  1. I think this is close to the mark. Everything centered around content only 20% of the players actively contribute to just didn't work. Making marks, BPs and mods reliant on a RVR mark system is clearly not the way to go. Honestly the version of the game pre-fine woods with flag pulls, abundant resources and simple/quick crafting was definitely the way to go. RVR felt less rigid and more casual/organic and honestly the thrill of having a flag pulled on you and marshaling up a fleet was one that has not been replicated since. Simply put, it was more fun. Bring a version of that back with a few twists and folks will return and continue to play. We might even recommend it 😳
  2. You of all people should know how many battles I've been in. I enjoy doing RVR, but the time commitment is not worth the payoff. Sail an hour or 2, grind random AI fleets for 3 hours, sail back another hour. Fight an empty PB the next day and receive marks. Boring.
  3. If anything RVR needs to be less important. Since I stopped doing it the game has been 20x more enjoyable.
  4. Sure sounds like your blaming the community here, either we push new players away or we steer the game development in directions you don't want to take. This is unfortunate. Frankly I don't think the game is done just yet, but perhaps you do. Merge the servers. Ease up on the ship grind. Bring back lord protector with a few twists and people will return.
  5. I'm simply eye balling based off population numbers. Care to release one of those charts that you did before the wipe? Frankly you can't fault people for having opinions and not recommending your product. It's not their responsibility to drive new players into the game, that's what advertising is for. I have about 3000 hours in the game myself and the only reason I keep sticking around is the people. Welcome to the realm of public opinion.
  6. Tournament is set. Need people to show up.
  7. This whole conversation today strikes me as odd. @admin says it's fault of the community for not recommending the game and no new purchases = fewer players on the servers, but there is no mention of why this game has sold over 100k copies and 18months later it's down to roughly 2000 active players daily (that's being generous). That's lower than a 5% retention rate. Can we perhaps address why this game has such a poor retention rate instead of blaming the community for not recommending this game enough? Why did those players leave? Why is the new player grind so difficult? Blaming your community is a pretty good way of making sure your loyal fans don't continue to purchase your titles. Just a thought. This game has some of the most fanatical and loyal fans that I've ever encountered, despite almost every one knowing and understanding that NA has issues and we're nowhere close to the final form of the game. A lot of these people have purchased multiple copies of this game from you and participate in the forums that is far more active than the actual game. Dismissing them and saying NA is basically at the end of it's life because we don't "recommend" it enough is bullshit and a cop out. Solve these questions and perhaps the game will become one that we CAN recommend. PS - it's obvious from your posts that the root of everything here is money. You've been presented with numerous plans over the years as to how to increase the monetization of the game. Sell Forged Paper transfers for RL money, sell server transfers for money, sell paints, pennants, ship name changes.....shit even sell certain ships or packs. None of this has been done. Half of global right now would probably purchase another set of forged papers off you tomorrow if it you made it happen. I'm sure EU would do the same.
  8. Quite frankly, in it's current state the game isn't really all that recommendable for new people. You replied to a post of mine about the new player experience and a new US based clan that petty much all quit. These players bought the game during the steam sale based off of good reviews (via a streamer) and then they ended up quitting due to the new player experience, or lack of one I should say. If someone asked me today if I should purchase the game, I'd probably tell them no also. We have too many servers, not enough players to fill them and the grind/time investment to get into this game is just too damn high. The only way to fix the problem of players not recommending your game on steam is to give them a game worth recommending.
  9. I'll come up with a final set of rules and restrictions tomorrow, but so far this is what I'm thinking. 3v3 Tourney - 500 BR max. You MUST have 3 players - Repairs: 1 Hull, 2 rig. This will make the matches quicker, more decisive and de-masting a little less effective. - Multiple streamers. I put out some feelers to @Jeheil and I'll probably use @JobaSet. - Plan for 1 afternoon/evening a weekend, for a couple weeks. Possible makeup days during the week to sync up schedules. - streamers will be refs and help moderate. Ref word will be final. Use 2 hull repairs and they will DQ you. - no running and excessive kiting. - 1 and done knockouts. Players can tap out to save ships if they want. 1v1 Tourney - Surprises only. We don't have the time, inclination or population to match people up in ships. Everyone should already have a slot of 2 open on the suprise anyway. - Same rules as above to save on time. Pickle FFA Melee - everyone bring a pickle. no teams, no rules, last man standing.
  10. Age of Dreadnoughts......hmm curious
  11. Really? Because we showed up outside CDA yesterday and you guys went right back in and logged off. Then we ground down a little hostility with impunity.
  12. Further thoughts - 3v3 - max of 500 BR. 4th rates allowed and you MUST have 3 players. Repairs - A couple options. Limit 2 hull and 2 rig each ship. 1 Hull/Rig each. Say screw it and just bring as much as you want and take the penalty. Only bringing rig repairs. No repairs. what does the peanut gallery thing? Ships - Vanilla or no? hard to enforce not using mods. Duels outside Navasse. We will setup some sort of outlaw battle. Keep an eye on people "fleeing" too much since this is not the duel room and we do not have the circle of death. EU guys that want to come over let us know IN advance and we'll coordinate ships. 1v1 Duels - Koltes and KoC in a wappen needs to happen. I'm thinking 1v1 surprises only for the rest. Everyone should have a slot or 2 unlocked. Finale - Pickle outlaw battle FFA melee. Teams will only consist of players in the same nation. no god damn alts. Clans can field multiple teams.
