and the player base rift begins.....PvP1 vs PvP2. Which has nothing to do with this topic and I'll even tell you, you guys would more than likely win. Cause of numbers and organizations not cause of your ship builds. You can bring prob 25 green store bought ships and beat the majority of the Nationals on PvP2 cause they aren't organize at all. That is why they loose even with numbers. It has nothing to do with Live Oak ships or not. Though it doesn't help them when they bring crap ships (like the note ships and store bought ships) instead of built ships for fighting. Though it's cool we all ready expected the PvP1's elites to show up and start bossing around the PvP2 scrubs until a good chunk of them leave cause they don't do it /YOUR/ way. And ya'll wonder why your player base numbers drop? How about this, instead of the PvP1 vs PvP2 we work together to get a better community and pick up players on either side in our repective nations and help them become better players. None of us are going to have Live Oak Aggy, H. Rattlers, l'Oceans at the start of the patch. Hell prob won't see many of these for a good while with how the new rewards system is unless they can be bought int eh Admiralty shop. But bickering at each other is not going to help anything. This thread went way off topic real fast and I'll admit I was part of that driving off topic, but lets not start a rift between the two servers before they are merged or we will end up in the same shoes we are at right now on both servers with split under populated groups not working with each other. And that means we need to all step off our high horses and go back to the basics of things.

Wow you guys go to personal attacks as soon as some one tells you your meta isn't going to be the only thing you can fight in. I'm going to love to see just how all these ELITE PVP1 players are going to be on PvP Global when they don't have there Live Oak and Aggy/H.Rattler/L'ocean BP's and actually have to fight in what every else can field the first few weeks or even month. Than we will see just how your seasoned fleet is. Than we will see exactly what skills are about in a battle and not having the tanked out meta.
-
And I have watched a good number of PvP1 battles and wasn't to impressed with some of the skill levels over there either. Every server is going to have the majority of the casual players and they make up the back bone of the nations. Yes US/GB are very unorganized and seem to fight more with each other than a common goal. That is there downfall, but it does not prove your point about LO vs other woods cause the majority of us don't bring LO to every port battle. We actually use Mahogany a lot cause it allows us to be more mobel, but notice we don't line fight either. We take it to a PvP style brawl. When you do that your slow tanked out LO ship don't mean crap when it's being focused fire or boarded faster than you can sink the other ships back. I use our clan as a example that you can get stuff done without resources and numbers if you set your mind to it and work together. I know we aren't the best of the best players, but if your fighting a bunch of guys that are spending more time fighting each other than a common goal than your going to come out on top and you can do it without the resources. Which means that folks that are so use to having all your resources and numbers are going need to adapt the first couple of weeks after the wipe are you won't do so well. Those of us on both servers that are use to being the underdog and fighting in things that aren't the Meta will prob be the ones on top of most of the fights. Hell even you said ya'll don't have PvPers any more cause they left. That is BS every one can be a PvPer if they just get out and hunt. While I think we need more LO resources you are forgetting that the whole point of having two ports with this resources is so folks fight over them. Want to know something funny? After the regional patch was put into place. I had never built a live oak ship other than for shallow water fights until we took Wilmington from the US recently. Than I made a crap load of tanked out Aggy's and l'Oceans to use in defense port battles. Every thing I made was for PvP ships and those where the same ships we brought into Port Battles too. My point is ya'll are acting like it's the end of the world cause you don't get one resources, but instead of using that as a crutch you need to learn to adapt and fight differently. Just like we did when we where constantly out numbered even if it was against crappy players, we where still way out numbered. Having to deal with screeners and a full port battle and still win. Any time I hear ya'll mention about not having numbers ya'll act like it's an automatic lost. Which means with that attitude your going to loose.

