May I add to this? Maybe seed the shops with some other cannons than Mediums and maybe a mix of mods and such so we can test them more mixed like. One of the biggest issues I had with test before we where spending our starting resources to try to get cannons and such for the ships and not being able to out fit them all the test them. I know mediums are the normal for a base line, but shouldn't we be able to test things out with multi style builds. One guy might love his Carros while another his longs or I tend to mix them up on some ships. Since this is testbed and it's more about testing the engine and new ships and a some bug fixes we should maybe be able to test it real good. I tend to always break something on testbed so I'll be happy to find some issues when it drops. Gives me something to do while I"m kinda taking a break from game this week. Maybe I'll actually get some packing in time for moving at the end of month lol

Wait wasn't some one bitching about off time fighs staged by Danes'a dn Pirates. UH isn't US prime time not Danes strong time? If I heard correct they couldn't even fill half the port battle numbers so it was like 12 vs 25, but that is what I heard. All the while Pirates hit the server maintiance. Stopped and than picked back up that eve to put the port battle in US prime time cause folks where bitching about the off US prime times. I'll be honest the reason we been flipping some of the ports off prime time is cause the grind is so stupid. We use to be able to flip a port in 1 1/2 hours pre-patch by hitting mega fleets. Now it takes us around 2-5 hours to flip a port. So a battle we wanted in our prime times now just got set 5 hours later than we wanted it to be, but we aren't going to just give up and let some one grind it back down and start all over, that makes the stupid grind even worse. Hell we didn't even have a full group for the port battle. That is why we didn't come out and OW fight ya'll. 16 vs 25 on OW would prob been a slaughter on our part. Yah had the optoin to have fight us in the Port battle at those numbers cause we didn't have 25 strong or even had screen us and fought us out side, but instead you went to the port battle you knew was going to be be empty. So how exactly did that OW PvP turn out for you, both parties ended up pretty much doing nothing but sitting around that eve and getting nothing done. Hell after the PB I logged off and went to play something else. I haven't been back in game since and that is not common for me. Though need to hope on and do econ, but really don't see the point of that right now.
-
The problem with that is man of the AUS players pings go insanely through the roof and have you ever seen a screen shot from the CCCP Danes? I don't know who they would play over there and that is where they started at. I have all my chars started but no XP redeemed on EU just encase they do something stupid merge like the last time and not properly wipe every one.

If you actually look at the Combatnews unlike what some folks think it's not BLACK at CT hunting. It's mainly GS6 a small fairly new clan of r guys that PvP. They sink jsut as much as they sink US ships. Hell at the start of them setting up there base over there they sunk a lot. Kinda like DEA out side of Mort that keep fighting the French. I been saying this over and over and over. The only way you get better is you have to fight and that means you will sink a few times. Both these clans are very much on par with many of the smaller clans and some of the older clans in US/GB and they are very young (time in game) players. BLACK only goes to Savanna late after every things is done and a few guys go hunt. Most the fights i hear are against older players running around in 5th rates and something bigger. I really don't think it's a bunch of vets kiling the new players at CT. Unlike what French has been doing at Mort which we keep telling these guys not to go out a lone and to go in good groups. It's learning and weeding out the weak to be honest. If you can't handle it on a PvP server than maybe the PvE server was better pick for you. I love how we saw 50-70 folks show up to empty Spainish ports to get the conquest Marks cause you had to show to get them, but now that there is real fighting or you can just get them through buying/CM trade or what not hardly any one wants to show. We seen this even on the Pirates side. Why should they show to help when they get the free mark any way. Those game cahnges hurt the server more than one nation or another camping a port. If anything it should make your nation stronger if you just get out there and fight back. You want to know what most Pirates where? Privateers out of a job cause there was no war. As some as a War sparks up they get a pardon from one side or another and get a LoM and become a Privateer again. Maybe the problem is we have to many pirates cause there is not enough wars going on between the nationals? It's actually the number two reason I hear folks leave nations to come to pirates (not talking the wining team fence jumpers every nation has). 