assuming the 2 teams are opposite nations, just have them tag and fight if not, have 2 alts or other players tag and have the nations just join.

Hotfix for patch 13. Le Gros Ventre Refit + Swivels!!!

The only thing that should count with nations is what color that flag is on the back of your ship. Clan wars, Clan Alliances....Clan everything. -

They don't. Raids were mentioned a year ago. So were changes to the pirate mechanics, which turned into outlaw battles. This is a overcompensating fix to a small problem that should of been dealt with via tribunals and removing the ability to do outlaw battles in reinforcement zones. #horribledecision -

The whole point, historically and in game, to go pirate was for the freedom. This is a cop out. -

I guess it's time to roll around with a US or Spanish alt in our pirate fleets to tag and hide in battle like the rest of the nationals do on global. -

If you're going to remove outlaw battles forever, it's time to give us another forged papers. As @Peter Goldman mentioned above, outlaw battles were one of the primary reasons my clan also went from Brit to Pirate. We were tired of the bickering in nation chat and not being able to do anything about it. Now that option is off the table, and it doesn't look like you're implementing clan wars anytime soon.....we really have no reason to be pirate anymore. Issue another round of forged papers please. -

You can't have your cake and eat it too here. If this is a sandbox, pirates (and other nations for that matter) should be able to attack others within their own nation. If this were a sandbox game there would be no port timer restrictions and only 1 server. This half in / half out of the sandbox stuff has been plaguing this game for months. -

I'm pretty sure ALOHA went pirate around the same time the RDNN guys did to "zerg" up the pirates. Speaking of toxic jerks, It's ironic you bring that up. In the week or so I've been part-time on the EU I've seen some interesting things in global chat. One was a dude going on a racist tirade about russians being inferior and animals. He was a member of your clan I think......ALOHA (pirate). I also saw The Banished Privateer talking mad shit towards the Russians when he got ganked doing hostility....leader of ALOHA (pirate). Just recently.....and I kid you not....I saw the EXILE guys posting a video that has been making the rounds on reddit and porn sites in global multiple times. I guess it was funny. They're also pirates. Whatever toxicity you might of had in nation chat seems to now be perpetuated by pirates in global. While I'm definitely no angel in the realm of public opinion, I do know the definition of hypocrisy. I appreciate you calling sailing up to bermuda to snag a lone trader or 2.... hardcore and applaud you at doing so. I'd also call that a waste of time. To each his own. Frankly this thread is about pirate mechanics...not anecdotal stories. Let's get back to it. -

Most have. Outlaw battles weren't the best, but at least it was something that made being pirate riskier than being a national. But it seems the devs take the lazy route and just cut off a foot to fix a broken toe. Much like in the duper scandal a few months back....instead of dealing with the culprits they just wiped everything and said move along. It's lazy. Why even bother putting up tribunals. Very disappointing. -

Special refits and ships can be had via alts. We've been asking for raids for over a year......they ain't coming. -

Very disappointing @admin, one of the very few things that made pirates unique is now gone. Back to being just a regular national. Should give us another set of forged papers. I know I went pirate just so we could do inter - nation clan wars. How about punishing the abusers or exploiters instead of punishing the rest of us that use outlaw battles correctly. You have several unaddressed tribunal posts. What about those? All you had to to do was make it so no outlaw battles could occur in the reinforcements zones. Instead you just took the lazy route. You have a lot of very unhappy pirates right now. -

So Pirate on Pirate no longer works or did you just remove the outlaw battle? -

The problem lies in the fact that this game simply is not new player friendly. No tutorials, UI is a bit unfriendly, no description of the servers/timers, no description of the risks associated with leaving your capital. A new player joins a game that has an established playerbase that has been playing for a long time and dominates all the markets and ports. It is very difficult for a new player to carve out a little niche to play in. What people fail to realize when purchasing this game is that it is a full loot PVP MMO. Similar to Albion or Ultima Online. You go out in the world, you risk everything. I know in Albion that when you enter into a zone that is full loot, it warns you. Something similar when you leave capital wouldn't be a bad idea. Unfortunately the game has a problem with alts. I'm not sure how to fix it, but your average person has no idea how to tell who is an alt and who is a new player. Opening up resources to be more readily available would help. Having Carta tar being the most OP ship mod in the game and ONLY be available in one port is absurd. If you want resources to be rare they need to be RNG drop based. Not only available in 1 port. As for bad reviews, there really is no way to stop them. Put out a bad product....expect bad reviews. While the game has been improving, it's easy to see why players in the past have had their issues with it. If you go through and read some of the reviews, most of them echo more or less the same thing.

This is the right way to go. Less lineship fights. More mixed fleets. -

Patch 13: Variability in port battles, epic events, swivel guns
Christendom replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
BR is fine for PBs. Please tune the ports a bit better. 1700 for a deep 4th and 3100 for a shallow isn't really ideal. I'm glad screening is back in some capacity. Sailing with 25 in a battle group unmolested to a port because of BR was just so generic and stale. A PB should be a national/multi clan effort, screening involves everyone, not just the elite 25. This isn't a port battle simulator, if you want one go play World of Warships. The OW should be an important aspect to a PB and that means navigating to the port effectively. I'd also put in some sort of min ship requirement for ports. A higher BR port should have maybe 10 lineships as a minimum to join just so some jerks don't trigger PBs and sail around in Lnyxs wasting everyone's time. Decent patch. People need to chillout. Just because you can't roll up to the same old ports in the same old 25man vic fleet doesn't mean we should scrap the BR PBs entirely. Things need tweaking and that takes time. -
the BR is similar to that in game, though some ports just are not tuned correctly. 1700 BR for atwood (deep 4th) 3400 for west end (shallow). Doesn't make sense. I like the BR system, but I think the circles EITHER need to be BR based OR there needs to be a minimum type of ship. For example a 1st rate battle should have a min of say 10 1st rates, this would prevent trolling in 25 lynxs or Princes. I personally like the role of screening/counter screening. Not everyone can get in a PB and screening provides those and new players with some form of content and "near PB" experiences. It also makes planning when and where to strike a bit more tactical. I feel like some people just want a port battle simulator game where they queue up with their cookie cutter 25 vics or wasa's, fight and log off. Games like that exist already. NA should be about the OW.

more people involved in a PB than just the 25 going in isn't a bad thing.

Patch 13: Variability in port battles, epic events, swivel guns
Christendom replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
What wraith said. If not it's just going to be 25 guys in princes sailing up wind and kiting. Which might be a legit strategy, it doesn't make for exciting port battles. -

Then the circle captures need to be based on BR and not numbers. ASAP.