Cedar stiffness French Refitt for the Mortar Brig. That thing is so freaking slow you need every once of speed you can get out of it cause only thing going to save you in a fight is going up wind. I found the stiffness helps on the rocking. I do agree if you have the resources and numbers most port battles your going to want 25 vs 25 LO Aggies in a 4th rate, but it's not the end of the world if you don't have it. Both servers has it's share of elite players and average guys. I'm sure after we all get settled in and we see what the resources are going to be like and get to producing ships it will fall back to that meta, but some of the guys keep sounding like they can't get anything done on anything else. And you need to show up and fight in the best ship you can if you want to win. But I also think we need to look at these battles and maybe not keep to one meta. The Devs need to throw us a curve ball in some of these fights like put the capture circle in a tight spot that you need to be agil in to control. Some ports are a death sentence if you come in slow tanked out ship if the other team brings one or two mortar brigs and you have to fight against the wind. Nothing like a 1st rate dead in the wind.

Back when foreman worked across all the servers if you had it on one char was pretty much the only reason I been on PvE and I have gone on there to test things out a few times. I figure it could be a good way to recruit folks and maybe do some trade. Part of the reason I bought a second account was the fact you can't play on two serves with two different chars and not craft one both. If I had my crafting separated you would prob seen me a lot more on PvP1 during the off hours when PvP2 was slow (EU prime times), but why would I want to play a char i can't craft with cause I'm using all my labor hours on PvP2? Now we can play on both servers and do different things. I can do my pirate stuff on PvP Global and than I could do national stuff over on PvP EU if I got bored or something. Hell I might even go to PvE to test some things......nah I think I'll just stay away from that place lol

Not true we have beat ya'll many a times in Mahogany ships. I don't always bring my tanked out LO Vict or Aggy to fights. I have other ships I bring like a boarding l'Ocean is made of mahogany and it's taking down a good number of players in LO ships cause they where slow and easy to catch into the wind enough to get a board on them. Now I'll agree we will beat the crap out of half a fleet of store bought green ships with our exceptional ships, but the key is we bring exceptional ships with all gold mods to the fights even if they aren't Live Oak. Mahogany can bounce just as much as live oak if you learn to turn your ship and use it's angled armor in a fight. You ever wonder why we don't sit there and do line fights with ya'll? We found out that we can drop ya'll faster by taking it to a brawl and having 2-3 ships focus on one ship at a time. Once they start to drop than it just rolls down hill from there. That and we target your best players on purpose. We know a certain leader or two likes to range when shit goes to hell and he does it when ever we sink him pretty fast. I'm sure you know what US leader I'm talking about lol

You know the last couple of days I been listening to some of you PvP1 guys. Man are ya'll always this cry babyish? "WE CAN"T FIGHT UNLESS WE HAVE LO AND 25 PLAYERS." BS ya'll can fight in what every you have as long as you show up and FREAKING FIGHT. How do you think we beat out number odds? We show up and fight and some times it's not all LO ships cause they can be a bit to slow. We fight and win when it's 19 vs 25. We show up and fight even when the numbers are against us. The majority of the folks that show up for RvR aren't hard core PvPers it's filled with your average joe player that wants to be a part of things. Those are the guys that ya'll are forgetting about. Those are the guys that need to be trained and get into the PvP and RvR but hasn't had some one to lead them. Those are the guys still leveling up and will some day be good players, but not if you think your not going to win having sub par ships and fleets. I"m going to take a bet the first couple of weeks we are going to see so much of a mixture at these port battle as no one will have the ships that are META for them. So instead saying you won't have this or that, lets just get this patch started and see what happens. Yes I think we need at least two more Live oak ports and I agree with ya'll on that, but not having one is not going to be the death of a nation. Believe me there is going to be some greedy folks that is going to want to fill those buy contracts and sale LO and other things to other folks at a price. Believe me your going to see tons of crappy ships show up for the fights at first as folks get the resources. Yes some clans are going to be very organized and have the resources pretty quick, but that won't be the majority. Try to look back and see when your nation might of been one ported and see how ya'll got back on your feet. PvP2 Pirates has been in that shape several times and we got back on our feet. Fighting against odds and lack of resources but we still started to win. Cause you know what 15-20 very organized players can and will be 20-25 unorganized players even if they have good ships. So if you want to get your RvR numbers up you need to get the average players up and into the fight instead of ignoring them. PvPers are your back bones of the war effect and you want to get them into port battles too. There will ab a lot of guys that never done port battles on both sides (PvP1/PvP2/PvE even) that all ways got left out of port battles. Maybe if we work more on getting them up and into the fights it would be more fun, instead of demanding that every ship has to be made of one type for now. Yes we want to win and later when we have the resources we can expect a meta of ships for the Port Battles. But with that Devs could easily make two more LO ports with the info we gave them to spread the resources out in the Gulf of Mexico a bit. If we keep bugging them maybe they will listen to us and make the changes. Just stop making it sound like your nations will be dead and can't RvR if you don't have Live Oak. Believe me you can still win even if your in a crap store bought 1 dura ship if you don't act like you all ready lost the fight before it even starts.