1)Can't stand the bicker fighting and being unorganized as a nation and clans. The problems in some nations are the clans/players that never leave and are still very toxic and keeps leading them down the same path that doesn't work. 2) Cause no one fights, they all sit in port and don't want to fight or they only come out to fight AI fleets in some safe place. 3) You have the fence jumpers that just trying to get on the winning team, a lot of these switch back to a National when they find out it's not as easy as they think it is having every nation that hates you. Notice it's every port we pretty much like to take (and pirates one EU normally do too) to have a buffer around Mort to protect it. Every time we start to talk about things like this the first they do is want us to give up key regions/ports. I never see an offer of something like well if we can set up this zone you can have this area if you want. It's always the pirates must give. How about the Brits give the US some of the Gulf Ports back so they can grow and grind up safely there. Hell we be happy to give them NO if they can just show they aren't going to give them right back to Brits at the drop of a dime. Now that we have silver and coal closer to Mort I wouldn't mind giving up north Bahamas to the US, but the problem every time we do this they can't keep with agreements and roll the south Bahamas while we are away doing other things. Even better let France have NO/Texas to be a buffer between US/GB. We would give Remidos/Trinadad back to Spain if Brits gave them one or two ports on the south side of Cuba and folks actually no attack it if they ever get players (rumor is they might get a small clan soon). Hell I"m sure a few regions could be arranged to go back to french. Dutch are pretty much set with there little zone down there. If we balance out the nations and just drop the RvR stuff until the patch comes than we can help each nation grow a bit better. If you want PvP than you just go get it. La Navaasas always been a big hot zone for such things. I'll be honest George Town when we saw there numbers popped in and the ships we didn't expect to win that fight and it was a 4th rate. It was a good brawl and the first time VCO/TF faced us and not a ragtag mix of US/GB players. They might of had a better chance if they didn't show up as late as they did but hay we learn. PnP guys that where undergun and number had a great brawl in that port battle. I didn't make it to that one, but hay it's the point that you don't need them to all be 1st rates. The problem is when you get screened and split up and it's not fun for every one. Now that fleet group has fixed that problem they could just have the fight out side the port and stop us with a proper 25 vs 25 fleet battle out side. We would be just as happy. I personally hate 1st rate battles cause they are kinda boring as hell. It's all about the movement, chaos and brawling I love I get in light ship and Frigates battles on OW or in Port Battles. The guys that want only 1st rate battles will be gone by time legend comes out any way or move on to some other game. I would love for the devs to actually make pirates more like privateers so we can join other nations fights with a LoM and work as Mercs (kinda like Merc Units in MWOL can join other factions for a contract). Than the guys that don't have them will be your true outlaws/pirates. Though it just seems the Devs do not want to touch the pirates and give them a proper mechanic in game. RVR is pretty much dead for now and the game is going to get low numbers until this new patch comes out in 5-6 months. We could work things out and turn it more into a PvP server with set regions. Than we can pick certain buffer regions between nations that folks can fight over if they want some RvR battles. Though if we do something like this it needs to be fair to all and set rules set up and if they break those rules the other nations need to follow and help punish that nation.

