Server Merge Proposal
Christendom replied to Iroquois Confederacy's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
yea us and gb gave up after the global announcement was given and the breakup of our clans imminent. Then rediii went on his revenge tour of the Bahamas at 15:00 taking ports he couldn't take from me when I bothered to show up. It was cute, but we stopped caring. Anyway if this thread is any indication, a server merge is needed to save the game from rediii's ego. Naval Action must be saved! -
Server Merge Proposal

I thought you quit on this thread? Just like your attempts to bully the rest of us by threatening to quit......only BS. We didn't care enough about the ports in the Bahamas to bother recruiting. We had to let you guys get your revenge in. It was only fair after all. -

Luckily sweden is so large on EU that you will balance out the disparity in populations. Win win. Good point dude. DK actually has some players here, same with the dutch. Here is admins quote on the merge. Praise be! -

We were unable to fill our PBs at 15:00 server, which is why spain, sweden and DK ended up winning the map. Or did you forget that? -

no one is talking about a global style server. Timers are a happy medium. I bring up REDS because according to players like you and rediii, clans with multiple different nations and timezone coverage is impossible. All I've seen on these forums by people like you is how it's impossible to recruit other players from different time zones and how GB had such a huge advantage. You're dead wrong. -

sounds like players need to take it back from your grasp. Maybe NA needs a merge....just to save it from your ego. If you think a merge, a more diverse player base and a more competitive map are bad things for this game, than you are either a fool or just a short sighted selfish player. -

You're wrong in this regard. These players do play together, perhaps just not in HRE. If you create an inclusive environment, they will come. If you look at some of the major clans of the western alliance....ZERG, 7up, VCO...couple others. Majority of those clans spread multiple different time zones and nationalities. REDS is very similar over on EU right now. If you look at the nations/clans that are currently not doing well, they are predominantly of one nation...aka Spain and France. Adapt or die. Variety is always good. -

And it’s already happening. EU went from 1200 people to barely cracking 600. This past week I’ve seen it barely cracking 550. It’s slowly going down. A consistent downward trend doesn’t mean everything is fine. -

You could always pop on to Global more frequently and lose yet another PB to the pirates with Kingy. -

Admin has mentioned recently that he is working on a way to fit all servers into one. Aka merge. -

Some will come back, but not in the numbers you think we will. Unfortunately I think the bridge is burned with most US players, especially on global (pvp2). They've been neglected for too long I think. I know some won't ever touch the game again after having their clans basically split up by the EU/Global thing. Or clans could just adopt REDS method and invite everyone to join. We've got about 5-6 different languages going on in the clan (+whatever language Furq speaks...). It works. I personally liked the flag system, so I'd be ok with it. Point I'm trying to make is the map is large enough for the entire population of the game. There's ways to make it work. -

Somehow the lord protector system with timers managed to kinda work and the server populations were the highest they had been....ever. Yea the flag system was abused and it sucked, but the timers managed the populations well enough. A couple facts need to really be expressed within the community. You're not going to be on for every single attack/battle that happens in the game and the map is big enough for everyone. What needs to be done? Merge the servers and bring back a 4-6 hour time window. Split the map up into a couple different time zone regions that make those clusters of ports unlock at those times. for example US timers will be US prime time, GB/Spain area will be western EU time, Further down the antilles will be more of eastern EU time (only an example). If clan A from the US wants to sail down to Puerto Rico and take Swede port from Clan B, they have to do it at clan b's time. If Clan A wins they keep the port, but since it is in a different region their port maintenance will be X amount higher if they want to keep that port and change it to US time. Taking ports a long distance from your capital should be expensive IMO. Make Haiti and parts of the gulf 24hr battle timers that do not have increased maintenance. Boom, game solved. I'd also like to assuage your fears rediii that a combined GB/US clan will resurface and displace you and HRE as kings of the server. It won't. Most of the americans quit a long time ago with our exile to Oz (global) and the ones that do remain on global.....maybe you'll just have to entice some to join your clan. Anyway, the map is big enough to fit everyone into it. People just need to be more flexible. It's a game, ports don't matter. Stop being jerks -
Is this an unacceptable exploit?
Christendom replied to Busterbloodvessel's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
There isn't really a solution to this problem as @admin mentioned. You could say that this is perhaps an ethics thing and it should be tribunal worthy, but it happens so frequently that seems impractical. Technically they are enemies and you would have to change the ROE for every fight to just fix this problem. One fix would be to bring back the alliance system. Perhaps inter-clan alliances not dependent on nation. Another one would be to make all engagements x amount of kms from land be outlaw style battles. Another thought would be to have a rule that if you leave any sort of combat, you have to wait...say 10mins....to join any PB. This means you have to sail there. It does seem rather stupid to blame this nation vs that one. RUS/RDNN were on the forefront of some interesting tactics back in the day, like logging off in front of ports and some war bomb stuff. I remember our frustration at not being able to screen them out. Now they're on the receiving end of some. Basically shit happens. Not everything is gonna be perfect in this game.- 41 replies