The first time I was surprised how fast I took it out. The last time I won't repeat how bad that battle went and it was on low setting with the new battle limit thing on and lets just say I turned that game off and went to play something else before the battle was over lol

If you take out the players making the bounty which I'm kinda not in favor of it being player driven cause folks would use it to constantly pick on certain players. The one way to do it is a simple reputation system. If you reach a certain level your bounty goes up and folks from that nation get extra xp/credits when they kill you. Than you loose reputation until with that nation/faction. Having the Reputation system kinda like a leaderboard. Those that done the most kills and damage to a nation will hit a level where they have a bounty on them until they are either killed or captured.

I kinda like the pay out of value of ships, but man some one that stays in small ships and stuff would take forever to pay out....gunboat for the win...lol
-
That is why we need a reputation system. I also thing folks miss understood what Admin was saying. I took it as as long as it didn't effect xp than it would be a good system. Like players can't farm a bounty to make xp or cause some one to loose it. At least that was what I got from his one comment. A money set bounty could be a good way to spark more RP and such. The problem is your going to have folks that will cry about i cause they pissed some one off and than have half a dozen bounties on there heads by a bunch of care bears. Well last I checked this was a PvP server wasn't? Cause not every one is able to fight others in the open world. The bounty doesn't have to be some one in your nation. More than likely it's some one else in another nation. Let me make another example other than the trader. Say I catch yo in a trader that you have everything in to make you very first SOL first rate after the patch comes out and these are rare and very few have them yet. I demast you capture your ship and get it back to port with all your goods. Hell I'm level 50 and you even had labor contracts in there so 'bang' I pop out a brand new Santi and thank you in Global chat. This just pisses you off more than loosing every thing on that ship. So you put up a 1 Million dollar bounty on my head. Well since I'm a pirate that means /EVERY ONE/ on the server can hunt me down and try to claim the bounty. Some might be able to and others might not. You know since I tend to roll with my fellow clan mates. Well just happens lucky La Newbie Jose from the Spanish nation is in a battle and gets the lucky kill. Well since he killed me he gets to turn in the bounty and get paid the 1 million you put on my head. Now you get to be happy you got revenge that you might not been able to get in the first place. A hunting party? Really I would love to see some of ya'll actually leave your ports and do that. Would mean you actually have to come out and PvP, which again is good for the game. To many folks hide in ports and don't come out and play one of the aspects of the game. Though lets be honest some times it's hard as hell to know where some one is at and hunt them down. But that would be another aspect of the game and not ever one is into PvP and able to hunt some one down. What if you have a solo trader char that only does crafting. This bounty system would give that char a chance to have others do the hunting. Alliances as a game mechanics are gone, nothing stopping you from having them. BLACK and CN/CCCP of the Danes have have a verbal alliances for almost a year now and it's prob the strongest one in game and we didn't need some silly game mechanic to make it work. Since it was more a clan vs clan agreement to you didn't have to piss every one off in the nation by not fight or fighting one group or another. Though I do think there needs to be some restrictions like can't have a clan mate claim it and it shouldn't be claimed in things like small battles or even port battles. I think the pay out should be OW battles only.aaa

