  1. In the final UI, it would be nice to see large collision leaks start flashing to catch the player's attention and communicate urgency. I've also noticed some possible latency issues with flooding. Yesterday my yacht was rammed by a frigate. As usual, there is no indication of a leak for several seconds. Then BAM, I'm halfway sunk in an instant. Ping 100-300.
  2. Half of your gunnery arc isn't covering the target.
  3. Whether you want PvP or PvE, all you have to do is take day-sails out of Vieques. Trying to do econ in an environment of port battles, on the other hand, is probably gonna require a LOT of voyaging.
  4. You should only fire a broadside when the transparent gunnery arcs have had time to become narrow and focused. Try to refrain from moving your reticule around, especially while turning, as this prevents your gunners from focusing. It's a very irritating feature, generally speaking, but one can hardly complain when our guns are so accurate otherwise.
  5. If you use Unlocked Auto mode, each shot from a broadside will strike as close to the reticule as possible.
  6. She can't be caught by SoLs now, to my knowledge, and was never as fast as Trinc.
  7. The 'super-Connie' concern has very little to do with HP. It's speed that counts. A fast Connie wipes the sea clean of all other frigates, regardless of what the exact HP total is, because she carries 15 24-pounders. Then no one can have fun PvP until they grind to that level.
  8. If it were up to me, pirates would have permadeath, coupled with ultra-fast progression. Either that, or progression based purely on big gold hauls and victories over higher-BR vessels. They shouldn't have to worry about XP and such.
  9. Самые упорные враги в истории Европы, учитывая количество отдельных войн? Испания-Швеция и Дания-Голандия намного разумнее.
  10. We're supposed to be talking about features to cut. It's a simple concept. Cut. Not improve or scale back. And the weather is so foggy for testing only. They heard us the first 80,000 times we complained about it.
  11. Well of course they were heading at the enemy formation directly. There was no other way to do it, and the approach lasted hours. The bow of a ship is a narrow target, and it's easy for shot to glance off the thick bulwark there. Raking fire has to be at relatively close range to be effective, and it still requires a lot of accuracy and discipline, just like in the game.
  12. Nothing ever gets settled once and for all by polls.
  13. Since the elephant in the room is Constitution, I should point out that she doesn't need to be be eco-balanced. She needs to have the big fat eco-subsidies cut, since that ship is like three times cheaper than she was historically.
  14. I totally agree. Matchmaker should pay no attention to smaller ships until the SoLs are as even as possible. THEN add in the frigates. Maybe even give SoLs a BR boost for matchmaking purposes only. But wait guys, this has nothing to do with removing bad features. This the thread where we cut broken things, not improve them.
  15. What, no one's going to come out and accuse Pagan Pete of being a pirate hater who wants to force everyone to play a national? Man, I should have changed my avatar to the jolly roger every time I posted about that.
  16. Crafting notes, reinforcements and honor kills aren't very good features, but they would leave big holes if removed. And they aren't bad features; they just feel like they're in proof of concept stage. It's hard to take a ruthless Valve-like cut-the-fat approach with NA because everything is focused around the core gameplay.
  17. Shit guys, I was all excited to finish in the mid-4000s, having passed over a 1,000 bots since my late and negligent start off Spain. But either the plotted course takes currents into account, or the lines isn't accurate, because I ran aground overnight and dropped down several hundred places. Oh well.
  18. The devs say that broadsides can't be any closer to simultaneous than they are now, without devoting tons of resources to overhauling the sound system. And really, only a brand-new ship could fire a simultaneous broadside anyhow, as it put a lot of stress on the timbers.
  19. Crew skill levels is just about the only way to make an honor system work, for example. Players won't let their best seamen desert.
  20. I'm all for moving the bulk of module and repair effects to Officer Skills. But the game should remain skill-based. If NA was a singleplayer RPG, this idea would have its day in the sun.
  21. 5 feet long is huuuuge. Can space for servos really be a problem at that scale? (I have no idea how it works, do you manipulate the braces using motors beneath the gundecks?) From that list, I would recommend Constellation in her Quasi-War configuration. Purely for aesthetic reasons, although I suspect our tastes differ, if you're willing to even consider the early American 74s. If it were me, I would choose a privateer clipper like Prince de Neufchatel, or one of the Continental Navy frigates like Randolph. The 1770s were a sweet spot for vessel appearance, in my opinion, with attractive stanchions and rails instead of quarterdeck barricades, and tasteful amounts of adornment.
  22. Congratulations on a fine Reductio ad absurdum. Pity you couldn't find a better use for your 4th post... The wind blows at a perfectly constant speed that must be around 30 knots, while everyone flies their royals. Certainly no danger of realism breaking out.
  23. Turns out this company actually ran a Pirates of the Caribbean race once, but the soulless jackasses who are into this sort of thing didn't play it because the ships were too slow.
  24. This happens every time there's a new feature. To test storm battles we had them appear way too often. To test AI allies they were made cheap and easily available. The only reason there's so much fog is to gather data on it and find bugs.
  25. Well, almost. Are you going to implement the corrected sail setting order that I sent you? It solves the confusing behavior of Battle Sails transitions and improves realism and aesthetics, especially for brigs and staysails. Cerberus, Belle Poule, Lynx, Snow, Pickle, Merc, Renommee, Constitution, Cherub Surprise, Trincomalee, Santi, Cutter, Brig Victory, Pavel, Niagara, Bellona