  13. Yup. I'll be apart of a team also if @Coraline Vodka and @Wraith can be bothered.
  14. I can help with ships for the EU guys. Mods and slots of course will be up to the users. Baby steps. Positivity please. Legends is months out and we need something to do in the meantime.
  15. Liquicity will have to bend the knee for a ship. Just some observations from people that I liked. - Limit repairs to the team in battle. for example a 3v3 the team gets 5 or 6. if a team goes over they get disqualified and adios. Have the 3v3 be 3 of the same ship type? 3 surps vs 3 surps or whatever. 50/50 on this. Just like the tourney of the hand, we'll have a melee at the end to act as a crescendo. Outlaw battle FFA pickle melee.
  16. Only issue with that is it's open for 30mins. Could we expect people not to tamper?
  17. Official Match Info - 3v3 Tourney - 500 BR max. You MUST have 3 players - Repairs: 1 Hull, 2 rig, 100 rum. - no running and excessive kiting. - Lose and you're out. - players can tap out if necessary. - Replace more than 100 crew, use 2 hull repairs and you will be disqualified. 1v1 Tourney - Surprises only. - Same rules as above Pickle FFA Melee - everyone bring a pickle. no teams, no rules, last man standing. Matches will start next weekend the 19th and will be scheduled based on streamer and teams. They will be done via outlaw battle if available or the 2 teams will tag each other. Teams Signed Up - 3v3 - Team WO - King of Crowns, Rabmando, Stingray005 Team Fire and Fury (VCO) - Coraline Vodka, Wraith, Christendom Team "ALL BLACKS" - Koltes, Pelennor, Jean Pual Vilvenue 1v1 - Koltes
  18. Been giving the health of the server a bit of thought and it seems like we need something to do that doesn't involve taking empty port battles, attacking noobs outside of capitals and talking trash in global chat. While we can't fix most of the issues that ails the game we can perhaps give it a little bit of an injection of fun in the form of player driven content. So far the most successful player created event was the PVP tournament over on EU several months ago. Let's try and recreate it here. Maybe take a little bit of our hostility out on each other and not have to sail around for hours to do so. So I'm officially proposing the.... The PVP Global Duel Tournament Preliminary thoughts - Run a couple variations. 1v1s, 3v3s and maybe even 5v5s time and interest pending Main event will of course be @King of Crowns and @koltes wappen duel. Time for both of you to nut up or shut up about it in global. Admin/Dev team gave out prizes for the EU server way back when, doubtful to expect the same here. Each team/player has an entrance "fee" which gets thrown around in the purse. Purse then will be split up to the winners of each event. Details of course pending Limit each event to a maximum BR like before. 1v1s would of course be matching ships. Live stream each match, preferably have a couple streamers call and help conduct the fights. Bang the whole thing out over the span of a weekend or so. Biggest drawbacks of the first duel tournament was trying to coordinate schedules. Clan vs Clan. Nation doesn't matter. It'd be too hard to limit what mods/slots and amount of repairs to bring. It'll be unbalanced no matter what and we can't trust everyone to go in set amounts and not use mod slots. How to get around the no duel room issue - Meet up at a freetown, a little out of the way. Sail out and have both sides tag each other, wait 3 mins for joiners and then battle it out. If it's inter-nation we'll just have to have the players tag the moderator/streamer and do green on green OR have 2 different nations tag each other and each side join the different circles. Will have to test both methods. Misc - myself and a couple others can handle the logistics. Will need at least 1 more streamer, maybe 2. be nice to see a duel tournament that isn't just a de-masting fest. Dates, fees and BR limits will of course be hashed out later on and plenty of notice given to those who need to grind slots and gather shit. Willing to help out PVP EU players with ships if they want to come over. Thoughts and observations? If we have enough interested and people ready to commit I will gladly organize the hell out of this to give us something to do other than fight each other on the forums.
  19. BLACK ruined pvp2 again?
  20. Waaaa you guys have alts too!!!!! The arguement isn't about having them, it's what you choose to do with the alts. Some choose to alt farm, sneak them into other nations pbs (escort them on mains even), tag in PB fleets to hide, talk shit in nation chats and manipulate the price of trade goods needed for mods. Some clans and players choose go this route with alts. the big whopper is using alts to live stream the nation chat of all their enemies onto a website that anyone can view with a password. So shameful. Only one clan in particular comes into mind that uses these tactics. Can you guess which one?
  21. Global's fine. I certainly don't miss anti-US bias that you always brought to the table. Always were a bad hombre. I heard most of your PBs are cancelled due to a lack of players, kinda sucks. We stopped doing them over here and just pvp most of the evenings, it's more fun. Appreciate you checking in on a serious thread like this to throw our your bitter salt, I see not much has changed with you. last I heard you were barely playing. Good to know you're still alive and kicking, we'll see you soon!
  22. Sure sounds like you are. I also wanted a server merge 6 months ago before they announced the wipe, feel free to dig through the post history. Anolytic is good at doing that. I'm glad you're fighting the swedes now, it only took 2 months and destroying the french and pirates player bases by ganging up on them for you to do it. Congrats. Fair play North! For the health of the server!
  23. still bitter I see. while global has lost some, we haven't lost anywhere near the amount of players your swe/dane non aggression move killed on EU. 1200+ down to 400/450? For shame. For the health of the server!
  24. You guys ever gonna grind up Gasparilla? its been taking you like a week.