Tools to make PvP events more enjoyable
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I thought my player count was number on server....the whole server s my PvP event grounds...lol Though I know one thing that might attract more players is by restricting the deep water one to 4th rates and below. Gives more the average players a chance to get into the fights and not be ganked by a bunch of SOL's. -
Currently gold won't mean crap, but after the patch 10 million prob going to be worth a lot. What your looking for is an in game way to punish folks no mater if they are guilty or not and not every one is guilty that I have seen folks accuse others of in game and on the forums. Pluss how do you know certain folks haven't been punished one way or another? We don't know every things the Devs do and well we shouldn't know either. That is none of our business. The case your speaking of the British alt is closed as per the link I put up. Devs dealt with it so move on and stop beating on the dead horse. As for for any other such as harassing I don't have knowledge of that, but if it was so hope you reported and it got straighten out. If they no longer contact ya'll than that means something was done. Either of these have have nothing to do with this post. This is talking about putting bounties on other players so folks can get the rewards. The key use for such is for in game stuff like a Dreaded pirate that keeps killing your clan mates or even lowbies. So you put a bounty on him that any one can collect. This is not suppose to be meant as a means to punish spies and traitors or folks that break the game rules or exploit. Those things should be reported properly. So far he keeps speaking of exploiters and such, some things that have been reported and other things are just assumption (like alts in port battles). Basically I think he wants to be able to put a bounty on suspected spies/traitors in his own nation and than collect on it. Which isn't what the bounty system the OP is speaking of is meant to be used as a punishment for such actions. If the traitor was exploiting we have a system to report. If he's a bad spy that got caught well other than reporting them so they get chat banned is all you can currently do. As there is no means for players to punish folks in there own nations. Mainly I would assume cause it would be abused to much as folks accuse each other of things with little to no proof.

Why would they have to start over? I'm not understanding your reason. The reputation system can be put in place even with chars of of multi levels. The system will have base lines of your Reputation. Folks of certain nations will have higher reputation with there parent nation than they would have with others. Pirate of course will prob start with very low reputation for all other nations. This can be used as a means to be able to use other ports shops too. YOu have a bad reputation with a certain nation you can't do any trade in the shop of it's ports. Cause why would a trader want to trade with a guy that sinks there ships? It's like the old pirate switching national thing. You want to become a pirate you attack a national of your nation (IE take a big reputation hit). BOOM YOUR A PIRATE NOW. Say you don't want to be a pirate any more you go to a nation and start to gain reputation with that nation,by sinking folks they are at war with, including other pirates? Effectively acting as a Privateer for that nation. Get your reputation up high enough than you can join that nation permanently and your pirate status falls off. Though you can never go back to a nation you left, well not easily. You would have to gain a lot of reputation back for what you lost leaving that nation. Have to remember your a pirate the whole time your getting your reputation to join the other nation so /ANYONE/ can attack you so this isn't easy at all. I highlighted in blue exactly the reason of use of a reputation system instead of just deleting and starting over. This gives an in game way to change nations. It won't be a push button and be done, you have to take the time to switch nations or you can delete your char and start over from zero.
-
SkyHG's bounty was meant for any one that wasn't US to attack and get the kills. I remember that port battle when he put that in global as they left early without a fight I believe leaving every one else hanging. That is exactly what this system of the OP is talking about. You have beef with some one call it out and get some one else to do your dirty work. Rules are still in place and there is no Green on Green allowed. Well unless your pirates. I'm sorry if in my example above the said Trader has a beef and put the bounty out if another Naval officer of that nation attacked the rival trader he would be court-martial and hanged for such action. Why would a bounty change that. He basically just did an act of piracy attacking his own nations. I'm sorry every one can't have every thing. Not to mention exempting Green ON Green just for the Bounty is going to cause even more abuse and exploits of things. This would be the same for the other char you speak of, Brits have a problem with one of there own you put a Bounty out and let other nations hunt him down and get the reward. Still gives you no excuse to do green on green. The only restrictions is that you can't hunt some one of your own nation to collect a bounty. Seems like you want to be able to hunt your own nation to exploit such a system every time you have a grief with a player. Check and balances in rules need to be there so folks don't try to exploit them. Hunting down some one like Charles Hunter for his exploits is not going to make it any difference. Green on Green is still against the rules and it makes you just as bad as what ever he did if not worse. Two wrongs don't make a right. Again that was a re-portable thing that was reported to the Devs and I assumed dealt with by them. Again the Devs have dealt with this and it's been closed. Don't know why you keep bring it up over and over. Oh and the fix is in current test bed. Though haven't checked to see if it was added to one of the last hot-fix that they did for the dupping stuff. We don't all ways see every fix they do for exploits and such, so stop saying nothing has been done. The fix is now that if a player leaves a battle no more agro can be gained after they left. I believe this part of the new battle reward stuff coming in the next patch. The other thing is this is a system for folks that have been sunk multi time by a player and can put a bounty out for them. Going back to that trader of the one nation. Say one pirate/privateer of another nation keeps sinking him. He can put that bounty out and than folks of his own nation can claim it, but unless they are pirates why would say a Brit Privateer is the one he put a bounty on, would other Brits attack there own national and collect the reward? That would effectively make them a pirate not a British National.