Opinions of a Newcomer
Christendom replied to TheHaney's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I guess. A simple variety in missions might be a good start. "Kill 3 trade ships in the x region". Sail to this location and recover this shipwreck. Sail to Beaufort and bring 200 logs to Charleston. Something like that. If there was an option to have player created delivery missions I'd love to use new players to haul my shit back and forth. It seems like in the mission and new player development aspect of the game the @admin says....this is a sandbox, it's up to you. But then in other stages of the game it's not a sandbox and we have timers and various restrictions...can't attack your own nation. No reputation system. The game tries to straddle the line between a sandbox MMO and an Combat sim, but not really achieving either one. -

Fair assessment and pretty much what has been echoed on the forums here for a long time. While the game has gotten better over the past couple of months, I don't think those changes have translated well for the new player experience. They might have even made it worse. The lack of missions/quests (PVE content) and the abundance of nations seems to be the key problems here honestly. -
interesting coming from the farmer in chief over here. it was curious how you got so many marks last time from all these kills you kept talking about, but yet once combat news came about your name was remarkably absent and you lost interest in the game. Whats funny is the BLACK guys crack on you for doing it too.... You ain't fooling anyone bud. The term millennial seems to get thrown around a lot as a derogatory name by those who don't understand the concept or have different opinions. Just as you did above. I don't think anyone who strives to keep the gameplay in a platform that they care about fair is really worthy of being made fun of. Do you? I think we can have a fun game and one where cheating is frowned upon. You seem to mistake ganks and unfair fights with blatant alt abuse. They are not the same.

Politics and PBs (Patch 11/12 - "Clan Wars")
Christendom replied to Teutonic's topic in Caribbean News
Navasse stream. My setup was a little weird and I'd skip occasionally....gotta stop mining. Pirate Victory Not really sure what GBs plan was. They deployed A wasa and buc upwind at C. We sent a surprise there to harass and deny points. Sent 4 wasas to take them out. Brits deployed the rest of the fleet downwind at B and our wasa group went in to harry and kite. I'm thinking GB expected us to send everything downwind to sink the bucs and they would just come in and cap A and C while we fought upwind to get back. Poor choice, if you're going to bring beef to brawl....then brawl you must. I think they expected us to no show and weren't' actually prepared for a fight. Relatively easy win of kiting and outplay. Thanks for coming out GB > -
dedicated players need noobs to hunt. Happy noobs - happy everyone. If I'm gonna get ganked by a super absurd LGV everytime I go out to do a trade run, I'm gonna stop doing them.
-
if we have to have PVP marks, they need to be for cosmetic items only. The ability to get premium items than can give RVR and PVP players and edge in battle encourages farming, ganking and just general abuse. it was an issue last time, it's still one. OR there needs to be a path to obtain these items without having to PVP. The fact that there is a hull refit that you can obtain with marks that increases thickness (aka screws with RVR) just astonishes me. It's bad enough that caulking can only be found in 1 port and it's absurdly expensive and you need an alt to get it AND its amazing for RVR ships. I mean if you want to introduce these items, put them in the deadmans chests and give those out for PVP zones, shipwrecks or RVR wins. Put the new LGV note in there. If your goal is to get more people out on the ocean, marks is not the way. Make these random drops from AI fleets or something like that. PVP marks is just so damn lazy and it creates so many issues. Right now it's just a sit outside of port gank fest.

I'm gonna try and be around for the on tomorrow, maybe I'll do some commentary with Liq. You might not like my right wing pro merge/night flip bias though :-)
