There are only 2 options. 1 - Do away with nations completely other than 4-5 starter nations that act in a PVP/PVE and light RVR capacity and introduce a Free For All faction that is clan based (each clan can fly one of the current nations flags). FFA Faction operates in the current climate of port loss/captures and no restrictions on RVR. Aka make the rest impossible nations. Operate out of free towns and capture territory. OR 2 - Fixed alliances that are pre-determined on the map and function in the same capactiy they did back in the fine woods days. Don't like your current alliance? leave using the forger DLC. For 12 nations and steady player base of 800-900 the game is simply far too diluted to provide content to all factions. end of story.

And it would seem that toxicity is just delayed slightly until the battle instance....as witnessed by the exhaustive amount of tribunals and reports. The game is/has been as toxic as it always has been....if not more toxic lately. I think this has a little something more to do with the small community and not necessarily the hidden names on the OW. I've personally grown to live with the names off on the OW and suddenly turning them back on again won't have much of an impact either way. As is traditon around here the devs typically go the half measure/easier to code route and instead of ships flying flags on the OW to identify nations and having something like a player name as the ship name that you use the spyglass to view.....we have a barebones system of Enemy Player icons. Imagine how cool would it be to see all 80 or whatever variations of flags on the OW + ship names and perhaps a smuggler/false flag system.
-
It would seem that trash talk has not diminished with the removal of names on the OW. It could perhaps have gotten worse. Add in tagging, grieifing, weird alliances and other general time wasting issues that are presented from not knowing the player on the OW....it would seem that the removal of the names has had little to no impact. The "muh immersion" folks who were one of the champions of the feature....have mostly seemed to vanish from the game as they typically do.

Majority of these RVR changes seem a bit unnecessary and sort of like treating the symptoms of the disease....rather than the virus itself. The virus being Zerg nations and the lack of incentive to not be in one. Game supports the winner take all gameplay and destroying ports that you NEED to invest in to stay competitive. Why take the risk of setting up shop to be in a smaller nation? Screen has been made worse by caputrable 1st rate nukes and DLC redoubtables......as was predicted. Wish we could transplant the PBs of the finewoods days into the current games graphics and QoL features and just be done with it.

I would appear that hostility is going to be dreadful to do.

New Feature Proposals - Combat
Christendom replied to admin's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Enemy Captain Flag Collection - Player flags drop in the holds of ships - Ships that sink drop their "flag" and has a little annotation "Player X sunk by Christendom on April 2nd...blah blah" - Flags can be traded, sold or used in a later developed bounty system. -
New Feature Proposals - DLC
Christendom replied to admin's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
With the inclusion of breaking up DLC ships for seasoned woods...let's be honest it's P2W. Might as well go balls deep in and create some sort of proper seasoned wood / new wood DLC. Timber Shed DLC - adds a building to your character that automatically sources and creates seasoned woods that a player can redeem in their port weekly. Can only produce one type of wood and has 30 day collection cooldown on switching types. Example - Select teak and it creates enough teak for 1 third rate (or whatever) per week for 30 days. Following month you can select white oak (or insert whatever wood). -

@admin Any thoughts to fixing the server downtime issues that have driven away almost all of your Aussie player base? Not to mention the location of the global server that made your oceanic players quit. Would be nice to have @Jeheil back for release.... if he could play the game in his prime time. Since my release thread was deleted, I feel like these 2 issues should be at least addressed prior to launch.

are you saying a rare tester only gift that isn't going to be rare and tester only.....isn't compensation for 3+ years of EA funding and testing?

I don't particularly care about the port, especially since all our resources will be adios. I do care about the 50 ships we'll have stored there after expending all our resources permits and vic marks prior to the wipe tho 🙂 So assuming the clan warehouse has 50k reals, we're good for the first day. Is it confirmed that if the warehouse is empty it will auto hit the clan leader?

I like how anyone will be able to purchase it as a DLC. Kinda like saying, thanks for supporting us for years...but we’d rather have money.

Sounds like Banished has your solution. Stagger the release of ranks and allow your vets to get their XP back in stages. Newbies win and your veterans, most of whom have stuck with this game for years, are not displeased upon release. Seems like a logical approach.