Crafting and blueprint changes
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
The only thing the restricted ships should be of a mid level and not key to things like RvR/Port Battles. We don't have enough ships to go around to restrict to certain nations, but there could be some ships. I'll use the Pirate Frigate as an example that are more nation specific. Whey would a Naval officer be runing around in a Pirate refited ship? Maybe if he was a privateer I can see keeping the capture ship, but any naval officers would send capture ships back to be refitted to nations standards and than the ship would be renamed and put back into the Naval service. I would say make it something like a Rank 5 only ship restrictions so that you can make mid level ships for each nations that only that nation can get in there Admiralty shop. I actually thought they might of been doing something like this when I saw the Pirate Frigate in the Pirate Den Shop and than I noticed Navy Agamemnon and though it might be a National only thing until I noticed it was just a ship note, not the BP. Pirates have a lot of restrictions on them all ready so really is it bad that they have one ship that no other nation can craft to make up for the fact they can't have an alliance, join others port battles and have others join their port battles or OW battles? The mark system can slow it dow, maybe make all SOL require marks along with the crafting materials so they are even more costly. The meta is all ways to bring the best, but until every one gets settles in and production up and going most folks won't be able to have the best top tier ships in these battles. A better break down on tier of ship in battles woould be nice too. Some ports you can only have 5th rates and below. Others you can only have 2nd rates and below. This will get folks to use more than just the meta of ships most use at port battles. -
Why would you need to have friendly fire turned off? I would assume if there is a bounty on some one head it's not some one of your nation that you expect to claim it. It would be some one from another nation. The only time you would see some one from one nation claiming a bounty would be say you put a Bounty on me. Another pirate kills me and they receive the bounty. Since pirates are the only ones allowed to attack each other. Even though it's not unheard of to think that some pirates might put bounties on other pirates. Your going to rarely see any nationals put bounties on other nationals and expect any one of that Bounties nation to turn on themselves. Though it wouldn't be unheard of to make under the table deals to have other folks from other nations to claim said bounty on a fellow national. Think of it like this. I'm a Trader from Nation A and I have a fellow Trader that keeps cutting in my business in my own nation. I put a bounty out for him and folks from other nations will hunt him down to claim the bounty. This allowing me to disrupt his shipping business without being directly involved against my own national member.