Right before and after server maintance is the best time to hunt. For that exact reason. Maybe the mergere would be good cause it would give me a few more ships to hunt. The sad thing is most these guys use the same routes every day but they figure if they get 9 out of 10 trips through it's profitable to them, even if they get 50% of them through. Like I said above it's some of the best hunting times after server down time. I tend to keep more of an AUS time (I'm US player living in Texas) so I'm normally still up at this time. I'll be honest it's when I do my heavy trade runs too and than I go hunting the guys that are doing them too. No xp for damage was taken out cause of folks exploiting it with alts. Well we now have expensive ships and no rewards for an hour to make up for folks that abuse the system. XP (and only xp) for Damage should return. Keep the Gold and Marks according to your Kills/Assist, but folks need to get rewards even if they sink or loose a fight. New players that help bigger players need to get some reward. You have one guy in a big ship doing all the damage its hard for new players and smaller ships to ever make xp/rewards cause of that. It seems a lot of folks have been asking for this back to help the lower level and new players and not to mention it helps with the ship knowledge grind. Some of the higher level ships are still insane amount of XP to unlock when you get past the first few slots. Even more insane if you ever look at the SOL's. This wouldn't be good cause it can be abused by folks with alts that keep a low level to haul every thing. I'm sorry I was in PvP like day one (well more like month one cause I sucked bad at day one). We have had some guys in low level ships just kick arse from the start and they shouldn't be held back. Maybe just make the capital safe zones bigger for the big nations adn let them have that zone to level up. I think they should keep the low level missions thing for capital and than make all other missions hostility missions that have to be taken in other regions than your capital. Make that cut off at level 3-4. Maybe add some more bigger fleets that relate to the regions to that you can group up and go kill. This is one of the reasons I been hounding Devs to get a tally of the servers for the players. They should of done this a month after the patch and than a month or so again. Each time they added new forge papers we should of gotten something like they did back in March. When this came out it told a different story than what certain two very high pop nation was telling every one about the PvP2 population. While these numbers where only the folks that logged in and can't tell you the RvR/PvP population of a nation, but any one can be apart of PvP/RvR if they want. Even the carebear traders that never been in a fight and only trades can pick up the cause and go defend a port. I would love to see how these numbers are now, but sadly they will be off from what they where a month or two go cause of many folks stop playing and going to do other things. Since your not a Pirate I'll let you know we have not crushed little clans to make them do our will. The only clan BLACK has crushed was HELL and since most of the suspected members ran off to join TF in US and than follow them to GB our suspesion of them being US/GB spy's alts was prob true. Even than when they attacked a none clan trader the rest of the nation jumped in and KOS any members that stayed around until they left the clan (many did the first hour and are still pirates to this day GS6 was formed by one). We currently have one pirate that is on nation KOS. BLACK didn't vote this, this was called up and voted on by all the other clans. We sat back and let them do this cause we want a healthy nation and you have to let the other clans do things too. There was no nahs in the Nation chat. You saw nothing but AYE"s about putting him on perm KOS. He's giving out info in global chat about our numbers and sitting int he safety of the Green zone in front of the capital so even FFA fights can't be used to stop him. Though we are hopping enough reports will get his chat privileges removed since he's being an open spy for US/GB. Again this was a vote by the Pirate Republic on the spot just as a pirate Nation should do and not some silly congress or what ever the other nations big clans have that meet once a week and vote on things. Pirates has all ways been about doing things on the fly. Yes my clan plans things out but they never go the way they are plan. Any one who's served in the military knows the best laid out plans goes out the windows when the first shot is fired. So before you say some one has done something or another you might want to learn what is actually going on instead of just guessing. It's like when we took one port from the US (even pre-patch and they had 20 others) and they still had a bunch of others, "OMG THE PIRATES HAVE ONE PORTED US." Wait we took a port, you have like 10 others, how the hell is that one ported? Than they log off and stop playing and don't even try to fight to get them back. Funny how when every one was taking those empty ports from Spain and you could only get the Conquest Marks from being at them we saw like 50-70 players fighting to get into those port battles. They only show when they don't have to use there cannons it seems. I thought that system honestly was way better than the current Victory Mark system. When we took Bermuda that morning before the port battle we had some one watching and they took out over a dozen first rates to head back to the east coast. Those where only the ones we saw leave. The guys have ships, they just don't want to use them in a fight. I really want to know what they do with all there resources and gold. Ya'll are pretty much down to two ports and aren't running out of ships but you are fighting. It's the same way when Pirates was down to one or two regions. You actually fight better cause you don't have to worry about defending ports/regions. YOu can just go out and have fun and do your own thing. What I think is funny is I see more Nationals Using the Pirate Frigate than I do pirates. I get folks paging me all the time if I can get them the permit or make them one and they will pay a lot for them and it's not fellow pirates that are paging this. I haven't checked the xp slot thing, but when it was still part of the tree it had way higher requirements than the frigate did. I'll be making one for a 5th rate PvP ship for DEAD soon so I'll test that out and compare it with the others that have unlocked the normal frigate. The only pluss it has is more crew, the moral boost in boarding and bigger top deck gun, but if you run the bigger guns the speed is prettty much lost it gets over the normal frigate. Don't forget it has less HP than the normal frigate. Other wise all the other states are the same.

Stoopid Question About Trading!
