mainly near capitals. Sometimes the capitals' captains sail out to defend their capital, or hunters of different nations attack each other, nationals joining one side for the sake of pvp. -

Approval to PenguPirate on the price matter. Not the way to go. This ship should just not be the only option on the OW (except for those that refuse to go with this meta anyways). Let's see how todays fixes turn out on OW and in combat. -
Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
Palatinose replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
@Peiper if i understood that correctly, one can now convert pve to pvp marks and therefore achieve a wasa without doing any pvp? Furthermore my advice would be not to use AI fleet ships at all. It prevents u from focusing on ur own skills in combat. But thats just my opinion. -
Quick idea on balancing
Palatinose replied to Liq's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
If it was rated a 3rd rate, with a decently worse sailing profile and the turn rate nerfed a bit, it was just fine. Skill books that are rate dependend (Hammocks, Marines, Opt. Rudder...) make it better than the Bellona. except for mast thickness there is no need to sail the former queen of the open world atm. OR: adjust broadside weight and keep it as a fourth. Tottally agree with Liq this inbetween thingy sucks Edit: @Cortez u cant just come in bigger ships and sink it because it will just sail away close hauled. -

Heard the Galapagos Islands are not to far, once the break trough is done. Methinks Vazco will consider it a new job assignment to become a biologist after he's done engineering for his Majesty. Imagine the new species to be discovered (and all the rare creatures to be sold to the wealthy money bags sitting inside their protected areas, without knowing how to spend their gold). Good luck Poland o/ -

Diplomatic Proposition from the French EDR clan in Louisiana
Palatinose replied to Aquillas's topic in Caribbean News
Think you misunderstood me here Louis. I speak of open world battles in which you rig-kill your opponents to death from leewards. And yeah you don't do that (and can't) in a pb, because it involves running from your opponent. One simply cant do that in a portbattle. Never (and no Swede in a pb ever) sailed a LO/WO Victory with Navy Hull Refit and Cartahena (as this would be the "FULL thickness" ship). And thanks for insulting me. Coming from you, it's kinda a compliment.