Yep I did the same break down pretty much on that thread.... Though as per wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_oak The name live oak comes from the fact that evergreen oaks remain green and "live" throughout winter, when other oaks are dormant and leafless. The name is used mainly in North America, where evergreen oaks are widespread in warmer areas along the Atlantic coast from southeast Virginia to Florida, west along the Gulf Coast to Louisiana and Mexico, and across the southwest to California and southwest Oregon. I would say put in at least one in Florida Occidental (lineship) regional speed bonus or Apalache (shallow) no regional bonus Nuevo Santandor (4th rate) Regional Strong Rig Bonus. That is three more ports to think of adding it for a total of 5. This will give more reason for folks to fight over the Gulf of Mexico. Eve if you just add two (I would say Forida Occidental and Nuevo Santandor that would be two more than we have more and they would be more spread out. That will give you 4-5 areas. With 8 nations than that means you have only 4 nations in control so some one will be fighting over one or two of them most the time or just trading with another nation to get it.
-
@admin I keep hearing folks say no smuggler flags can we get this confirmed cause I remembering when the PvE zone was talked about there was a mention that you could still attack folks with the smuggler flag on but it would create a Pirate like FFA fight. To many folks think it's gone since there was a mention of it's removal too. While I agree that LO is very important for the port battles, but it doesn't mean it's the only builds you bring. Hell for any one that comes in a board fit build you don't want a slow LO tank to get to ships and board them fast. All my boarder builds for PB and such are made out of Mahogany. Than again I'm a pirate and we don't sit in stupid Lines and duck it out broad side to broad side either. Yah we might get you into a close brawl and do that, but it's not as a line. So LO isn't the only thing needed for port battles. Though I do agree we need 2-3 more LO ports and I have mention some great picks for new region locations they can put it at. I think two more spread out in the Gulf Of Mexico will do two things. It will give half the nations a chance to own a LO port themselves (4 of 8) and to fight over them so that not one nation prob has control over all the live oak. Than it will so give folks a reason to fight over the Gulf Of Mexico.
-
That is why I think it should be tied to a reputation system and not actual player xp.
-
I'm not a big fan of causing some one to loose xp by being sunk by others. Though if we had a proper reputation system (HINT HINT HINT) than maybe we can have folks loose reputation if they are sunk. There is a normal level, but if you get your reputation up to a certain level folks can put bounties on you for that nation and if you are sunk you loose reputation. Let me make an example: I'm a pirate and I am famous for killing US players and traders until my Reputation with that nation gets to a level that allowes Bounties to be put on me. This way it doesn't even have to be player set, it can be part of the game system. A bounty is put on my head after I have sunk so many ships that now if some one sinks me they get a large credit boost and reputation boost for there own nation and I loose my reputation with that nation as being a famous pirate. I get sunk enough my fame drops to a level that I'm no longer some feared pirate in there eyes. Reputation system can be linked to a reward shop like the Admiralty shop that might give special paints and flags and such things like that. Though a Player VS Player bounty can be added to this same system (think of the reputation system kinda like a leader board, but it's your relation to other nations and your own). Though since it's Players making the bounty the rewards can be higher with maybe less of a reputation hit or gain. Since the rewards is not a base number the game stets for a bounty but is what a players has set. Now to make this more fun if I have a Bounty placed on my by said US players...I'll use Admin as that player. If I in turn sink him after the bounty has been issued I get the bounty dropped, but my reputation goes up even more and his goes down and the bounty is removed from me. I don't gain the reward other than as part of the reputation system.

I can see doing this, but even than we had folks from the other server popping in making comments about out suff thinking we where talking about PvP1. There is a reason we got the PvP2 Port Battle and National stuff post updated and than pinned so it's easy to find and not buried deep in the other crap. I think one section is fine, but we can have some pinned post like port battle results and stuff for that info so it's not lost, but I kinda see the reason to split it. Most other games i been on had there server info's split by server instead of every one posting the same section so I voted yes lets split it. 9 Hell lets do it properly. Even though the devs are talking about taking away National News I think it should be broke down into three sub sections. PvP Global PvP EU PvE And than you can post what ever you want as in National news stuff and Clan inside those groups.