Sir Texas Sir replied to seanjo's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
While you can't put contracts in enemy ports any more so that helps, but wish they had this option so you don't have to sale to known spy's or you can help out the little guy and sale to him instead of the trade mongrel that out bids every one cause he's sitting on tons of gold. Some of the contracts out there is getting insane for certain goods and the odd thing is it's folks out bidding players that we have never seen in OW, chat or any other engagement so they are most likely some econ alts. Hell we do it too, but the option to skip them and sale to who you want would be nice. Hell even same nation folks might not want to sale to another clan cause they have a beef with each other. When we had Castries pre-patch I use to sale to the French if they put contracts up to help them. Though I would stop when it hit a Dutch player or others that where trying to milk all the silver so the french didn't get it. That or I just had Eric The Too pick up and buy direct from me if we where both on. Never understood why would I sale to some one I was at war with (DUTCH). So it was good that they took out the contracts for nations that don't own that region.6 -
No it does not make friendly hostile. It gives the option for other clans or nations to take that ship from you cause your using a stolen ship. If your own clan mates attack you to take it from you than you have other problems. I honestly think your the one that is blinded. I have yet to see one suggestion from you about some check and balance system. All I hear is why restrict nationals. Well cause there needs to be a balance in game play. Nationals should not be able to sail every ship in the game no matter what. There needs to be restrictions on all parties. And that is why I suggested limiting docking for ports. If SOL's can only be docked at SOL ports than Pirates can only keep them in a limited locations. The same for Nationals too. Capitals should always be the SOL harbors for this reason so that you always have a port to keep such ships in which can't be captured. This is something that will effect all players, but since nationals should have more options of SOL/Deep water ships than Pirates (7 other nations after all) they aren't as restricted unless they loose these ports and you can never loose your capital. Since they can craft the ships (remember pirates only have a level 1 and 2 shipyards) Nationals should have a better chance of getting and replacing any SOL's lost. THus making it more a restriction to Pirates which are limited by what they can capture or get from a national who crafted it for them. Can I ask where you around when Smuggler flag made folks able to be attacked by there own nation as if they are a pirate? That is what the Pirate ships tag would do. Your not going to be killed by the whole server, but if some privateer see's you and thinks you don't need that ship they can take it from you and turn it in for the Admiralty reward. Notice something I been saying? Turn it in for a bigger reward than you got from the battle. Just like back when we captured SOL's it rewarded us a bigger cash price than just sinking it. IT's the same thing but instead of being instant reward on the spot you have to sail your prize back to port. If you don't want to be tagged as a pirate than your prize should be in your fleet until you get back to port. Than you turn it in and get your reward. The restrictions on ships Nationals can keep is only Pirates ships and 4th rates above must be turned in or be tagged as pirates ships. They can still keep any none pirate ship of 5th-7th rate. Since 5th rates should be the majority of the ships in game this doesn't restrict folks from finding cheap OW replacement ships on either side of the game. I have yet to see a proper system from you, you only want Pirates to have restrictions and Nationals to have every thing. I'm all ears if you have any input, but you need to look at both sides and not just one.

Grinding some ports is beyond stupid
Sir Texas Sir replied to Koltes's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
He just described what they do at Mort and Christ...lol Though replace the 1st rates with 4-5th rates. Though I have to admit they are good about luring fleets out and ambushing them. -
Yah we all ready came up with THE BLACK COMPANY for the one we where going to make with half a dozen pirate clans ready to join into the Company. One thing the game needs among every thing folks have been bringing up is proper Pirate Mechanics so they are just another bastard nation or just make us Privateers with option to help other nations and the guys that don't get LoM are the true Outlaws/Pirates. Though we are never going to see anything like this....
-
I remember when I made my second char and he was Spain just to have some fun since my main was a pirate. I was out hunting brits in front of KPR and the pirates come a long. It was my clan mates and they didn't know that was my alt. Well some brits jump me and they join my side to help me. So after that I figure with my little rattlesnake I was just 6ranked into 120 to crew I would help the. We tagged a Brit Bucc and it ran. I ran that bastard down and shot the crap out of it's sales until the Pirates caught up. I made a level and half off that kill cause my sail damage was more than any other damage since they boarded and captured it. That is how one ranks up by damage done not just your Assist and Kill. Shortly after that I rolled him Pirate to be my light/shallow char. He ranked up purely on Port battles and OW PvP until I got to Devil and grind a bunch of missions in a 2nd rate to make Curse. SO yah some folks can level purly on PvP, but they can't with the current rewards system.
-
Doesn't work that way cause you don't know who's a noob and who isn't and I'm sorry by 4-5th Rank you are getting into the ships that you have known the basics of the game. If anything the noobies are the 1-3 ranks only, but if I want to be an evil baby seal clubber I would just make a new char and keep him low level. Ever time he level out of the noobie zone I just delete him and make a new one. I use to keep one char on games low level to help run new players through first parts of games. That char was tanked out and maxed out for the newbie zones every time cause I ran a lot of folks. When they got to high I just delete and make a new one. Not to mention the best way for them to learn is to go out with other clan members/players to teach them the ropes. You mean like a certain other Naval game or two that looks pretty cartoonist and fake that are coming out soon from other games and one looks very much like an arena style game? The xp and gold for PvP needs to be boosted like ya'll did with CM. I think the CM feel about balanced with PvE now. XP needs to be rewarded for damage again. Most the time we have fights half us don't do enough damage to get a kill or assist and we leave the fight with zero rewards even though we might of spent it shooting sails to slow down the ship for the big boys. This kills small new players from helping and leveling up with the older players in bigger ships. Lets not even talk about if some one in your group caps the ship. Now every one gets nothing other than that one player. So XP needs to go back to being rewarded off damage done. Bring back Paints Chest for PvP Leader board to players. Don't give out Notes or BP's as that hurts the crafters and market. Only paint or some other cosmetic prizes. Give out a chest for all those that win a Port battle too. This will let the RvR/PvP guys stand out as they have painted ships. They can still trade it to the casual players for money and all are happy. Not every reward should be able to every player. Just don't make them game breaking or OP rewards needed for certain type of game play like ships folks would use for PvP or RvR.6
-
One of the problems is I get better rewards doing PvE. Higher gold drop cause I can solo and not have to share. Rewards are better cause I get books and mods dropped. I can sale the goods cause I don't have to keep the ship. The Combat Marks are a bit better balanced but XP reward is not on PvE vs PvP. XP needs to go back to being based off damage. Keep Marks and Gold off the Kill Assit. This will help reward folks better. Ship knowledge should be gained from mission and sailing xp too not just your combat XP. PvP rewards need to be separated from PvE rewards. I'm sorry you want the good stuff you take the risk. You want the epic gear you have to go do the epic mission in a game or buy it from some one that farms the epic raid. ONe way to do this is make something we all miss rewards from PvP PAINT CHEST. That shows your rewarded by doing PvP (top guys per day on PvP Leaderboards get one and PB winners) and not just some guy that grind AI's all day long. Make the rewards something as a status that your a PvP/RvR player. When you removed PvP marks you took that away from the PvP players. Conquest Marks rewarded the guys that did Port Battles and the hard work. Now Victory Marks only rewards the team that wins and it rewards every one included the guys that did nothing and alts that suddenly rolled to the winning team. It should reward the folks that actually show up and fight at the port battles not the lazy folks that just riding on thier coat tellls. It gave a reason to own a region. Just like the old region refit for crafting a ship in that region gave you a reason to own a region. Now you just have to go in with a smuggler flag or out bid some one with your alt to get the refits. There is no reason to fight over regions for rare resources.
-
And how many of them started with several servers and have cut them in half or even down to one or two? Many of them do that and that is finished games. While this game is in alpha it really only needs one server or two if you count the testbed server. Once the game goes live they can open up as many servers as they think they will need.
-
Hoepfully sooner as I can't see that update any time soon. Though paints would be nice rewards for things cause really I'll be honest in saying a lot of the ships are getting very dull as they all look a lot alike. Would be nice to get paints back into game even if it's until a new patch that changes the system how you earn them.
-
I can see having a 24 hour delay from time that a clan is removed from your friends list before you can declare war on them if they still allow same nation to fight over port owner ship. This way some friendly clans can't boot one clan at the last moment from there list and than attack them. Other wise the other thing would be to boot them before a port battle so they won't be involved in it. Pretty much depending how the port battles are set I think the clans that can join should be set at that time. Than again this can all be very interesting when certain clans turn on each other.

Global Maintenance Times
Sir Texas Sir replied to Jeheil's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Got to take care of the Wife Agro....I think I might just call it an early bed time night for me. Not like any thing new will be going on when the servers come back on line. @Ink HINT HINT paint chest for every one......please. -
I mean it can be tweeked a bit more and all, but the concept is basic to make most nationals the SOL big ship master and Pirates the Light ships and than have it pretty much equal in the middle and give them both something to make them a part from each other. Though the main thing is until the Devs are ready we pretty much not going to see any changes any time soon. Though I think it would make a big step up in the game.

Turn speed
Sir Texas Sir replied to Captain Lust's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
The first number would be 25% of the wikie turn rate for the Endymioin, the Connie one is way off cause the Connie has a better turn rate last I checked, but never know any more with them changing so many little things without notice. -
I did like the War Companies concept and we even all ready had the name and every planed for our War Company, but I think the friendly clans thing works out too. Will there still be clan wars between same nation clans and what not? Oh what about clanless players? With the War Companies it sounded like you could add them and they didn't have to be in a clan. Now the small one or two guys that solo and want to join RvR will have to be forced to join a clan even if they don't want to. @admin May I suggest that when you do this you give out another round of Forge Papers and give a tally of each nation active population to help us maybe balance out the servers again for the new system? Something like this would be great. A lot of folks think they are in smaller nations than they are but they don't understand they don't see the guys that log in through out the days is actual a lot more than the current log in numbers.
-
Well considering even if a pirate could get the permits and BP's I listed above they can't have a shipyard above level 3. I would say that is a very big restriction that they can't craft them no matter what. Than again that has never stopped us from capturing them from Nationals. Specially when half your guys jump out of the fight and leave them behind. It sounds more like your wanting the Pirates to have all the restrictions and Nationals none. I'm listing restrictions for both. Tell me exactly what is the difference in a National if he can sale all the ships no matter if it's a pirate ship? See your not wanting to have limits but only for the pirates. Why would a National have a stolen ship in the first place? The only example I could see is some one that actually works as a Privateer, but lets be honest all a pirate is is a Privateer that doesn't have a job with papers.

I wouldn't want weekend only port battles. I take Sundays off to spend with the family and normally home by 9pm which is when a PB would happen for my prime time or all ready started. Though I'm all for War Companies/Clans picking a window they can defend in. Sorry you don't have to defend and keep every dang port you own. You can always take them back in your prime time or let some one else defend them. IF your War Company/Clan isn't in charge of that port than so be it you might just loose it. Than get some one that can better defend it to take control of it. Your never going to find that perfect window for every one.

To Devs: PvE server has potential
Sir Texas Sir replied to AngryPanCake's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I don't see guys that play on the PvE as carebears. The guys I see are the ones that play on PvP and avoid PvP unless they are sure wins (empty port battles or 10 to 1 odds). The only issue I have with the PvE server is that the player numbers are so low and the map is so big. I really like the concept of the Gulf being a PvE safe zone for players. The map is just way to big there really is no reason they couldn't share it on one or even two servers if they just keep a EU and GLOBAL. It would also give the PvE guys (now this might make them carebears;) to come out of safe area and try out some PvP or RvR once in while. This way with every one on the same server they can focus more for content that works across the board for PvE/PvP/RvR style of players. Hell I love doing trade and crafting, but I also love the risk of a good fight. carebear MMO video game term often used in EVE Online. Definines someone whose playstyle involves very little or easily quantifiable risk. Often confused with players who PvE for ingame money. Carebears are the players who are risk-averse and will only engage in PvP when the outcome is predictable (and ideally, profitable) Did you see xyz players? They never fight without three to one odds! Huge carebears! -

Maybe you should learn the game rules and mechanics before you start pointing fingers. We have not been found of anything. Ink's own words just to remind you.=
